Chapter 1540: Chapter 1540: Decisive and Efficient
The colleagues laughed joyfully, took the drink, and drank it without hesitation. Although Yiyi usually didn’t like this person much, on such occasions, everyone showed respect, so she too had to give him face and drank it all in one go.
After drinking a few more glasses, the group began to feel a little dizzy. Yiyi was the first to realize something was wrong.
Her alcohol tolerance wasn’t exactly strong, but it wasn’t bad either. She had never felt so easily intoxicated, especially since she hadn’t drunk much before.
As soon as she mentioned feeling dizzy, other colleagues began to painfully rub their temples, confirming the dizziness.
Yiyi opened her drowsy eyes and saw that her colleagues were all swaying, while the professor had simply collapsed. Instantly, alarm bells went off in her heart, realizing something was not right.
"Damn, we’ve been drugged."
The others vaguely heard and showed signs of terror and vigilance, but their bodies were powerless to resist the overwhelming sensations. Some attempted to stand up and call out but fell back onto the sofa.
Yiyi’s heart raced with a mix of fear and urgency, not realizing this was directed at her. Seeing everyone had been drugged, she thought a mysterious organization was targeting their research group, possibly spies from those military powers in Europe or Asia attempting to steal military secrets from them.
If captured and secrets were seized, it was unlikely they’d survive.
With a spark of quick thinking, Yiyi’s instincts kicked in. Unlike her colleagues, she had encountered many dangerous gunfight scenes growing up, accompanying her mother and Third Young Master father, so her actions in life-threatening situations were decisive and swift.
While still somewhat conscious, she immediately grabbed a fruit knife from the platter on the table, shocking Arez, who couldn’t comprehend her sudden action.
She then cut her arm, causing blood to gush out, dripping from her snow-white arm.
The sharp pain instantly alleviated the dizziness brought on by the drugs, allowing her mind to regain a moment of clarity.
Stunned, Arez watched Yiyi, in this critical moment, the young miss was unexpectedly fearless, not crying or shouting helplessly, but immediately seeking a way out. He had never anticipated such a turn of events and was momentarily clueless on what to do, feeling scared and tense.
Already taking advantage of her clarity, Yiyi retrieved her phone from her handbag, mustering her heavy head, quickly dialed the military base’s security department.
Arez snapped back to awareness, realizing that if she alerted the military, it would be disastrous.
He immediately lunged forward, knocking her phone to the ground.
Yiyi looked at him in astonishment, her beautiful eyes gradually becoming sharp and piercing: "Arez, what do you mean by this?"
She glanced around at her colleagues, who had already fallen onto the couch. Although Arez also appeared dizzy, he was clearly more conscious than the others. Coupled with his current behavior, evidently... she was both shocked and furious. This bastard had always been sinister and annoying in the project group, but she never expected he’d stoop so low as to harm colleagues.
"Which country are you a spy for?"
"Spy? Haha, you’re overthinking..." Arez, realizing he had been exposed, didn’t bother pretending anymore. Since all the colleagues were down, he grinned spitefully at Yiyi, showing hatred and a vicious expression, "The one I want to deal with is you. I want you dead."
Yiyi was taken aback, having never offended this person, with hardly any interaction with him. Yet, he intended to kill her. She couldn’t understand how she had offended him.
