Chapter 1501: Chapter 1501: Conclusion Part Forty-Nine
Dr. K understood her feelings well: "Yes, I did say that before, and this drug is indeed effective, but its potency is too strong. If he weren’t injured and had a strong physical capacity, there would be a bigger hope. But now he’s suffered a fatal gunshot wound, with multiple complications, and simply can’t withstand this potent drug. Forcing an injection would only hasten his death."
Ye Lu’s body shook violently, her face pale as death, and she almost fell to the ground.
The faces of those waiting around all darkened, unable to hide their sadness.
"So what are you planning to do now?" Ye Lu asked blankly.
Dr. K said heavily, "Right now, Professor Slonan and the others are still inside trying to maintain his vital signs, while I... I need to go to the drug storage to find a substitute drug."
Ye Lu’s eyes were filled with despair: "But after all the research, only this drug was developed. Can we still find another effective one now?"
Dr. K also felt distressed, as the feeling of wanting to save but being helpless attacked once again. Although doctors often face life and death, this time, he didn’t want to face that powerlessness.
"Until the last moment, we have to do our best!"
After saying this, he hurriedly left with his assistant to the laboratory’s drug storage.
Ye Lu seemed to be drained of her soul, her eyes vacant, leaning motionlessly against the operating room door. Those present wanted to comfort Ye Lu but had no idea how to start, the quiet hallway resonating with the soft, mournful sobs of two children, the air filled with an atmosphere of sorrow and despair.
Ye Lu suddenly moved, as if spurred by a thought, and stumbled out.
Everyone was shocked, not knowing what she was doing, only seeing her quickly running toward the turning corner of the hallway, rushing downstairs.
"Mommy..." Ye Yiyi cried, also rushing out.
Ling Kong, seeing the little girl so sad, felt his heart tighten, worried they might get into trouble, and hurriedly followed them.
They kept following Ye Lu, watching her run downstairs and out of the hospital, unsure of her intentions.
When Ye Lu ran into the hospital’s garden, she stopped. She looked up at the dark sky, which had been clear with a cold moon earlier in the night, but now the weather had changed, with a fierce wind starting and the sky covered in thick black clouds, ominously signaling an impending storm.
She felt her life was like this weather, clear and bright a moment ago, believing everything was perfect.
But in the next moment, darkness descended, obscuring all rays of hope.
Is life truly so hopeless? Leaving not a shred of hope.
When she is powerless, what should she do? She didn’t want to lose him, didn’t want to watch helplessly as the person she loved died.
She looked grievously at the heavily clouded sky, wondering if there was a god in this world who could control human destiny? She never believed in fate, but now she was willing to believe, believe there was an almighty god in this world who could see her misery and despair, since humans cannot conquer fate, would it be alright to plead with a god to change her destiny?
Ye Lu dropped to her knees with a thud, facing the dark sky, crying out in desperation: "I don’t know if you exist, but I have no other way, truly none. If you really exist, please, save him, you must save him!"
Ye Lu’s face was full of tears, and she kept banging her head, so hard that blood quickly started flowing from her forehead.
Yet she seemed unaware of the pain, continuously knocking her head, so frantically, so desperately, pleading with the heavens with each sound of her forehead on the ground.
