Nima didn’t hesitate. She raises her hands and focuses all her spiritual powers to summon as many soul chains as possible. "Kent, hang in there for ten seconds! I have a plan."

"Ten?! I will try. But you must match all that big talking with your next attack. Don’t embarrass me."

Before he could say further, the demonic leader’s shadows writhed and surged toward him. Kent gritted his teeth, pushing off the crumbling floor to dodge. He had no time to think, no time to strategize—only time to move.

His fists glowing with fire, shattering tendrils of darkness as he lashed toward him. Each punch he delivered sent a ripple through the leader’s form, but it was like punching smoke—the damage barely stuck.

The leader’s glowing eyes fixed on him. Its mount opened, revealing a spiralling abyss within.

"ENOUGH. The demonic leader Barked."

A shockwave exploded from its core. Kent was launched backwards, his body smashing into a broken pillar. His vision blurred. His muscles screamed.

But he saw it through the haze of pain—Nima was ready to do something. A ring of black chains beneath her body, spirals of dark energy twisting into the shape of a massive sigil.

She raised her hand.

CONSUME. "She gave a command to her soul chains."

The ground collapsed. Over ten chains exploded upward, engulfing the leader in a vortex of shadows.

The demonic leader roared, its form twisting violently as the chains sank into its semi-transparent body. Its shadows wavered, flickering between solid and ethereal.

Kent didn’t waste a second. Make it soul-solid again, Nima. I got this.

[Ding! Congratulations host. Upgrade complete. SOUL Slasher Power: 20%]

He pushed off the rubble. "Finally, my weapon is back." Then he pulls out his soul Slasher dagger blazing with both hellfire and Frost fire. "Alright, big guy. Time for round two." And he charged. Kent managed to land a slash to its Soul.

ARGH! The demonic leader growls in pain.

Its body gets frozen for a few seconds. Kent lands multiple cuts on the demonic leader’s body. Then Kent yelled ’EMBER SLASH’, Charging at the heart of the demonic leader.

A sword aura comes out of his dagger, aiming at the leader’s chest. It’s already passed three/four seconds, and the frozen effects have worn off. Kent didn’t get a chance to see the duration of the soul-slash effect.

"Shit! This guy is able to move."

The demonic leader managed to move his body. The Ember Slash cuts one of the arms of the enemy along with the Nima’s soul chains.

The demonic leader got free from the binding of soul chains. "YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS." Saying that, the demonic leader raises his other hand. Sucking all the demonic souls who were watching from the sidelines. Its body started to glow. Its hand started to regenerate. In the blink of an eye, it sucked almost all the disciples who were hiding and watching from the sidelines.

The Demonic Sect leader says, "Come back to me. Return my powers to me, you useless disciples. I have given you my powers to open the prison gate and find me some sacrifice. But all of you are useless."

A powerful force gets created by the sucking. Kent falls back. Nima yelled at Kent.

What have you done? I had him. Kent you… you stupid brother. Can’t you aim properly? "What did Grandpa Xian Yu teach you all this time? It looks like all those early morning training sessions are for nothing. I need to give him a piece of my mind when we return back ’home’."

Kent replied, Nima, please stop your nagging. Focus on the battle. Do it again. Don’t let it heal. It’ll be hard for us if we let it heal. We might get killed here if he is able to heal himself.

Ding! +999 SP copied from Nima.

Big brother, why are you yelling at me? You are the one who cut him loose. SIGH! I can only summon four chains now. This time, don’t miss it. I can’t hold it much longer. Go, soul chains bind my enemies.

CLANK!

CLANK!

Four soul chains bind the demonic Sect leader again. The battle raged. Kent kept up the pressure, repeatedly striking the leader as Nima’s spell weakened it. The chains of darkness wrapped tighter around its limbs, slowing its movements.

But it wasn’t enough. The demonic leader refused to fall. Even as its form flickered, it still fought back with one hand, lashing out with massive, sweeping strikes. Kent barely avoided one as the claw carved through the air inches from his face.

