Chapter 23: Moonlight Potion & New Synthesis

[Moonlight Potion (Player Version): By using the corpses of monsters as ingredients, the Player can refine a Moonlight Potion, granting them Experience.]

[The amount of Experience obtained depends on the Player’s mastery of the recipe, the Level of the slain monster, and the Level of the relevant abilities and Talents.]

Compared to the initial "NPC version" given by Homer, the Player Version of the Moonlight Potion had changed dramatically.

From simply enhancing the user’s Mana, it could now provide the "Player" with Experience.

Granted, the requirements had also changed accordingly.

It previously had no restrictions on who could refine this potion besides the relevant Class.

Now, however, it required the Player to possess Level 3 Transmutation.

Seeing this, Aurelius acted decisively.

He might have hesitated about what to upgrade using the Alchemist’s Handbook had he not obtained this recipe.

But now, there was no need to think about it any longer.

The value of the Moonlight Potion was self-evident.

Aurelius retrieved the Alchemist’s Handbook from the System’s storage space.

Then, he activated this Class Item.

Both its cover and pages instantly burst into flames.

Information flooded Aurelius’ mind. A notification rang out.

"Transmutation has been upgraded to Level 3."

Aurelius only briefly paused to digest the information.

Soon, he focused on the earlier prompt, asking him whether he wished to learn the Moonlight Potion Recipe, and pressed "Yes".

Another stream of information entered his mind. This time regarding the Moonlight Potion’s refinement.

’The process of refining Potions is not much different than crafting a Relic.’

’For Alchemists, everything depends on Transmutation.’

’As long as I gather the required materials and my Transmutation’s Level is high enough, refining this Potion will be a piece of cake.’

Imagining himself refining Moonlight Potion after Moonlight Potion and gaining EXP while lying on the safety of his own bed, Aurelius’ face broke into a faint smile.

Of course, he knew this was impossible.

He had no idea how effective the Moonlight Potion was.

Even if it was proved to be extremely effective, it could only be taken once per day.

Whether to find the required ingredients or to upgrade normally through "monster hunting", he still had to work hard.

’Let’s see. It’s worth giving it a try,’ Aurelius thought.

He concentrated on the grids at the edge of his vision.

One of them expanded, and a small rabbit corpse was withdrawn, appearing right in front of him.

Spirit rushed toward his palms. It turned into a soft golden glow that extended outward, wrapping around the Red Hare Rabbit.

It didn’t take long.

Within only a couple of minutes, what used to be a rabbit monster had turned into a puddle of crimson liquid.

Aurelius’ eyes narrowed.

He grabbed a bowl from the nearby table and guided the liquid into it.

It was only as it settled at the bowl’s bottom, glistening beneath the morning sun and causing a bloody moon to appear on its surface, that he finally relaxed.

He knew he had succeeded.

Although the Moonlight Potion was neither refined through the strongest ingredients nor with the highest Level Transmutation, it was more than enough to test its effectiveness.

After dipping a finger into it to ensure it was safe to consume, Aurelius picked up the bowl.

He raised it to his mouth, and tilting it slightly, let its contents flow down his throat.

The Potion’s taste was somewhat bitter, nearly making him spit it out.

But Aurelius was not in the state of mind to care about this.

[Consumed a Moonlight Potion. EXP +250]

The Moonlight Potion had worked!

Just as its description had previously claimed, consuming it had directly increased his Experience.

EXP Potion!

This was the name that surfaced in Aurelius’ mind, knowing that he might have discovered something incredible.

He didn’t know whether the original recipe was this earth-shattering.

But after the Player Template had taken effect, it had become something that most Players would describe as "overpowered".

Even Aurelius was surprised.

After double-confirming that he had not seen incorrectly, he summoned his Player Panel and hurriedly put the Experience to use.

[Alchemist Sub-Class Cap has been removed. New Level Limit: 10.]

Good news came one after another.

Not only had he managed to reach Level 5 as an Arcanist, but the Alchemist Sub-Class had also broken through its limitations.

For the foreseeable future, Aurelius would have the chance to boost his stats once again through the cheap Leveling provided by this Sub-Class.

’It seems that visiting the Dryad Forest has to be put on the agenda once again,’ Aurelius noted, though looking out of the window, he knew that now was not the time.

Thankfully, he was in no rush.

Although he had run out of Experience, he had something else he had to deal with first.

His attention shifted to the Alchemist’s Gun skill, and with his superior Intelligence, he was able to learn it easily.

However, things didn’t end there.

He activated Synthesis.

His point of view rapidly changed.

Several lights appeared in front of him, each shimmering with its own unique brilliance.

Aurelius’ gaze wandered through them, eventually focusing on three skills.

Spirit Bullet. Alchemist’s Gun. Lethal Strike.

One came from his Arcanist Class, while the other two were obtained through other methods.

Regardless of the way they had appeared, though, these three abilities were all somewhat related.

The connection between the first two was obvious.

As for Lethal Strike, it could significantly enhance the destructive power of his next strike before entering a short cooldown.

Aurelius stared at these three lights for several seconds.

In the past, he might not have dared to "Synthesize" a Class skill.

But after meeting Selene, learning about the Sunless Sect, and interacting with the mysterious Homer, Aurelius knew he had to increase his strength. No matter what it took.

Gritting his teeth, he finally made his decision.

Soon, the lights representing his other skills vanished.

In the meantime, the remaining three approached each other.

They grew closer and closer, until finally, they fused.

"Ding!"

"Synthesis was successful."

"You’ve acquired..."
