Chapter 1617: Chapter 1617: Loving Midnight Snack

He’s doing it on purpose, isn’t he? Seeing her sulk and refuse to eat, he poured her portion away, not leaving any for her. He wanted her to be so hungry that she’d have to beg him. Damn Brother Ling Kong.

"Who’s a mouse, huh? I’m just having trouble sleeping, with nothing to do, so I wandered into the kitchen. Happened to see a carrot in the fridge, cough... thought I’d top up my carotene, is that so wrong?"

Even though her stomach was growling, Yiyi stubbornly retorted, full of bravado.

Come what may, she couldn’t lose face in front of him.

Ling Kong sneered secretly, "Oh, so that’s it. I thought you were hungry."

"I’m not hungry! Why are you up then, wandering like a ghost in the middle of the night? Are you a restless spirit, haunting everywhere?" Yiyi gritted her teeth. With him staring at her like that, she didn’t even feel like eating the carrot anymore.

She had been thinking of scavenging a few drinks to fill her stomach. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Ling Kong shrugged, "I’m up for a midnight snack. I exercised quite a bit tonight, so I burned a lot of energy. I’m thinking of making some snacks. Want to join?"

"No need, I’m not hungry." Yiyi averted her face defiantly, as if she’d yield so easily.

If she yielded, it would imply approval of his taking her away. She couldn’t be charmed or bribed that easily by him.

Besides, can he even make decent snacks?

Anyway, anything she made would definitely be inedible. From a young age, she never dirtied her ten fingers with kitchen work; she’d never even handled a pot before.

He’s a rich young master too, surely his cooking is awful, bound to give her a stomachache.

Seeing her proud expression, Ling Kong didn’t say anything, just let a sly smile play on his lips. He casually pulled out a live lobster from the freezer, along with some cream and cheese.

When Yiyi saw the live lobster, she couldn’t help but think of the delicious lobster dishes at home. Her mouth watered, her eyes sparkled.

"Yiyi, you want some?" Ling Kong teased maliciously, waving the lobster in front of her, tempting her.

"Hmph, can you even cook something edible? I’m afraid of eating a charred black lobster, stuck with a mouthful of black, and ending up needing a stomach pump, how dreadful." Yiyi sneered, scoffing at the idea that he’d ruin the lobster.

A rich young master like him, accustomed to dining in high-end restaurants with chefs at home, even less capable of handling chores than her. Could he really make tasty lobster? She doubted it; she feared he might even hold the knife the wrong way.

"Yiyi, you underestimate me so, now I must fully show my skills."

With a confident smile, Ling Kong donned an apron, put on gloves, and began expertly handling the lobster.

He is indeed a young master, but he wasn’t always one and had his share of hardships. Later, he learned some culinary skills from his mom, Mu Bao’er, seriously.

After all, he was thinking long-term—like when he and Yiyi got married in the future. If neither of them could cook, they’d just stare at each other when hungry, that would be disastrous.

Sure, they have a chef at home, but sometimes when you want to travel, rent a house by the lake, and enjoy a romantic world for two, ordering takeaway just lacks style.

Moreover, he quite envied the scene of a sunlit kitchen with his mom making a heartwarming breakfast and dad hugging her from behind, the two snuggling together—a scene so warm and blissful.

But he couldn’t hope for Yiyi, that lazy girl, to cook. He guessed if she did, it would be chaos, with the kitchen catching on fire.