And then—Nima screamed, "You toilet cleaner." Her body shuddered. Her aura erupted, sending waves of dark energy spiralling outward. The ground cracked beneath her as her power surged.

And Kent felt it. Something was changing. The darkness around Nima shifted, warping into something stronger. Her presence expanded, the very air humming with raw energy.

Her cultivation was rapidly rising.

Kent’s eyes widened. "Nima—"

She lifted her gaze. And at that moment, the demonic Sect leader stopped moving.

For the first time since the battle began—It hesitated. It looked scared of Nima. Face full of tension. It scared the shit out of the demonic leader. The glowing eyes across its almost transparent body blinked, flickering uncertainty.

Kent saw his chance. He poured every ounce of strength into his next attack. His spiritual energy ignited the fire, spiralling around his dagger like a Twister.

And he Slash straight through the demonic Sect leader’s heart. ’EMBER SLASH!’ The impact shattered the air. The leader’s body convulsed, its shadows breaking apart as the force of the blow ripped through it.

For a moment…just a moment…everything was still. And then…The demonic leader collapsed.

Its form shattered, dissolving into spiralling wisps of dark mist. The entire pocket dimension trembled, the prison realm reacting to its guardian’s defeat.

And just like that…It was over. The soul chains of Nima pulled the remaining of the demonic leader’s soul.

Kent stood panting over the remains of the demonic leader. His Soul Slasher dagger disappeared from his hand and went back to system storage, and his hands clenched into fists. He could barely feel his arms. Every muscle burned. He turned his gaze at Nima.

She was glowing. Dark energy rippled around her, shifting and settling as her body adjusted to the surge of power. The oppressive force of D-Rank cultivation radiated from her, raw and untamed.

Kent exhaled. "Well… congrats on the level-up and getting your new soul servant."

Nima blinked, then grinned. "That was amazing."

Kent gave her a flat look. "You almost died. Next time, don’t talk recklessly. Even if you are much stronger than the enemy or you have an advantage. You must act with caution."

"Yes, I understand, but I have a new servant. When we go back, I will definitely make him clear our toilet."

"…Unbelievable, you are still holding onto your trash talk."

Before Kent could argue more, the elite disciple spectre from earlier stepped forward.

"You have proven your worth," it said solemnly. "The Gate of the Forsaken and the pocket dimension is yours to command."

Kent blinked. "Wait—what? I have to take care of the gate."

The spectre knelt. The other ghosts who survived followed. And in unison, they spoke: "We serve you now, Master."

Kent felt his brain short-circuit. What the Füçk!! I can’t control ghosts. Right now, what should I do?

He stared at the kneeling ghosts, their spectral forms flickering with eerie blue light. Hundreds of new ghosts came out of the gate. Some looked like ancient warriors, others like common folk who had perished long ago. All were kneeling in front of him and Nima.

"We serve you now, Master."

Kent pinched the bridge of his nose. "You guys… do realize I just punched a giant shadow monster into oblivion, right? I’m not your leader."

The elite disciple level-c, clearly the highest-ranking among them, bowed its head lower. " The demonic Sect leader was our eternal jailor.

Because of him, we were imprisoned here. He made us do all kinds of evil things. You have broken our chains. By the laws of this realm, you now wield the authority of the Forsaken Gate."

Nima tilted her head. "So, we own this place now?"

The spectre nodded.

Kent exhaled. "Great. That’s exactly what I wanted. A haunted house filled with dead people."

Nima smirked. "Sounds like a real estate goldmine. If you don’t want them, then it’s alright. I will take them all as my underlings."

Kent turned to her. "You’re enjoying this way too much. You can’t control these many ghosts."

"I did just level up, Kent. This whole pocket dimension nonsense turned out to be a blessing."

She lifted her hand, and a ripple of power surged through her aura. It was darker and heavier than before—like a storm cloud before it unleashed a downpour. The energy radiating from her was undeniable.

She had fully stepped into Level-D (mid) cultivation.
