Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Man and Woman Alone
Alone man and woman, now with Caleb no longer being foolish, what might happen between them? Ivy doesn’t think it’s that simple, and with Mr. Quinn here, why not seize the opportunity?
Ivy took out her phone and dialed Jared Quinn’s number, but it didn’t connect. Ever since she appeared at his swimming pool last time, it seemed her number could never get through to him.
Her face darkened, and she moved to the hospital service desk to redial Jared’s number.
Because it was a call from inside the hospital, the line was picked up particularly quickly. "What’s the matter?"
Hearing the voice from the phone, Ivy’s heart trembled. She hadn’t been able to reach him for a long time.
"It’s me, Ivy."
There was silence on the other side, but through the phone line, she could feel the temperature dropping swiftly.
Fearing he might hang up, Ivy quickly spoke, "I just saw Melody at the hospital. I saw her go into Caleb’s room, and I’m worried something might happen to her.
Not like that, of course. I know they are in a situation where nothing disgraceful would happen, but Caleb’s condition has just improved, and I’m afraid he might suddenly go crazy and harm Melody.
If by any chance... if by any chance..."
Before she could finish, the call was disconnected. She knew that even though she couldn’t see it, Jared was definitely angry now.
Satisfied, Ivy put the phone back and went upstairs. With Melody appearing in Caleb’s room like this, how could it not reach Mr. Quinn’s ears?
Knock, knock.
Knock, knock.
"Who is it?" Mr. Quinn’s voice came from inside.
"Grandfather, it’s me, Ivy," Ivy softened her voice, "Are you asleep?"
"I am. Whatever it is, talk about it tomorrow," Mr. Quinn said impatiently.
Ivy’s expression shifted. If it weren’t for Jared, she wouldn’t put up with Mr. Quinn’s attitude so late at night. Mr. Quinn had always had a poor opinion of her.
"It’s like this, Grandfather. I saw Melody just went into Caleb’s room. The doctor said Caleb’s condition is still unstable. Melody might have gone with good intentions to visit my brother, but I’m afraid if he falls ill, it wouldn’t be good for Melody.
I tried knocking just now, but who knows what they’re doing; the door wouldn’t open."
She purposely spoke ambiguously, leaving room for misinterpretation.
There was silence in the room, and as Ivy was about to speak again, she heard the sound of clothes rustling inside, which made her smirk.
Now, let’s see how Melody explains herself being in a man’s room in the middle of the night.
Even if nothing happened, the Quinn Family would definitely blow up, and how could she still stay in the Quinn Family with any face?
Then everything would be hers.
After finishing everything, Ivy called Mrs. Quinn to invite her over, then went to stand guard outside Caleb’s room.
The sound of leather shoes echoed heavily in the corridor, evoking a sense of keen alert. Just from the sound of it, one could tell the approaching person was full of anger.
Jared hadn’t actually left; he’d merely gone to the car to have a smoke.
"So fast?"
Ivy thought she would have to wait a while longer. Seeing the man, she quickly jogged up, "Young Master Jared, they’re inside, doing who knows what. I knocked for a long time just now, and no one answered."
