Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Don’t Do Anything Reckless
"Dad, look, didn’t I say he was pretending to be dumb?" Ivy sneered as she stared at the disappearing car not far away.
That car was bought by George Adler to prevent those reporters from making random reports, to prove that he treated Caleb well, so he brought a car to the hospital, proclaiming it as a grand gift for Caleb’s recovery.
In front of the reporters, he handed the car keys over to Caleb. Now not only is he not dumb, but his appearance is strikingly similar to his deceased elder brother’s: cold, handsome, and enigmatic.
And judging by his driving skills just now, he appears very skilled. George Adler’s face darkened as he realized that Caleb might have been faking his madness while staying with The Adler Family, secretly learning things he shouldn’t have known while they were off guard.
Just the thought of this made George Adler feel uneasy.
"It’s okay, let’s wait and see for now; let’s head back," George Adler said, trying to take his daughter away, but Ivy refused to leave.
"Dad, you go ahead. I just remembered I made plans with some friends," Ivy said nonchalantly, pulling her arm back.
George Adler looked at his daughter, fully aware of what she was thinking, and warned her, "Don’t do anything reckless."
"I know, I know," Ivy replied dismissively, "You head on first."
The taxi in front was driving recklessly forward as if it didn’t fear death, and the men in black following it were secretly alarmed but could only keep up, while Jared Quinn’s car trailed behind the taxi.
The sports car could easily overtake the taxi ahead. Jared Quinn handled the steering wheel with one large hand and smoked with the other, the dim streetlights casting his sharp and alluring face in relief against the window, matching his elusive expression.
His gaze fixed on the taxi ahead; he had to admit that the little woman was clever and resourceful enough to deceive even him, and now he found himself playing cat and mouse with her in the dead of night.
When had he ever chased after a woman like this?
"Mr. Quinn," one of the men in black suddenly noticed something amiss, "our tracking device shows the young lady’s presence at several different locations simultaneously."
The tracker was a cutting-edge device capable of accessing surveillance feeds and identifying people. It revealed several women dressed identically to Melody Thorne, although all of them had deliberately covered their faces.
Jared Quinn’s eyes hardened, and the cigarette in his hand snapped in two, flying out the window as his vehicle came to a halt. Had she tricked him once again?
Suddenly, the screech of tires skidding across the pavement erupted behind him as two cars swerved around Jared Quinn’s vehicle, one on each side, and charged toward the taxi ahead.
The taxi was driving on top of a bridge, with roads below. A crash at that speed would indeed be catastrophic.
"Oh no, the tracker shows the young lady’s presence in that area too," the man in black exclaimed in shock.
It was unclear whether Melody Thorne was actually in that car or not.
The two cars sped up recklessly, clearly on a collision course. There was no doubt someone was targeting Melody Thorne, suggesting she was likely in that car.
Jared Quinn muttered a curse, anger rising at the thought that someone dared to make a move right under his nose. His sports car shot forward, and on the other side, another vehicle rushed past, overtaking the men in black.
