Chapter 874: Chapter 516: Become the Daylight Saintess, Alice!

Even so, when it came to Baris, this matter really was rather troublesome.

Shen Sui didn’t know how exactly Baris had usurped the Lady of Daylight’s Divine Position; presumably she had made use of her identity as a Knight of Daylight.

Using the Lady of Daylight’s identity, throughout the last thousand years Baris had ceaselessly waged war on the surrounding Gods. Aside from a few weaker Gods whose power was insignificant and who could be sealed away to serve as EXP packs for Shen Sui, all the other Gods had been killed by Baris and their Divinity devoured.

After a thousand years of accumulation, Baris’s soul had already amassed an enormous store of Divinity.

Divinity and the soul are bound together to an extreme degree; separating them is far from easy.

Still, it wasn’t that there was absolutely no way—it was just that Shen Sui hoped Baris could return to his side intact.

He actually already had a plan forming in his heart, but he still needed to discuss it with Vivian later; in matters like this, she was the more professional one.

Shen Sui used a purification-type skill on Baris. Although it couldn’t free Baris from her current state, it could at least spare her from such intense suffering.

Of course, before Shen Sui’s skill could even take effect, the Divinity that sensed his aura had already quieted down on its own.

Baris took the opportunity to collapse into Shen Sui’s arms.

In this man’s embrace, her soul, which had been restless for a thousand years, obtained a rare moment of silence.

Alice, off to the side, widened her eyes.

"If we find Vivian later, should I tell her about this or not?" Alice muttered to herself.

"No need," a familiar voice sounded beside her. "I’m watching right now."

Alice jumped in fright and immediately looked over.

A tiny red-haired figure was currently sitting cross-legged on her shoulder with arms folded, seriously watching Baris.

Vivian’s Candlelight Illusion: Girl Vivian. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Alice felt a bit awkward, opened her mouth, but didn’t know what to say.

"Instead of worrying about Claude’s love life, you’d be better off hurrying to see your good friend. She’s looking for you right now," Vivian said earnestly.

Hearing this tone that was completely different from the girl Vivian, Alice knew that the one controlling this Candlelight Illusion right now was the real Vivian.

Vivian’s words reminded Alice of Oshana, and she hurriedly stowed away her Magic Staff, intending to head to the Sun Prison to look for Oshana.

"Wait." Baris had already noticed the commotion on Alice’s side; after all, Vivian hadn’t bothered to conceal her aura at all.

Feeling a little embarrassed, Baris glanced at Vivian, then took out a set of Daylight Nun attire and tossed it to Alice. "Disguise yourself a little to avoid unnecessary trouble."

Alice scratched her head as she caught the clothes Baris threw over—she’d originally planned to just knock out some random believer by the roadside and strip their clothes...

"Long time no see, Vivian." Baris tried to extricate herself from Shen Sui’s embrace, but the disturbance in her Divinity made her head spin the moment she tried to stand.

She had actually already grown used to this feeling, but the serenity from just now had left her a little lost.

"Sorry..." Baris, who had been calm the whole time since appearing, finally revealed a shy expression.

Vivian shot Shen Sui a discreet glare, then said, "There’s nothing to apologize for. You’ve worked hard, Baris."

As she spoke, Vivian shifted into her normal size and naturally took Baris from Shen Sui’s arms.

Being passed back and forth between the two of them, Baris felt even more mortified.

What surprised her, though, was that after entering Vivian’s embrace, that sense of serenity did not fade.

"Don’t tell me you thought it was your love for Claude that let you overcome the disturbance of the Divinity?" Seeing right through Baris’s thoughts, Vivian snorted with a laugh and teased.

"Ugh..." Baris had indeed been thinking exactly that.

"The reason the Divinity quieted down is because it fears our power," Vivian said. "Once that little brat Alice grows up, the Divinity will be just as quiet when you’re near her."

With that, Vivian began examining Baris’s body.

The scene of two peerlessly beautiful young women doing a physical examination was, to Shen Sui, frankly a bit stimulating.

Silently, he activated a skill and concealed everything around them.

This was a sight for him alone; no other creature was allowed to see it—not even bugs.

After a thorough check, Vivian’s expression remained quite calm, which let Shen Sui relax a little.

Vivian’s expression meant that while Baris’s condition wasn’t good, it also wasn’t as terrible as they had imagined; at the very least, Vivian had a way to deal with it.

"I’ll make some artifacts later. Once you wear them, the disturbances from the Divinity will be greatly reduced," Vivian said to Baris.

While Baris’s situation couldn’t exactly be called bad, her willpower was so firm that even Vivian was a little surprised.

With Divinity on this scale gathered onto a single person’s soul, and she could still remain this clear-headed—by comparison, Mitole, the Star Abyss White Dragon, was downright pathetic.

Even so, Baris’s situation wasn’t something that could be resolved in the short term.

Because of the binding between Divinity and the soul, even if Baris switched her soul over to a Candlelight Illusion, the Divinity wouldn’t be stripped away or vanish.

Precisely because of this, Baris currently had no way to go to the real world. Her Divinity and herself were presently in a state of balance, but no one could guarantee that after switching worlds, this balance would still hold. If the Divinity in Baris’s body went berserk, then although Shen Sui and the others would be fine, the entire real world would be facing total annihilation.
