Chapter 2103: Chapter 2103: Wanting to See, Not Wanting to See

Looking at the monitor on the door, it was someone she hadn’t seen in a long time, someone she wanted to see but also didn’t want to see.

"Open the door, I know you’re home!" The cold, contemplative voice came through the monitor, unhurried and authoritative, not commanding in severity, yet determined not to stop until the goal was achieved.

"Come in." She had intended to pretend she wasn’t home, but he had already seen through it. If she kept pretending, it would inevitably be awkward. Besides, seeing the solitary figure in black military uniform stepping through the snow in the night, her heart would ache. She pressed the voice control and opened the door.

The night was cold and bright, snowflakes fell, and the ground was all white. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

He took off his black military cap, shook off the snowflakes, and walked in.

"Officer, why are you looking for me?" She was a little uneasy, fearing that some of her covert actions had been discovered by him. If he decided to stop her, it would be troublesome.

"No need for such vigilance, your expression looks as if I’m the evil officer who ate into your house." Ling Kong snorted softly, not angry but certainly dissatisfied.

Jun Yiyi blushed, her thoughts exposed, feeling guilty: "I didn’t think that way. For someone as bright and shining as you to grace my humble abode, it is a great honor."

"Three years, and no progress in anything, but your skill in flattery has certainly improved." Ling Kong’s phoenix eyes glanced coldly at her.

Jun Yiyi felt awkward; otherwise, she wouldn’t know how to face him without pretending to joke in this courteous manner.

After all, after that incident, she remembered the past, knew the truth, understood how he sacrificed himself to save her, and realized that he was the one she had loved for a long time.

Such overwhelming emotions, bottled up in her heart, couldn’t be vented, fearing they’d explode if not careful.

But now, she no longer had the right to be with him.

She wanted revenge, and the target was his adoptive father. She didn’t want to drag him into it, for his adoptive father had saved his life and given him a new home and future in this world, a debt of immense gratitude. She didn’t want him caught in between, suffering from guilt and becoming an ingrate; regardless of which side he took, he’d surely be in pain.

Besides, by now, would he still want her?

She had no doubt that he once loved her deeply, but in this new world, he too had forgotten everything. Maybe that love was too heavy for him, which is why he wanted to forget. Over the years, after enduring so much pain, perhaps he had decided to let her go.

After all, in the past three years, he hadn’t pestered her much; although he cared, his attitude wasn’t passionate, probably just his innate tendency as a brother to look after her!

If he had to choose again, he might not choose her.

"Then why are you here, um... I assure you I haven’t done anything wrong at school or in the military, probably..." She carefully watched him. She was always cautious in her actions, never letting any dissent show for her companions to discover.

But no matter how much trust she earned, given her identity, the Councilman Faction would never fully trust her. However, they were still willing to use her, as her achievements were outstanding, she could serve as a propaganda tool, and she was useful, and that was enough.

Was he still here to monitor her? Though they didn’t meet often, it was consistent, almost unchanging once a month.

But such meetings really made her feel tormented. Seeing him, thinking of her past misdeeds and misunderstandings towards him, made her feel uncomfortable.
