Chapter 1395: Chapter 1395: Being Provoked
There will definitely be a shock, leaving a lasting shadow.
Ye Yuan bit her lower lip but eventually stepped outside.
She then said to Ye Lu, "Calm down. Don’t get overly emotional. What’s happened has happened; right now, the most important thing is to manage his condition."
"I’m not..." Ye Lu clutched her temples and lowered her head, wearing an expression of deep sorrow and helplessness. She didn’t know how to express to Ji Mo the gut-wrenching unease she felt inside.
It wasn’t the addiction or withdrawal of Third Young Master Jun that shook her so deeply, leaving her so restless.
It was the realization that his body was already ravaged, unable to endure for much longer. These episodes, unquestionably, were destroying the last fragments of his life.
She knew he had already reached his limit. His body could no longer withstand any further turmoil.
And yet, such a thing had still happened to him.
She felt like he was a man drifting amidst a boundless sea, clutching onto a piece of rotting driftwood that was about to sink to the bottom. All she could do was stand powerless, watching as his life faded away before her eyes.
Lost in her thoughts, Ji Mo had already acted decisively, retrieving two large towels from the bathroom and swiftly tying up Third Young Master Jun, securing him on the bed.
Third Young Master Jun struggled even more violently, thrashing like a wild animal devoid of consciousness.
"What are you doing?" Ye Lu exclaimed in shock.
"His withdrawal symptoms are too severe this time. We don’t even know what substance he took. If he keeps struggling like this, he’ll hurt himself. It’s safer to restrain him."
Ye Lu glanced at the bed, where Third Young Master Jun was writhing in agony, unconscious but tormented. Her heart felt a thousand stabs of pain. Thinking it over, she hurriedly spoke up again.
"Do you have any reliable doctors for this? I’m afraid things might escalate—like seizures or even cardiac arrest."
"Don’t worry. I already called a doctor who specializes in addiction treatment. They’ll ensure his safety."
Ye Lu walked to the bedside and stared at his contorted face during the withdrawal episode. She could recognize it; she’d seen it on television—how horrifying and grotesque the behaviors of people battling addiction could be.
But watching him suffering like this, fighting desperately, she felt unspeakable heartbreak. Not once did she find it grotesque.
She picked up a damp towel and, trembling, wiped the sweat off his forehead.
Then, she tightly held onto his cold, trembling hand.
"Stay strong. You can get through this; you’ll be fine. We’ll all be fine..." Her tears fell uncontrollably as her voice choked and cracked.
Ji Mo also felt distressed; he hadn’t expected her to face such a harrowing scene without displaying fear or panic. After all, these episodes were undoubtedly intense and overwhelming.
In such moments, only true love could endure this kind of suffering.
"Get out... leave... get out..." A weak, shattered voice seeped through Third Young Master Jun’s clenched, spasming teeth, sounding terrifyingly raw.
Ye Lu felt the hand she was holding suddenly regain strength, violently tossing her away.
She staggered backward, her body stiff with shock.
"You should leave. I’ll stay and watch over him," Ji Mo said.
After all, she was pregnant. Facing such a situation brought nothing but anxiety and sorrow—absolutely harmful for her health.
Moreover, Third Young Master Jun was a proud man. He would never want her to see him in such a disgraceful, vulnerable state.
"I won’t leave." Ye Lu, however, threw herself back and tightly grasped Third Young Master Jun’s hand, her tear-filled eyes blurred. "You can curse at me. If you feel awful, curse me all you want. But I won’t leave. I need to stay with you."
She couldn’t bring herself to think about anything else anymore. She just wanted to be by his side for every fleeting moment.
No matter how much time remained, she just wanted to stay with him.
