Chapter 1628: Chapter 1627: So Soon..?
The living room was deathly still as we all leaned forwards and waited for Lady Loralei and Lady D’Arcon to finish their deliberations, the two extremely prolific healers chattering very quietly as they tested our blood yet again.
It felt like yesterday when they had done this to verify that I was with Anput’s pups, so for me I was having a bout of deja vu that only fed off of my nausea to make me feel like the world was unjustifiably cruel for seemingly no reason.
The room spun before Leone reached over and gently laid her arm around my shoulders, comforting me and offering me a cup of tea that tended to help... and thankfully it did here as well, because if I ended up being revolted by another of my favorite things...
Mother looked over with worry yet also expectance as she gave me a small smile, while Mom lounged on the sofa and looked as unbothered as she usually did, though for all of us who knew her we could see the energy rampaging beneath the surface, waiting for the appropriate time to explode outwards.
My thoughts were interrupted when Lady Loralei coughed gently and turned towards us with a smile, her refined features comforting me somewhat as she stepped forwards and said "Well... this was far sooner than any of us could have anticipated."
Lady D’Arcon nodded in agreement and gave a warm smile towards Jahi as she said "Congratulations. A new Asmodia is to be born.", the news causing my blue skinned wife to go stiff as she just stared at the blindfolded woman with a blankness that made me chuckle.
Anput was smirking as she sat up from the other sofa, her eyes bright with mischief as she immediately felt the need to ask "Kat’s pregnant with a Demoness~? Really~?", just making sure to drive that point home for Jahi.
"Indeed she is. Now, before we get all caught up in the celebrations, please listen. Katherine, the blood of Demons is potent. It overwhelms and dominates practically all other blood that we know of. As such your body is going to react to this pregnancy far more dramatically than it had to the five pups you had with Begum Anput."
Lady Loralei’s formal report felt somewhat out of place for such happy news between family, yet it also grounded me as I focused on her more than I focused on Jahi, who was slowly beginning to grin as she looked right at me.
"It will not be as tough of a pregnancy as it was for your Mother, but it shall be a challenging time for you. These upcoming nine months are going to be extremely different from the months you spent pregnant with pups, because the Demoness requires something different from them.
I will be handing Leone the appropriate recipes for what I am prescribing in advance, and you, my dear, need to make sure you are adhering to these prescriptions always. Never miss a dose, never miscalculate the dose.
Your body is going to need more mana to be comfortable, more nutrients to sustain this baby, and you yourself are going to require more... well, everything. What I can prescribe is rather generic compared to what the Demon Clans can give you, but it is also free. Do with that what you will. Leone."
The older Vampire beckoned for her daughter to step out with her for privacy, allowing Jahi to get up and take Leone’s spot immediately as she wrapped me in a tight, extremely joyful and also suffocating hug.
"By the Goddesses~! Kat~! You’re pregnant~!"
The happiness she was feeling was trickling through to me steadily from the bond, keeping me just as elated as she was and making me melt into her arms as I hummed softly and nodded, though when I began to feel that warm and pure joy heat into something else I pushed her back gently.
She pouted at me before releasing me and getting up, practically bouncing up and down as she grinned at Mom rather triumphantly, causing the older Demoness to raise a brow before the two started to argue about something or other.
I ignored it and instead went to my Mother, who was smiling at me as she pulled me into a hug, rubbing her cheek against mine as she murmured "Congratulations, Katherine~! You and Jahi were blessed by the Goddesses, surely~!".
Considering everything I had to agree with her, though knowing what I did about not only myself but also that I had prayed for this not that long ago did nothing to dull my belief and gratitude that Reincantra was listening.
If anything it only amplified my reverence for the one who had taken me from something so horrible and placed me into something so spectacular, and being able to know for a fact that she was there, watching over me... it was soothing.
"I am beyond amazed that you are pregnant again... I had believed that this would take forever and a half to happen again, just like it will for Ria and I... Truly, you are blessed... and I am thankful for it~!"
Mother held me close and gave me a soft kiss on the brow before letting me go, releasing me for Anput and causing the older Dogkin to smile knowingly as the Jackalkin slid up to me with a rather telling grin.
There was no doubt that she knew what Anput was coming here to say, but she gave us space and moved to placate her own wife as the argument that Jahi and Mom had grew heated... or maybe they were just releasing their energy in the best way they knew.
"Call me selfish all you want, but you getting knocked up again makes me so damn happy, Kat..."
At first I had to raise a brow and stare at my mate as she gave me a nice hug, her arms wrapped around my waist while her lips brushed against my neck as she murmured that to me, though what she said next was exactly what I was expecting...
"Since it means that restriction Jahi placed is gone now, I can’t wait~ to mate with you properly again... Goddesses above I’ve been itching to mate properly with you or with Leone..."
Her selfishness was truly there, but it was so... Anput of her to say that that it didn’t really do much besides make me grin and kiss her back when she came in for one, though when her hands started sliding downwards I pushed her away like I had Jahi.
Not that I would be able to push them away again later, but we all knew that...
