A faint, golden energy pulsed from her fingertips. The cracks in the stone slowly began mending.
Kent’s eyes widened.
She just repaired it… with pure willpower? This must be her awakened superpower.
A few seconds later, the fountain was fully restored. Water flowed once more. People nearby gasped in surprise.
Kent crossed his arms. "Show-off."
Louis smiled softly. "If I have the power to fix things (earth-type awakeners), I should use it."
Kent stared at her for a moment. Maybe… she wasn’t just another spoiled noble. Maybe she is actually the type of person I…. And that thought scared him.
"Let’s keep moving," Kent muttered.
Louis nodded as Kent walked ahead, but she was watching him from behind and she seemed truly interested in Kent. Anyone can see she was looking at Kent like no other person matters to her anymore.
The streets of Metro City bustled with energy as Kent led Louis Vernsdale through the marketplace. She had seen a candy seller on the side of the road. She goes to buy candy.
’She had already experienced her first cheap meal—struggling with chopsticks at Old Man Chang’s noodle stall. Now, she is fully immersed in the world of common folk.’
And she loved it.
Kent, on the other hand, was still recovering from the shock. A noble princess, raised in wealth and luxury, was smiling like a kid in a candy shop over the most ordinary things.
And for some reason, that made him uneasy. "Why is she acting like this is the best day of her life?"
Kent sighed. "You’re too excited. It’s suspicious." You are a princess. You shouldn’t be this amazed by common things. What’s going on here?
Louis tilted her head. "Am I not allowed to enjoy myself?"
Kent rubbed his temples. "No, it’s just—forget it. Let’s go."
And so, the cheap tour continued.
Their next stop was a small street vendor selling skewers of grilled meat and vegetables. Kent wanted to see how she reacted to vegetables.
The smell alone was heavenly. Kent grabbed two skewers and handed one to Louis.
She examined it. "There’s… no silverware?"
Kent groaned. "No, Princess. You just eat it."
Louis hesitated, then took a careful bite. Her eyes widened.
"This is—" She took another bite, chewing slowly. "This is delicious!"
Kent smirked. "Told you."
Louis nodded, finishing her skewer surprisingly fast.
Kent raised an eyebrow. "You sure you’re a noble?"
Louis wiped her lips with a napkin. "Why?"
"You’re enjoying this a little too much."
Louis smiled. "Perhaps I just have good taste."
Kent scoffed. "Or maybe you’ve been missing out your whole life." I have some spiritual vegetables, if you want I can give you some.
Louis didn’t deny it. Okay! I will receive your gift. Then, she glanced around the busy market, watching merchants and customers haggle over prices.
"Back home," she murmured, "everything is planned. Ordered. Structured."
Kent finished his skewer. "Sounds boring."
Louis chuckled. "It is."
She looked at him, her expression unreadable. "That’s why today is special." She says, with a beautiful smile.
Kent felt something weird in his chest seeing her heavenly smile. He immediately ignored it just like before.
"Yeah, yeah. Let’s keep moving," he muttered.
Louis just smiled, following him.
Kent was about to take Louis to the city’s arcade when trouble found him first.
A foreigner man in flashy golden robes suddenly stepped in front of them, arms crossed, chin raised high. Behind him, a group of similarly dressed men stood like wannabe bodyguards.
Kent immediately hated him.
The man looked at Louis and smiled. "Ah, Princess Louis! What a coincidence!"
Louis frowned. "…Do I know you?"
The man laughed dramatically. "Of course! I am Victor Farrow, third son of Duke Farrow! A noble from Vernsdale, like yourself!" We met at your coming-of-age ceremony last year.
Louis blinked. "Oh. I see." I am sorry, I didn’t recognize you. ’She thinks that party was my first public appearance, father never let me out of the castle.’
Victor clearly expected a bigger reaction. He coughed awkwardly before turning to Kent. "And you are…?"
Kent smiled. "Just a guide trying to get through his day without problems."
Victor sneered. "A peasant guide, then."
Kent’s smile twitched. "Buddy, do you want to get punched?"
Louis sighed. "Sir Victor, what do you want?"
Victor dramatically flipped his golden cape. "I simply must ask—why are you walking around with this commoner? A princess should have better company!"
Louis crossed her arms. "I’m here because I want to be."
Victor looked physically pained. "Surely you jest."
