She soon heard many footsteps again.
"Melody Thorne," it was Jared Quinn’s voice.
"Sister-in-law."
"Sister-in-law."
Melody Thorne saw a tall, upright man walking along the path she had run from. Even from a distance, she could see Jared Quinn’s eyes burning with rage.
The figure was tall and imposing, exuding a chilling aura.
The air around her was cold, and she suddenly felt some regret for agreeing to Elias Hale’s request.
"Melody Thorne," the man’s voice rumbled, echoing from deep in his chest.
As the footsteps approached, Melody Thorne hid further back, surrounded by tall weeds that just managed to cover her.
"Brother Jared, it’s very possible that sister-in-law has already gone down the mountain. We saw Elias Hale being pursued just now but didn’t see sister-in-law, so it’s likely Elias Hale led them away, allowing her to go somewhere else.
"Bang," Melody Thorne heard a loud noise. In the faint light, she saw a striking red as blood gushed from Jared Quinn’s fist.
Hiding behind a tree, Melody Thorne’s body trembled violently. She wanted to stand up and go to him; she couldn’t bear to see Jared Quinn harming himself because he couldn’t find her.
A pair of large hands covered her mouth just in time. "If you go out now, you might never get another chance to provoke him."
Elias Hale, who had just led those people away, had returned. "Trust me, the days will pass quickly."
"Brother Jared, we just saw a woman at the foot of the mountain who looks exactly like madam. Our people have already followed her," said a bodyguard in black.
Jared Quinn immediately got up and headed down the mountain.
The group left, and Melody Thorne got up to leave.
"Are you mad?" Elias Hale followed behind her, hands in his pockets.
"Shouldn’t I be?" Melody Thorne’s expression turned cold. "You and Leon Rivers are both quacks."

"Why do you trust me so much? Aren’t you afraid that I might have inappropriate thoughts about you or be using you?" Elias Hale followed behind her, walking slowly.
Especially since she’s a pregnant woman.
"Because you have the face of a good person," Melody Thorne scoffed coldly. "Is that reason enough?"
Indeed, she trusted him because of that face.
Elias Hale lifted his hand to touch his own face. "You’re the first to say it looks like the face of a good person."

After they went down the mountain, they were walking along the road when a few luxury cars surrounded them.
Elias Hale touched his nose in some surprise. "Looks like our game is going to end before it even began. How unfortunate."
The man who got out of the car had dark eyes, reddened with anger. Since coming down the mountain, he had been here, his men surrounding the entire mountain. What was initially speculation turned out to be true.
He had clearly seen just now that Melody Thorne and the man beside her were chatting and laughing. Obviously, Elias Hale hadn’t kidnapped her; she had willingly gone with him.
"Come here," Jared Quinn extended his broad hand toward Melody Thorne.
His indifferent tone was mixed with anger.
"Is this considered a failure?" Melody Thorne asked softly, biting her lip.
"No, it’s not," Elias Hale lowered his voice, speaking in a tone only the two of them could hear. "Later, try provoking him with words, see what happens?"
"How should I provoke him?"
"Like this," Elias Hale placed his hand on her shoulder.
