Chapter 948: Chapter 548: Airborne Ambush
If they can break through the fluid barriers designed specifically for high-altitude duels, breaking through the airplane’s cabin is also a simple task.
However, the despair doesn’t end there.
With two identical collision sounds echoing, two more black-clad figures broke through the barrier and landed on the wing.
At the same time, sounds of something landing were heard from the top of the cabin.
The black-clad figures on the wing merely glanced at the pale-faced unfortunate pair and then turned to head toward the cabin.
In their hands, something seemed to be glowing with a gleaming green light.
"They’re going to breach the cabin!" You Wenqi was the first to react. As he spoke, the dueling device in his hand had already lit up.
Without hesitation, he initiated a forced duel against the leading black-clad man.
The opponent’s body flashed with the light of the dueling device, and then You Wenqi and the opponent vanished from sight, dragged into an independent duel space by the forced duel.
"It can be done this way?" Tan Song was dumbfounded.
However, You Wenqi brought only one along, clearly not enough.
Tan Song hesitated for a moment, and then took out his dueling device.
Shen Sui was even more enthusiastic.
Airplanes, assaults, duels!
Oh my! With all the elements in play, he definitely couldn’t miss this.
However, before Shen Sui and Tan Song could initiate forced duels against the remaining two, those two black-clad figures turned into blood mist, swept away by the wind created by the pressure difference.
Simultaneously swept away was the unsettling tapping sound from the top of the cabin.
Vivian put down the pen she had raised, returning to scribble and draw on the paper, leaving only the comment: "So annoying."
Shen Sui awkwardly touched his nose.
Tan Song glanced at Vivian in surprise but seemed to understand something, quickly retracting his astonished expression and muttering oddly: "The Beast Taming World can grant people special abilities?"
"Whoa." Shen Sui suddenly slapped his palm and said, "In this case, isn’t Old You kind of embarrassed?"
Initially, everyone was about to fight the enemies, making it seem like a classic scene, but only You Wenqi was actually fighting, while the others did nothing, making You Wenqi appear foolish.
Just as Tan Song was letting his mind wander, the light of forced duel dissipated, and the solemn You Wenqi reappeared beside Tan Song.
The fact that You Wenqi could still stand showed that he had at least won the duel.
Tan Song immediately looked towards where the enemy was, only to find that the person’s clothes were already tattered, revealing a youthful face.
"So strong..." was all that person managed to say before collapsing, obviously lifeless.
Seeing the opponent completely lose life, the tensed You Wenqi finally relaxed.
Defeat in a duel and a last-minute strike with remaining strength had been seen in past missions, keeping vigilant greatly improves survival rates.
"Did you guys resolve it already?" The relaxed You Wenqi finally looked at the idle group of people, asking surprisingly after confirming no other enemies were present.
Tan Song shrugged.
"That’s not right..." This caused You Wenqi to fall into self-doubt.
He had clearly taken the fastest action to deal with the enemy, but why was Tan Song quicker? Shen Sui finishing a duel faster was acceptable since it wasn’t the first time he’d won against him, but Tan Song being so quick made You Wenqi feel urgent.
Could this guy have lost the previous duel on purpose?
Tan Song briefly explained the situation to You Wenqi.
You Wenqi showed a surprised expression, taking a deep look at Vivian.
Tan Song and other Life Card Masters on the plane surrounded You Wenqi, inquiring about the identities of the attackers.
You Wenqi wasn’t just the strongest among them but also the most experienced.
Having competed in many matches and faced numerous opponents, he has done research on different Soul Card Worlds, sometimes identifying opponents’ origins through follower characteristics even if they didn’t disclose their background.
Of course, this isn’t 100% accurate since not all card decks’ Life Cards come from native sources, but it can still serve as reference.
"The card deck doesn’t show any style." You Wenqi stroked his chin, being the only one to confront the attacker, making him the sole source of information, "Very mixed, no clear main theme, more of a pure strong stack."
"It doesn’t seem like a deck snatched from a Life Card Master’s hand," Shen Sui immediately analyzed. Typically, a Life Card Master would construct their deck around a main theme, even if their ability to acquire Life Cards is weak, giving the deck a clear storyline.
You Wenqi’s expression grew serious.
Tan Song was somewhat confused: "What does this imply then?"
Shen Sui immediately explained: "It suggests the opponent might have access to a non-negligible card library, sufficient to allow picking Life Cards to build a deck. This isn’t like players in clubs picking Life Cards, and I assume they didn’t use Soul Cards? Such physical intruders surely don’t have Soul Cards."
"I didn’t use a Soul Card either," You Wenqi said coldly.
"Uh... Sorry, I was just kidding." Shen Sui’s mouth twitched, having forgotten about it.
You Wenqi puzzledly said, "I was kidding too... Isn’t it funny?"
Shen Sui, unsure how to respond, had to change the subject, "At least four people could construct decks using selected Life Cards from this library, suggesting it’s beyond an ordinary power’s capabilities."
Of course, exceptions are everywhere.
What if there’s a Life Card collector abroad like Bu Pei? Just pillaging such a super collector’s warehouse equates to obtaining a library.
"But... what’s their goal? What benefit do they gain from attacking us?" Tan Song wondered.
This question puzzled all present.
Shen Sui glanced at You Wenqi, whose brows were furrowed as if pondering other matters.
At this point, attendants finally remembered the pair on the wing, quickly opening the cabin door and helping pull them in, then closing the door again.
The pair, unfortunate yet emotionally stable with only minor frostbite, even seemed ready for subsequent duels.
Shen Sui watched wistfully as attendants closed and locked the door to the wing.
Under the circumstances of a shattered fluid barrier, this was quite right. But the flight attendants missed one point: it’s possible for some people to duel on the wing without barrier protection (provided they secure their cards against the wind).
However, after an attack, no matter how Shen Sui begged, attendants wouldn’t permit anyone to risk stepping onto the wing.
Shen Sui had to give up trying.
Meanwhile, his resentment toward the attackers increased exponentially.
They’d already been added to Shen Sui’s kill list during the aircraft assault, but he didn’t mind enhancing their charges.
Due to the attack, everyone completed the rest of the flight in silence.
Shen Sui had no intention of breaking the quiet atmosphere, understanding Vivian’s fondness for such an atmosphere.
When the plane finally landed at Valhalla City’s airport, everyone quietly sighed in relief.
As they disembarked, Qishala suddenly shielded Shen Sui, and others showed solemn expressions too.
This time, Shen Sui wasn’t totally oblivious.
The entire Valhalla City gave him a very peculiar feeling.
Staring at the palace on the mountaintop, Shen Sui fell into deep thought, still failing to pinpoint the source of this strange feeling.
