Chapter 1440: Chapter 1440: Love You So Much

No matter what, she must fight for a glimmer of hope for him.

"Ah..." She clutched the edge of the bed, her fingers twisted, her nails digging into her palms until they bled.

Suddenly, a hand appeared. It knelt down, filled with anguish, gently prying her bloodied fingers one by one off the bed rail. Then, the person lowered his head urgently, his lips trembling as he kissed the back of her hand. Afterward, he pressed her hand against his face, tenderly stroking it in heartache!

Ye Lu trembled slightly, lifting her tear-filled eyes reddened from pain. Through the haze, she saw the familiar face of Third Young Master Jun, and in her shock, she froze, staring dumbly at him as if she couldn’t believe he was by the bedside.

Was it an illusion?

Had the pain driven her to the brink of fainting, and now she was hallucinating?

Otherwise, how could he possibly appear here? How could he look at her with such an expression of sorrow? She had waited for him all day but never saw him come. Perhaps Heaven had pitied her, granting her this fleeting fantasy where she could finally be with him.

That was fine. This was fine. Let him stay with her for a while longer.

She really missed him so much, especially in a moment like this—the painful abyss she was in. Even if it were just an illusion, it was enough to feel his warmth, his pity, his heartache.

"I love you... Jun Huang, you have no idea how much I love you!"

Her voice was hoarse, weak, but her pale expression was filled with urgency.

She wasn’t sure if she had ever confessed her love to him before. She had always lacked the courage, afraid to utter the word "love" so easily, much less reveal everything in her heart to him. Her words had always been restrained.

But now, she felt that if she didn’t say it now, she might never have the chance again.

She stared at him obsessively, as if engraving his face into her very soul.

"Actually, no matter what you’ve done, I would never blame you. I love you so much. I’ve never wanted to be with someone this desperately—not just for a day, not a month, a year—but an entire lifetime, as long as forever. Would you be willing to be with me?"

Third Young Master Jun’s eyes flickered with intense agony. Her words cut through him like the sharpest blade, piercing his heart.

At that moment, he would have rather heard her say she hated him. That way, he wouldn’t feel so guilty, wouldn’t feel so agonized, or loathe himself so much for the pain he had caused her with his neglect, time and time again.

But even with all he had done to her, she didn’t harbor a shred of resentment.

"I will." Third Young Master Jun’s hands trembled as he gripped hers tighter, his gaze damp, bowing down to kiss her forehead fiercely. "I’ve always stayed by your side."

The person he least wanted to leave was her. He loved her deeply, loved her the most.

"I’m so happy." Ye Lu choked back sobs, tears streaking down her cheeks. "You say you’ll stay by my side—even if this is just a dream, I’m so glad you’re willing to come and stay, to show you care for me."

"It’s not a dream." He frowned, wondering if her illness had clouded her mind.

"It is. This is a dream. He wouldn’t come. I waited for so long, and he still refused to meet me. He doesn’t want me anymore. He wants to divorce me and won’t stay by my side."

Third Young Master Jun froze, his chest wrenching painfully.

She truly thought this was just a dream?

How deeply had he hurt her? So much that even seeing him felt unreal, that only in the illusion of a dream, she could imagine him treating her so well.

Yes, that made sense. Recently, he had been indifferent to the extreme—ignoring her completely, showing no concern or care.

She must have been suffering deeply inside.

He always considered himself someone who loved her the most, would do anything for her—and yet, he was also the person who had hurt her the most.

"Silly girl." Third Young Master Jun trembled as he embraced her head, his face filled with sorrow and regret. "I’m really here by your side. I came to stay with you. You’re not hallucinating."

Ye Lu gazed up at him dumbly, as if trying to discern whether this was real.

"Ah..." Suddenly, a sharper pain surged through her, making her body seize as the agony brought clarity to her muddled thoughts.

Third Young Master Jun tightened his hold on her as he noticed her pallid, pain-stricken face. His heart was full of anguish and urgency.
