Chapter 1466: Chapter 1466: Finale Part 14

All of it began because of her; his resentment, his hatred, all stemmed from her.

It was she who harmed Gu Yan and Jun Huang, causing them to turn against each other as brothers.

The one at fault wasn’t Jun Huang or Gu Yan, it was her.

She, unforgivable.

"Yes, you are the one I should hate most, yet I find myself unable to."

Gu Yan’s eyes shone with the deepest pain.

"It was you who raised me, who nurtured me to adulthood, and until I learned the truth I always believed you were my biological mother. Even if your care for me was with ulterior motives, was false, you are still my mother, and I can’t bring myself to hurt you."

Is there really no emotion in these twenty years?

Impossible, even stones will crumble under time, let alone the heart; to him, the grace of upbringing far outweighs the bond of blood.

He never knew the face of his birth mother, nor knew what kind of person she was; she remains a vague and unfamiliar figure in his heart.

Yet she was his real and palpable mother throughout these twenty years.

She is the only one he can never truly hate.

Never did he consider harming her, so he could only direct all his revenge towards Third Young Master Jun. Perhaps he was jealous too, jealous that Third Young Master Jun was her biological son, while fate was unjust to him, leaving him nothing.

Mrs. Gu looked desolate, finally understanding the resentment and hatred in his heart.

But nothing can be undone, all the wrongs are already committed, leaving only helpless sighs.

"My care and love for you were not fake, even if you don’t believe it; I never treated you as less than my son, to the point where I loved you even more than Jun Huang."

Her son Jun Huang was taken away by Jun Shi, leaving her heartbroken, thus she poured all her feelings into Gu Yan, loving this child more intensely.

As a mother, she feels most indebted to Jun Huang, for she loved her adopted son more than her biological one, hence Jun Huang always hated her.

In the end, she failed as both a good adoptive mother and a biological mother.

"Really? Then why did you break my leg?" Gu Yan simply didn’t believe.

Mrs. Gu stayed silent for a long time, then raised her head, looking at Gu Yan with a bleak expression:

"All this time, I tried my best to conceal everything, thinking it would be better for you and Jun Huang, sparing you both from harm. But instead, you grew to despise one another, retaliating against each other, and ended up with neither happiness, only greater suffering."

"Concealed everything?" Gu Yan’s pupils suddenly constricted, questioning in shock and suspicion, "What do you mean by that? What did you conceal?"

"Do you know how your mother Lin Yue died?" Mrs. Gu suddenly asked.

Gu Yan’s face turned icy as he looked away: "No idea."

"You should have investigated but found nothing, right?" Mrs. Gu observed his icy, hateful face, and laughed bitterly, "Even if you failed to uncover the truth, you have always believed that your mother’s death is related to me."

Gu Yan’s fingers spasmed with suppression, revealing his agitated emotions.

"Is that not the case? You and she were friends back then, yet you both served the same man and became pregnant simultaneously; were you not afraid of losing favor? Sharing the same man, two women can’t possibly be friends; instead, they’d regard each other as mortal foes."

He understood this feeling immensely, just like with Jun Huang; they would never become good brothers, because they both loved the same woman. Where there is love, one only wishes to possess, not share with others.