Kent snorted. "She doesn’t."
Victor narrowed his eyes. "You. Peasant. You dare think yourself worthy of accompanying a noblewoman?"
Kent tilted his head. "What century are you from?" Don’t you know about equality?
Victor’s vein popped. "A noble should not mix with commoners!"
Kent nodded. "Cool. Then leave." Why are you wasting my time?
Victor turned red. "You are insolent—!" He pointed at Kent. "Throwing his gloves on the ground he says, I challenge you to a duel!"
Kent blinked. "A what?"
Victor’s lackeys cheered. "Yes! A duel! Teach him a lesson, young master!"
Kent sighed. "Do I get a say in this?"
Victor scoffed. "Are you afraid?"
Kent sighed again, rubbing his face.
"Louis," he muttered, "is every noble kid from my country this dramatic?"
Louis looked at Victor, then back at Kent. "I am sorry for my countryman’s behaviour Kent." You don’t need to fight him. I will talk to my father about this matter.
Kent replied, don’t worry Princess Louis, I don’t care about the idiots’ words.
Meanwhile, Victor’s goons quickly cleared a space in the street. Spectators gathered around.
Victor pulled out a fancy-looking rapier from his spatial treasure and did three unnecessary flourishes before pointing it at Kent.
"Draw your weapon, peasant!"
Kent yawned. "I really don’t want to do this."
Victor smirked. "I see! You surrender!"
Kent snorted. "You wish."
Victor lunged forward.
Kent sidestepped effortlessly.
Victor’s attack hit nothing but air.
Kent stretched lazily. "I thought nobles trained in swordsmanship?"
Victor growled. "You—!"
He attacked again.
Kent dodged effortlessly.
Victor attacked five more times.
Kent dodged all five times.
The crowd laughed.
Victor panted, sweating. "Fight back, coward!"
Kent smiled. "Okay."
He flicked his finger.
A tiny wave of sword intent blasted Victor’s rapier out of his hands.

It clattered onto the ground.
The crowd cheered.
Victor’s face turned pale.
Kent picked up the rapier and handed it back. "Here. You dropped this."
Victor’s hands shook. "You—You—!" I won’t forget this. Then, he ran away. His goons scrambled after him. The crowd erupted into laughter.
After the commotion, Kent and Louis walked away. Louis watched him curiously.
"You could’ve beaten him easily," she said.
Kent shrugged. "Yeah, but why bother? He embarrassed himself just fine."
Louis smiled. "You’re different from the men I know," she murmured. (Here she means her cousins.)
Kent raised an eyebrow. "What’s that supposed to mean?"
Louis glanced at the street around her—the people, the small shops, the normal life.
"I was born into a world of luxury," she said softly. "Everything was given to me. Structured. Expected."
Kent listened quietly.
Louis met his eyes. "I’ve never had a day like this before. No schedules. No formalities. Just… fun."
Kent shrugged. "Glad you’re enjoying the cheap life."
Louis laughed. "Maybe… this is what I’ve been missing."
Kent scratched his cheek. "You’re a weird princess."
Louis smiled. "And you’re an odd guide."
For a moment, they just looked at each other.
Then, Kent coughed and looked away. "Alright, we’re done here. I still need to take you to the arcade in town."
Louis laughed again. "Lead the way."
And so, the cheap tour continued. But now, something was different. Something had changed. For Louis, the day was more than just a simple tour. It was the day she realized she had fallen in love.
A few hours later outside the arcade, Kent says, the tour is over. Now time to take you to your residence. The sun is about to set.
Louis says, don’t worry about that, I can go by myself. She signals something waving her hands in the air. Suddenly, out of nowhere, two grey robe-wearing men land in front of them.
Kent is shocked by that. He was with her the entire day but he didn’t notice these two men. They were following Louis the entire day from the shadows.
Kent gets frustrated, damn it. If they were my enemy I could have died multiple times. I didn’t feel their spiritual energy. These guys must be practising some kind of assassination technique. If I had the system online… my system could inform me about them.
When will the system come back online? Kent realized something, wait a minute. Today I didn’t receive any SP notifications. What’s going on? Before Kent could go deep in thought.
Louis says time to say goodbye. I will look forward to meeting you in the cultivation college. A luxury car comes, and she leaves with her two bodyguards.
