Chapter 814: Chapter 804: You Actually Know How to Smile?
"I told him I was pregnant, that I was carrying your child, and that from now on we’d be together. I wanted him to know the past is already over. Are you satisfied?"
Cole O’Connell’s gaze dropped to her lower belly, that slender, flat little stomach. He really did want to put one in there for her, as a way to tie her down, but right now wasn’t the right moment.
He also wouldn’t use that kind of dirty trick. Unless she truly fell for him, then even if he locked her up for a lifetime, he would absolutely never lay a finger on her. That was his straight‑man cancer.
"Not bad. As your reward, I’ll give you one month of freedom. As long as you report everywhere you go to me, I won’t monitor you during that month."
Yulia O’Connell lifted her head, still wary in her eyes. "What are you up to now?"
She hadn’t had any freedom for years; how could Cole O’Connell suddenly decide to give her some?
"You don’t want it?" Cole O’Connell raised his brows lightly, very displeased with the way she was looking at him now, as if he were some unforgivable monster.
"I want it." Yulia O’Connell said.
When a person’s been confined for too long, they’ll always crave freedom, want to really be free, really go crazy.
No matter what Cole O’Connell’s motive was, she wanted that freedom.
"Kiss." Cole O’Connell tapped one side of his handsome face.
Yulia O’Connell hooked her arms around the man’s neck, rose on tiptoe, and pressed her red lips toward him.
Cole O’Connell deliberately shifted a little, and Yulia O’Connell very cooperatively chased right after.
A low, satisfied chuckle spilled from the man’s throat. Not far away, Nathan Knight took in their intimate little display.
"Mr. Knight, you still can’t bear it now? I already told you, the moment you left, Yulia O’Connell fell for that man. You really thought she’d only ever love you? Do yourself a favor and wake up. For our grand plan, you need to sacrifice what needs sacrificing. Women are all like this—they love men with power."
With every sentence his subordinate spoke, Nathan Knight’s handsome face twisted a little more with ferocity.
"The watch auction is over now. This one’s mine." Melody Thorne hugged the freshly wrapped Heart of the Ocean in her arms.
"If it’s yours, then it’s yours. It’s not like I can snatch it from you." Yulia O’Connell glanced at her, slipped an arm around her neck. Because she’d just been granted freedom, she was downright excited, even that delicate face that hadn’t shown a smile in days was now touched with one.
"You’re actually smiling?" Melody Thorne shot her a weird look, exaggeratingly dropping her jaw. "You still remember how to smile?"
Yulia O’Connell: "..."
She lifted her head to find Cole O’Connell’s eyes fixed on her, something almost scorching hidden in them.
"Let’s go out and walk around, okay? Come with me." Yulia O’Connell could hardly hold herself back anymore.
"Sure, I’ll go get Timmy first. He was just here, now I don’t know where he wandered off to."
"Okay, let’s go together."
Out in the hallway outside the ballroom, Melody Thorne saw Timmy coming back. "Timmy, where did you go? Do you have any idea how worried I was? Hm?"
"I’m fine. I just went to the bathroom." Timmy patted his little hands and glanced back over his shoulder. "Are we going home now? Let’s go?"
"Let’s go. We’ll go play for a bit with Aunt Yulia."
"Bang bang." A knocking sound came from behind them, like someone was pounding hard on a restroom door.
"Little guy, don’t tell me that has something to do with you?" Yulia O’Connell bent down and saw a few splashes of water on Timmy’s clothes.
