Chapter 669: Chapter 669: Did You Find Something Out?
"Where to?" Caleb looked through the rearview mirror at the woman in the back.
Right now, there’s a huge crowd of reporters chasing them, probably wanting to see what kind of reaction Melody Thorne will have or what she’ll do next.
"First, shake off the reporters behind us," Melody Thorne rested her chin on her hand, gazing out the window. The events happened too suddenly just now, and she wasn’t sure how to react. She was still in a daze.
"Okay," Caleb easily shook off those reporters, while the car stopped outside the Adler Family’s house. Facing Melody Thorne’s cold gaze, he explained, "I thought you had nowhere to go, so I brought you here."
Melody Thorne got out of the car and walked towards the Adler Family’s house, not needing Caleb to lead the way—she was more familiar with this place than Caleb.
Inside the hall, Caleb poured a cup of warm water for her. "Your reaction was somewhat unexpected to me."
He thought Melody Thorne loved Jared Quinn so much that she might cry hysterically or be heartbroken enough to doubt the world, but all along the way, Melody Thorne’s reactions were particularly calm.
"Crying doesn’t help," Melody Thorne’s fingers tightened around her phone, sliding up and down through the Quinn Family’s scandal that just hit the trending list, gaining over a hundred million views in half an hour. There were all sorts of photos, showing ambiguous marks on both Jared Quinn and Wendy Lynch as they lay under the same quilt, even the virgin blood was shot clearly.
It’s hard not to believe something happened between them.
"Jared was probably drugged and lost his mind, which led him to that woman," Caleb glanced indifferently at her phone.
"Are you saying something really happened between them?" Melody Thorne bit her lower lip. She didn’t want to believe it, but now all the evidence pointed to something definitely happening, and the facade of calm she struggled to maintain was starting to crumble.
"Do you need a shoulder to lean on?" Caleb patted his shoulder. "As a steward for the Seymour Family, I’ll provide whatever you need."
That includes many things.
Melody Thorne leaned against the sofa, curling her legs up, shrinking into a corner. "Did you know something after I sent you a message, and that’s why you rushed to the party?"
Caleb took off his suit and sat across from her. "Yes, I found out that she seems unrelated to the Lynch Family. Her identity is considered more like an adopted daughter, but the Lynch Family has always claimed she’s their biological daughter to the public, so no one knows she isn’t. I went to the party to tell you, but didn’t expect her target to be so clear. Without evidence proving it was her, an investigation is needed. It’s possible she’s also a victim of someone else’s plot."
Just as he spoke, footsteps sounded outside, and Jared Quinn’s tall figure seemed completely enveloped in gloom, ominous and frightening.
"Melody, trust me," he said, arms somewhat frantic as he embraced Melody Thorne.
Melody Thorne was caught in his embrace, her heart still empty, and muttered, "I trust you."
As long as he asks her to trust, she will choose to believe.
"Really?" Jared Quinn straightened her up, but from her eyes, he saw emptiness and confusion. His heart convulsed painfully, and even he couldn’t bring himself to trust his own words. The claw marks from a woman’s fingertips were conspicuous on his chest and back.
