Chapter 2101: Chapter 2101: Sweetheart

Councilman Helian closed his eyes: "Is there a need to say it? Of course, we must strive to heighten the tragic atmosphere on site, escalate the situation, and pin the responsibility for her death on Governor Yun, launching more attacks against him! As for Madam Aisha, hold a grand funeral for her and issue press releases, portraying her as a tragic figure of justice sacrificed, while condemning Governor Yun, thus elevating the just and towering image of my faction." ๐‘“๐‘Ÿโ„ฏ๐˜ฆ๐“Œ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฃ๐‘›๐‘œ๐“‹๐‘’๐“.๐‘โ„ด๐“‚

...

"Let me through, let me through." Yiyi screamed desperately, tearing through the crowd, frantically rushing toward the stage in the square. She had lost all reason, her mind blank, haunted only by the image of Madam Aisha dying in a pool of blood.

Witnessing her foster motherโ€™s tragic death, she could not bear it.

The agony and hatred surged like lava from beneath, on the brink of a massive eruption.

Madam Aisha died to save her, sacrificing her life in exchange for the promise of her future, becoming a casualty of the struggle.

She hated Governor Yun, hated Councilman Helian, and hated herself even more.

She, along with them, had caused the death of Madam Aisha, merely an unfortunate woman who had never known happiness, and thus met her tragic end.

She could not forgive herself.

Tears gushed forth, her heart splitting into countless pieces, guilt, self-reproach, anger, and grief crushing her chest to the point of bursting.

She stumbled and charged forward, only to be stopped by bodyguards surrounding the stage, who sternly warned her not to approach.

She didnโ€™t listen, or perhaps she could no longer hear anything, only continuing to struggle and forge ahead with all her might.

Such uncontrollable behavior was naturally viewed as a suspect intending to cause a disturbance, so she was violently attacked, punched and kicked to subdue her to the ground.

Yet no one expected this seemingly weak girl, battered to the ground, her face bruised, hair disheveled, bleeding from her nose and eyes, would still fight to rise, attempting to break through their siege, utterly oblivious to the danger, as even if she were beaten to death, there would be no issue.

The bodyguards swung iron rods, intending to strike her on the back.

But a sudden flying kick sent the rods flying from their hands, causing a painful crack in their wrists.

A tall, slender figure rushed in like the wind, anxiously embracing the girl from behind, refusing to release her no matter how she struggled, fought, and attacked him.

The bodyguards, initially planning to swarm and take down the one who appeared suddenly, paled and couldnโ€™t help but retreat a few steps, knowing full well they recognized the man who appeared, even if they didnโ€™t recognize the girl.

Son of Councilman Helian, Major General Ling Kong, who had recently been credited with numerous military achievements.

Judging by his anxious, panicked demeanor as he embraced the girl, this was surely someone dear to his heart, and this time they had unwittingly provoked serious trouble, fearing a tragic outcome.

But the Major General had no time to cast even a cold glance at them; he was desperately trying to calm the girl, to bring her back to a state of calm from her madness.

He covered her eyes with his hand, preventing her from looking at the bloodstain on the stage, then whispered tirelessly in her ear, speaking words that slowly coaxed her back to awareness. As if realizing something, she shivered all over, pulled his hand away, grabbing it tightly, and slowly turned to look at him.

A voice, hoarse beyond measure and filled with despair, floated from her lips.

"Brother Ling Kong... Iโ€™m in so much pain..."
