Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Come Here
Hans Montrose took a tissue and wiped her fingers. "It’s not about the knife; some people are just born with bad taste."
"You’re the one with bad taste," Melody Thorne kicked him lightly on the calf.
Hans’s body stiffened slightly; this was a habit from Melody when they were kids, but it hadn’t happened for a long time. He chuckled softly; a person’s nature is hard to change, despite how easily one’s character can.
He turned back and patted Melody’s hair because she was shorter than him, so he often patted her head.
But, for Melody, that gesture was pure contempt—blatant contempt. She immediately stepped onto a nearby stool and leaped onto Hans’s back, her arm locking around his neck. "Touch my head again, and apologize quickly," she threatened.
Swoosh, for some unknown reason, a sudden chill of winter seemed to fill the room, and Melody could feel an eerie wind brush past her back.
Hans was in the middle of peeling a crab, extracting its meat deftly with a knife. He turned his hand, offering it to her mouth. "Alright, alright, I won’t touch your head anymore. This little one serves the Empress Dowager."
"Well, it’s good you know your place," Melody said as she bit the meat from his hand. Just as she was about to climb down, the whole restaurant seemed to plunge into an icehouse.
Looking up, she saw a man standing at the door, his features cold and eyes icy, exuding an aura that spelled destruction.
Melody froze for a moment, her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly slid down from Hans.
"Come here," Jared Quinn’s eyes flashed with cold light, speaking in a low voice.
"Why?" She had her freedom; why should she go just because he said so?
Seeing her not move, Jared Quinn’s lips curled into a faint, mocking smile, whispering softly, "Timmy..."
Melody clenched her hand and walked over, glaring at him.
Jared saw that she stayed so far from him and pulled her closer, unzipping the back of her dress with his broad hand.
Melody’s eyes instantly flared with rage, wanting to burst out, but one hand was tightly held by him. To prevent exposure, she was forced to press her back against his chest.
This detestable man, what is he doing!!!
"Why stay so close?" Jared Quinn’s deep voice chuckled wickedly, his tone ambiguously echoing throughout the shop.
"If you’ve got the guts, zip me back up!" Melody stomped angrily, clenching her teeth.
Why has he become so detestable now, argh!!!!
"What’s the rush?" Jared Quinn smirked coldly, his smile sinister.
This woman tampered with his car, and yet she dares to openly make a fool of him.
Well, she’s got guts!
"You’re sick!" Melody ground her heel into his foot.
Jared Quinn glanced coldly at Hans Montrose before wrapping his arm around her waist and escorting her away.
Quinn Villa.
The butler watched the pair enter, worried but too afraid to intervene. They were fine this morning, so what happened now?
Back in the lounge, Jared tossed Melody onto the sofa. He was genuinely angry, especially after seeing her smile at Hans, the small intimate gestures, jumping onto another man’s back, eating food fed by someone else.
Melody climbed out of the bed. Just recently, she had taken fertility drugs and couldn’t let Jared Quinn touch her again.
"Jared Quinn, the way you act now makes people think you’re jealous!"
