Chapter 1493: Chapter 1493: Conclusion Part Forty-One

The Godfather looked coldly at the gun still smoking in his hand, and slowly walked to stand before Shadow, who was sprawled on the ground in a bloody mess, his face pallid beyond belief.

"Shadow, you truly are my most satisfactory killing machine, taking out so many of my subordinates in one go." The Godfather turned his head to gaze at the dozen corpses lying on the ground, his voice chilling to the bone.

Not a trace of pain appeared on Shadow’s face, his eyes calm as water: "You taught me how to kill since I was a child, so I repaid you with it."

"I utterly despise that look in your eyes. Why not be a heartless and emotionless dog? What human nature, what light do you yearn for — those things should never belong to you." The Godfather was beside himself with anger; the feeling of failure filled him with a destructive urge, "Since you desire so much to see the light, I’ll make sure you never see anything again!"

With that, the Godfather suddenly stomped down on Shadow’s chest, his pale fingers grasping like talons.

In the next instant, he held a bloody eyeball in his hand, droplets of blood falling through his fingers, cruel and bloodthirsty.

While Shadow’s only remaining eye was gouged out, leaving just a bloody socket, he entirely lost the world of light,

lying on the ground with his face ashen, blood streaming over it, in excruciating pain.

But more than pain, what grieved him was the truth that henceforth, he could never see anything again.

Before, his pair of eyes were useless, only seeing meaningless things, whether they existed or not made no difference.

Now, when he truly longed to see this new world, to see blue skies and white clouds, see petals falling in the breeze, see sunlight cast over the grass, see her gentle and caring smile meant for him, he could no longer see.

He felt genuine regret, there were so many beautiful things he hadn’t yet seen, having wasted too much time staying in darkness before.

In this life, he truly stayed in darkness for good.

It’s probably his karma!

Yet his heart wasn’t engulfed by despair.

"Godfather, even if you gouged out my eyes, it doesn’t matter, for I’ve already seen it, and concealed it within my heart."

The Godfather heard this, his face warped further — even being gouged didn’t spark any regret?

Keeping such waste was pointless, merely a testament to his failed education.

"Then let’s dig out your heart too!" Su Feiman’s face was ruthless, gazing indifferently at Shadow, who he had personally trained since childhood, without a hint of emotion in his eyes.

"..." Shadow did not utter a word, life and death to an assassin were ordinary matters.

Yet at this moment, he felt a shred of melancholy, sad that his loyalty of over twenty years hadn’t caused any stir in the Godfather.

He didn’t need to close his eyes to sense the approach of death, and he had no eyes left to close anyway.

Was he going to die? He wondered if anyone would remember him after his death, if anyone knew Shadow had once existed in this world.

Bang — a bullet whizzed past his upper body, warm blood trickled down onto his heart, the Godfather’s hand reaching for his heart was shot.

Shadow was astonished — someone actually managed to hurt the Godfather.

Such a person could only be Third Young Master Jun!

"Godfather, you’ve grown sluggish, realizing your vast failure has begun to expose gaps everywhere." Third Young Master Jun’s voice was ghostly, as he stepped out of the darkness with a calm gun raised, "Thinking you controlled everything, only to discover in the end it all went awry. Unable to accept failure, you vent your rage on Shadow — you truly are a useless coward!"

Ultimately a step too late, despite his frantic rush to arrive, Third Young Master Jun looked at Shadow’s bloody face, his heart filled with fury.
