Chapter 332: Chapter 332: Unchangeable Nature_1
"You’re not willing?" Gu Yan’s expression fell.
Seeing his downcast look made Ye Lu’s heart ache; she couldn’t bear to upset him.
Simply taking care of him like any friend would; that should be fine, right?
The Third Young Master wasn’t even in the country at the moment, so his control over her was loosened. As long as she was careful not to let him find out, it should go well, right?
"Alright, once you are healthy, I’ll leave." This would be her last time caring for him. Once he recovered, she would leave.
She called Feiyu and informed him that she was planning to resume her studies and was currently dealing with some school issues, so she was going to stay at a female classmate’s house.
Feiyu asked her for the female classmate’s name and address, Ye Lu hastily gave him Feng Aoxue’s. She knew Feiyu would check, so she wouldn’t dare lie.
...
The villa where Gu Yan was going to recuperate was, surprisingly, the very same one from before.
However, many of the flowers in the garden had withered.
This place was full of warm, happy memories of youth. Ye Lu stood staring blankly at the familiar scenery, her face reflecting a nostalgic longing.
"There used to be many roses and osmanthus flowers here... all dried up now. Your gardener is incredibly irresponsible. Do they sleep all day? They should be fired!" Ye Lu grumbled.
Right here was where her labor of love used to thrive!
Because Gu Yan was a dark, corner-dwelling mushroom, he disliked anything lively and sunny, like flowers.
The first time she came here, the place was bare except for a couple of trees.
"I can’t believe I wasted so much effort turning this into a dream garden."
Looking at the withered trees, Gu Yan spoke with a bitter tone, "After you left, I moved out of here and closed it off completely. I didn’t let anyone in to manage it."
Ye Lu was taken aback; she hadn’t expected that after that incident, he’d also left this place and never returned.
Completely closed off. It was because he didn’t want to face the painful past.
If that was the case, then why return and reopen everything from before?
She couldn’t understand and didn’t dare to think about it.
She hastily moved away, only to come across an orange tree beneath a larger tree. Several fruits hung on it; she couldn’t help but brighten up and pick one.
"I planted this orange tree before. I didn’t expect it to survive without water for so long, and even bear fruit. It’s a miracle."
Seeing the orange tree, a shiver ran down Gu Yan’s spine.
Not all of the past was dead. Perhaps, there was hope for new blossoms. Was he being too obstinate?
Ye Lu peeled the skin off to reveal the vibrant orange flesh. She tasted a piece.
Wow, this was so sour it could kill someone, how could an orange be so sour?
"How is it?" seeing her twisted face, Gu Yan asked.
"Sweet, it’s surprisingly sweet. I was just caught off guard. Do you want to try some?" Ye Lu calmly gave a thumbs up.
Gu Yan was puzzled. He took a piece of the orange from her and tasted it, immediately souring his teeth and turning his face pale.
"You actually fell for it, you’re so slow!" Ye Lu couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Gu Yan glared at her exasperatedly. She was always like this, tricking him into trying strange things.
Seeing his twisted expression of discomfort, she felt happy. Truly, old habits die hard.
"Oh, that’s a pond. The water in the pond is still clear."
Ye Lu went over joyfully. Even though the edge of the pond was overgrown with weeds, the water was still clear and there were even fishes swimming inside.
