Chapter 1384: Chapter 1384: Can You Dance with Me?
Huffman finished watching the drama and finally spoke: "Alright, now that we’ve heard the reports from both candidate heirs, let’s begin the banquet and ball. Please enjoy the feast provided by Hua Group tonight!"
The atmosphere instantly relaxed, glasses clinked, and guests either drank, chatted, or danced. The tense confrontation from earlier seemed to vanish into thin air.
Ye Lu, holding a wine glass, personally walked over to Vincent and looked at him gratefully. "Thank you, Mr. Vincent. I’ll toast you with tea instead of wine."
"Mommy, the one you should be thanking is me," Ye Yuan immediately raised his handsome little face and said proudly.
Ye Lu poked his cheek. "Hmph, plotting in secret and not telling Mommy? You deserve a spanking."
Ye Yuan glared at her, feeling unappreciated for his good intentions.
Vincent chuckled and said, "You really ought to thank your son. To be honest, I wasn’t entirely motivated by sentiment in helping you. I’ve reviewed the proposal you created for reforming the company. Though it’s not flawless, it certainly has potential. I don’t ruin my reputation by investing in worthless companies. So, it was your capability I recognized, which prompted me to take action."
Ye Lu was both shocked and thrilled. She hadn’t expected her proposal to gain acknowledgment from such a prominent figure—the joy in her heart was indescribable.
After chatting with Vincent for a while, he left the banquet, saying he’d much rather go outside to absorb the essence of the moon than stay at such a dull event.
As soon as Vincent walked away, many investors eagerly approached to strike up conversations.
Unable to speak directly with Vincent, they were desperate to glean anything Ye Lu might have said to him earlier, hoping to dig out some important market information. After all, Vincent’s unmatched insights and foresight always commanded admiration.
Ye Lu soon found herself surrounded, though she was delighted by the interest of the investors. Being encircled like this made her incredibly uncomfortable—she could hardly breathe—but she couldn’t just shoo them away.
Just as she felt anxious, a tall man in a sleek black tuxedo strode in with composure, interrupting the overly enthusiastic investors. He bent slightly, extending a hand clad in a white glove.
"Beautiful lady, may I have the honor of a dance?" His face, extraordinarily handsome, possessed an alluring charm; his deep, seductive voice carried an intoxicating allure like a breeze in the snow. And those blazing eyes of his seemed to ignite a fire in the heart.
Ye Lu froze, completely dumbfounded, staring blankly at him.
The reason was simple: the man standing before her couldn’t be more familiar. He was the very person she’d been trying hard not to think about, the one she didn’t know how to face recently—Third Young Master Jun, her husband.
"What are you doing here?" Her voice suddenly turned chilly as she stared at him warily.
Yet faced with her barely veiled hostility, he simply smirked indifferently, grabbed her hand forcibly, and pulled her into his arms. Ye Lu was startled, glaring at him in frustration with wide eyes, while he lowered his head, a victorious smile playing at his lips, casually leading her into the dance floor.
The orchestra played a soft and slow tune—not an intense dance. To Ye Lu, it was far from stimulating.
Third Young Master Jun moved with her in slow circles, as if they were a pair of entangled lovers, gracefully swaying to the music.
But Ye Lu’s expression was anything but pleasant. Her arm struggled a few times, yet his hand gripped hers firmly and his arm tightened around her waist, refusing to let her escape. Ye Lu, flustered and irritated, stomped on his foot hard several times.
"Ouch!" Third Young Master Jun hissed, the corner of his eyes twitching. This woman truly had no mercy.
