"Is playing with people that much fun?" Melody Thorne leaned against a tree, mirroring his stance, watching him with the same scrutinizing gaze he used on her. "With such little sincerity, I think we better not cooperate."

"Did I ever say I wanted to cooperate with you?" Caleb tilted his head, removing the blade of grass from his mouth, and approached her step by step.

Melody knew he was someone difficult to provoke. A man who was so tolerant could only mean his methods were bound to be cruel and ruthless.

But back then, when the Thorne Family and the Adler Family collaborated, they fell into the Adler Family’s trap, resulting in half of the Thorne’s stocks ending up with the Adlers. Melody’s father never recovered from this blow and moved abroad.
