Chapter 394: Chapter 394: The Seeds Left That Night_1
Reportedly, Ye Lu has brought her two kids over.
If Ye Lu wants to move into the Gu family, those two children must live here as well.
What she was most worried about, however, was Gu Yan.
Although more and more women are remarrying with children nowadays and she herself had brought Gu Yan when she married into the Gu family, Gu Yan has always had an intense personality and she wondered if he could truly accept this.
That’s why she planned to come and see for herself.
"Auntie, you’re here," Ye Lu greeted her, her emotions a jumbled mix. This woman had once ruthlessly driven her out of the Gu family, and now they were about to become family.
For Gu Yan’s sake, she tried to move past the unpleasantness of the past and hoped that Mrs. Gu could accept her.
"Yuanyuan, Yiyi, come and meet Granny Gu."
Ye Lu took a deep breath and brought the two children over to Mrs. Gu.
Mrs. Gu had already heard about these two children, having seen them at Shang Jingchen’s wedding. However, her mind had been completely focused on Gu Yan at the time, worrying about his reaction, so she hadn’t paid much attention to Ye Lu’s children.
Now with these two darlings standing in front of her and able to examine them up close, especially when her gaze fell upon Ye Yuan’s face, she was so astonished that her entire body shuddered.
"How can this be?" she gasped involuntarily.
Ye Lu was taken aback, "Auntie, what did you say?"
Why was her expression so shocked upon seeing little Yuanyuan?
"Mom," Gu Yan’s voice was heavy, laced with an undertone of warning.
Mrs. Gu started, quickly masking her shock and forcing out a smile, "I just think he’s terribly cute, like some little star on the television."
She bent down, her cold demeanor shifting into something almost gentle and affectionate, as she embraced the two children, "You two darlings, both of you are so cute. Who’s the older brother and who’s the little sister? How old are you both?"
Ye Yuan rotated his eyes, "We’re twins, both six years old."
Mrs. Gu shivered subtly. A storm was brewing in her heart.
Twins, six years old, oh my goodness! If the timing adds up, they truly were Jun Huang’s children, her own great-grandchildren.
She was taken aback. She couldn’t believe she was already a grandmother, with two such adorable great-grandchildren. She was thrilled yet at the same time felt overwhelmed and unsettled.
It seemed like both Ye Lu and Jun Huang were completely in the dark about the true identity of these children. What should she do?
Ye Lu found Mrs. Gu’s reaction strange. She had initially thought that Mrs. Gu would be aloof towards the children, since no one would like it if these extra burdens were brought in.
But to her surprise, Mrs. Gu seemed to like the two children very much. Her conversations with them were full of smiles, the warmth in her eyes didn’t seem to be fake either.
Ye Lu’s mind filled with doubt. Mrs. Gu’s behavior felt out of place.
After dinner, Mrs. Gu suddenly called Gu Yan into her room.
Ye Yuan quickly told Ye Lu, "Mommy, I need to pee. I’ll head to the bathroom first."
Then he vanished as fast as a streak of smoke.
...
In the study, the atmosphere was tense as a stand-off ensued between mother and son.
Mrs. Gu’s face was flushed with excitement as she looked at Gu Yan, "Do you know who those children are? They are his children, his flesh and blood!"
She recognized Ye Yuan as soon as she saw him. He was the spitting image of Jun Huang as a child. There was no way she could be wrong.
Plus, the ages matched up perfectly. They were definitely the result of that night.
"I know," Gu Yan curtly responded.
Mrs. Gu looked shocked, "Knowing that, can you still accept them? They’re his children."
"I... can accept them. Mother, you should start planning the wedding immediately."
Mrs. Gu shook her head slowly.
Gu Yan’s face hardened, "Mother, what do you mean? Weren’t you supporting my marriage to her?"
