Chapter 425: Tommy’s Dead

"Because Tommy is going to die."

Julio frowned, his eyes narrowing dangerously as he stared at Liza, wondering if he had heard her correctly.

"Where are you going with this, Madam?" he asked, his tone dropping. "I don’t like it."

Before Liza could answer, her phone rang.

She took it out, glanced at the screen, and answered.

She listened quietly to what Lucian had to say before whispering, "Okay."

After ending the call, she placed the phone on the table between them.

"You heard me right," she said. "Tommy... is going to die."

She studied the shadow that settled over Julio’s expression.

"If I want my husband to live, then he has to, Julio," she said before taking a slow breath. "I understand why you’re suspicious of Dominion. But you and I both know Tommy better than anyone."

"Tommy may have retired, but there has always been a reason behind everything he does. He’s not someone who trusts people easily, and even when he does, he never lets his guard down," Liza continued. "I may not know the details of Dominion’s alliance with the Di Carpios, but I know my husband."

She swallowed the lump in her throat.

"That is why I chose to trust Dominion."

Her voice remained steady.

"Julio, what happened in the past is already over. I lost our child too—not just Tommy. Unless Dominion gives me a reason to believe they’re part of this, I’ll follow what my heart tells me."

"And right now... this is what I want."

Every word carried conviction.

Not once did she stutter.

Not once did she hesitate.

"My husband will remain under Dominion’s protection," she declared. "And if you choose not to honor my wishes, then remember this."

Her expression sharpened.

"At the end of the day, I am Tommy’s wife. Before anything else, I am still the lady of his family." She held his gaze. "You are not to lay a finger on Dominion. Unless proven otherwise, I trust them with Tommy’s life."

Silence settled between them.

Liza could tell Julio wasn’t pleased with her decision.

The way he looked at her... it was as though he wanted to strangle her.

Then again, Julio had never liked her.

To him, Liza had always been Tommy’s greatest weakness.

Because of her, Tommy had turned his back on their family.

But despite everything...

"How is he going to die?" Julio finally asked, his expression unchanged.

A faint smile appeared on Liza’s face.

"Lucian believes whoever attacked Tommy will come back to finish the job. Even if he’s wrong, he still wants to announce Tommy’s death," she explained. "That way, the enemy will have no reason to return, and Tommy can recover in peace."

Julio listened quietly, nodding to himself.

"Not a bad plan," he admitted. "What about the people who attacked him? Has Dominion discovered who was behind it?"

"Unfortunately, no." She shook her head. "They’re still trying to track—"

"It was Marshal Di Carpio." Julio leaned forward, resting an arm on the table.

"Madam, no one else would do this except that loser. That motherfucker is still alive only because my boss spared him."

He shook his head, his eyes widening.

"And that little man knows that as long as Tommy is alive, his own pathetic life is hanging by a thread." A cruel smile tugged at his lips.

"But what he doesn’t realize... If Tommy dies, I’ll personally take his head."

Just as Julio had said, as long as Tommy lived, Marshal remained under his mercy.

But if Tommy died...

Everyone on Tommy’s side would tear Marshal apart.

Even if this incident had never happened.

In other words...

Marshal had been living under a death sentence all along.

"Tommy forgave him," Julio continued. "He let the past go and made us promise to do the same. We agreed—not because we forgave Marshal, but because we respected Tommy."

His eyes darkened.

"And we wanted Marshal to reach the peak he’d always dreamed of... before taking everything away from him."

Julio tapped a finger against the table.

"Tell Lucian it’s Marshal. And if he’s truly on your side... he won’t interfere when we make our move."

Meanwhile, back at the hospital, doctors and nurses rushed toward the executive floor.

Anyone who saw the commotion knew it was an emergency.

Among those hurrying inside was the nurse.

Only moments later, she slipped out again.

She hurried down the hallway before ducking into the fire exit.

Her body still trembled violently, her face drained of color.

She hadn’t stayed long enough to see what was happening, but she knew everything was unfolding according to the plan.

"Come on..." she muttered, repeatedly missing the buttons on her phone with her shaking fingers. "I have to tell them."

After several failed attempts, she finally managed to place the call.

The phone rang.

Once.

Twice.

Several more times.

Just when she thought no one would answer, the line connected.

"Hello?" the nurse called, her voice trembling. "Is... is anyone there?"

Still no response, only silence.

She swallowed hard. Part of her feared these people would harm her family if they discovered she was lying.

The other part feared Lucian even more.

Her lips quivered.

"I-it’s done," she stammered. "He’s been pronounced dead. I did what you told me to do. Please... leave my family alone. Please stop ruining our lives—"

Before she could finish, the call disconnected.

Tears welled in her eyes as she stared blankly at the screen.

She didn’t know whether she had finally escaped these people’s grasp. To make sure, she immediately called home.

Then she called her younger sister—the one whose education she had been paying for.

She just needed to hear that they were safe.

Meanwhile, somewhere else in the world, Memphis was distributing relief goods alongside several volunteers when one of his men quietly approached him.

The man leaned close and whispered something into his ear.

The corners of Memphis’s lips slowly curled into a satisfied smile.

He turned his attention back to the homeless man standing before him.

"Here," Memphis said, slipping something extra into the relief pack. "You’re lucky I’m in a good mood today."

He then glanced at his subordinate and gave a subtle nod.

The man lowered his head in understanding before walking away.

To relay the good news to Marshal.

The news that Tommy was dead.
