Chapter 1437: Chapter 1437: She’s in Trouble

He stared in shock at the silent and indifferent gentleman, tension mounting.

"She waited until the evening?" Third Young Master Jun’s eyes burned like flames, his face ashen, his voice terrifying.

The frightened waiter trembled. "Y-yes, she did. In the end, her face turned very pale, she looked unwell, and then left."

Third Young Master Jun’s breath hitched, his expression shifted dramatically. He shoved the waiter aside, grabbed the coat draped over the chair, threw down some money, and stormed out.

Out on the main road, he took in the neon lights of the midnight city, quietly illuminating the streets.

There was no sign of her anywhere.

She had already left.

He stood motionless in the middle of the road, completely rigid.

Should he go find her? But he shouldn’t see her.

Yet, recalling the waiter’s words about her leaving pale and unwell, his heart clenched, overwhelmed with pain.

Unable to suppress his concern, he finally called Hua Lunxi to ask about Ye Lu’s recent situation.

Hua Lunxi treated him coldly; ever since he announced their divorce on television and broke Ye Lu’s heart, her younger brother was openly hostile toward him.

Hua Lunxi merely mentioned that he hadn’t seen Ye Lu in the past few days; she was resting at Dr. K’s place, preparing for the baby.

Then he sneered, saying that if he wanted to care about her, why not go see her himself.

After that, he hung up the phone coldly.

Third Young Master Jun could only give a bitter smile. He didn’t blame Hua Lunxi’s hostility—this was all his fault.

Ye Lu being at Dr. K’s place should mean she was safe. If anything happened, Dr. K would ensure her safety.

Third Young Master Jun sighed and finally caught a ride back to his own residence.

Lie Feng smelled the stench of alcohol on him, assuming he’d been drowning his sorrows, and felt even worse on his behalf.

Third Young Master Jun sat on the terrace, watching the night fade away as dawn broke and daylight touched the eastern sky.

Sitting should have calmed his heart, but instead, an inexplicable sense of unease began to stir within him. It grew heavier and suffocating, filling him with restless anxiety.

As time passed, this unease didn’t subside—rather, it intensified, becoming unbearable.

Unable to endure it, Third Young Master Jun finally called Dr. K.

Dr. K wasn’t as cold as Hua Lunxi. Hearing him inquire about Ye Lu’s recent condition, Dr. K responded in a neutral manner, saying that her checkups were normal, she was resting to ensure the baby’s health, and there was nothing to worry about.

Only after hearing this did Third Young Master Jun feel his uneasiness fade slightly, and he exhaled in relief.

"Did she... wait for me for a long time today?"

"Yes. I told her to leave, that waiting is pointless for someone who isn’t going to show up. Waiting would only be a waste of time." Dr. K’s tone carried a faintly sarcastic edge.

Third Young Master Jun felt a sharp stab in his chest.

"But she’s so foolish. She said, it didn’t matter if you came or not—she would keep her promise. She would wait for you, always wait for you!"

Third Young Master Jun’s lips turned pale, the sharp pain in his chest morphing into crippling agony.

"She really is foolish. I thought she should hate me." Ever since he came to North America, everything he did had wounded and disappointed her. His attitude toward her was cold and heartless.

He had believed that she must harbor resentment in her heart, hating him for his cruelty, hating him for betraying her.

Yet, no matter how much she might have rejected his wrongdoings, no matter how much anger she felt, her steadfast love for him never wavered. She was such a foolish woman to keep loving him unconditionally.

"Dr. K, please take good care of her. And... don’t tell her I’ve called."

Dr. K snorted. "I know."

"I’m counting on you," Third Young Master Jun said solemnly, then prepared to hang up.

Just then, from Dr. K’s side, he heard a woman’s anxious voice. Though not directed at the receiver, the muffled words faintly reached him—he could make out "danger," "bleeding," and "about to deliver."
