Chapter 354: She had only known later

Her body shook as she cried quietly against his chest. Years of resentment, fear, grief, and helplessness poured out at once. She had fought alone for so long. She had endured silently for so long.

Freedom felt unreal.

The police cars slowly drove away, leaving behind nothing but echoes and memories. The Hua Mansion stood there, cold and lifeless, no longer the cage it once was.

Hua Jing closed her eyes.

For the first time in her life, she felt light.

For the first time... she felt truly free.

...

The news of Chen Li being taken away on charges of murder exploded across every platform within minutes. Screens everywhere were flooded with headlines, breaking news alerts, and blurry photos of police cars parked outside the Hua residence. Mother and daughter—once the golden duo of high society—had become the center of the storm overnight.

Tabloids went completely wild.

People could hardly believe it. Chen Li had always flaunted Hua Ling like her greatest trophy. She bragged about her daughter at charity galas, in elite social circles, and even on livestreams. The two often appeared together in carefully edited videos, smiling warmly, presenting themselves as the perfect mother-daughter pair. Elegant. Loving. Untouchable.

But now, those carefully crafted masks had shattered.

The internet finally saw what lay beneath.

And the revelation that Hua Jing was actually Hua Ling’s stepsister poured gasoline onto the fire. Suddenly, everything made sense. The rivalry. The schemes. The hatred. People began connecting dots that had been scattered for years.

Comment sections exploded.

"She’s not her real sister? No wonder the tension was always so thick between them."

"Stepmother and stepsister... classic villain combo."

"They looked like angels but turned out to be wolves in sheep’s clothing."

"I can’t even imagine the kind of torture Hua Jing went through in that house." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Surviving that environment and still standing tall? That woman is strong beyond words."

"This is a real-life Cinderella story, but with blood and betrayal."

"So Chen Li killed Hua Jing’s real mother? I’m shaking."

"Imagine growing up knowing the woman who took your mom’s place murdered her..."

"No wonder Hua Jing always looked so guarded."

"People owe her the biggest apology ever."

"I used to think she was cold, but now I get it. She was surviving."

"House of horrors is an understatement."

"She didn’t just escape. She endured."

"Respect to Hua Jing for not turning into a monster like them."

"I would’ve snapped long ago if I were her."

"This industry really protected the wrong people."

"Blue Entertainment knew. They HAD to know."

Then someone brought up the accident.

The comments grew darker.

"Wait... wasn’t Hua Jing on her way to receive a lifetime achievement award when she crashed?"

"She gets into a career-ending accident right before the ceremony?"

"Ends up in a coma for over a year?"

"And who benefits the most? Hua Ling and Blue Entertainment."

"That timing is too perfect."

"I’m sorry but this smells like a setup."

"We need answers about that accident."

"Did anyone ever investigate it properly?"

"This is bigger than we thought."

"Blue Entertainment better explain themselves."

"First the hotel scandal, now this? This company is rotten."

"Who knows how many people they crushed."

"Hua Jing was almost erased from the industry."

"Someone wanted her gone."

"I won’t believe it was an accident until proven otherwise."

"Justice for Hua Jing."

"Bring everything to light."

"Expose them all."

Blue Entertainment was dragged straight into the firestorm. Their official accounts were bombarded with angry comments, demands, and threats of boycotts. The company’s stock plummeted. Executives were forced into emergency meetings. Sponsors started pulling out. It was chaos.

And in the middle of it all stood Hua Mingrong.

He was the one hit the hardest.

In just a short span of time, his daughter’s reputation had been destroyed, and now his wife was in police custody. The man who once walked proudly in business circles now looked like he had aged ten years overnight. His hair seemed grayer. His back slightly bent. His once calm eyes were full of panic and confusion.

He didn’t even bother changing clothes before rushing to the police station.

When he arrived, he saw two familiar figures stepping out of a car.

Hua Jing.

And Fu Jingrong.

The sight alone made his heart skip a beat.

Fear crept up his spine. A while ago, Fu Jingrong had personally come knocking at his door, searching for Hua Jing. Back then, Hua Jing had still been in a coma, and Hua Ling had secretly taken her away from the hospital. Hua Mingrong had never understood the relationship between these two, but something about Fu Jingrong’s presence back then had unsettled him deeply.

Now, seeing them together again, his chest tightened.

His gaze shifted to Hua Jing, and his expression hardened instantly. He strode toward her, fury written all over his face.

"You ungrateful child!" he roared. "What did you do to your mother and sister?!"

His hand lifted instinctively, ready to strike her.

But before it could land, a powerful grip stopped him.

Fu Jingrong had caught his wrist mid-air.

The strength in his hold was terrifying. Hua Mingrong’s bones felt like they might crack. He looked up and met Fu Jingrong’s cold, murderous gaze. There was no warmth in it. Only warning.

Hua Jing stepped forward, her eyes just as icy.

"Mother?" she said calmly.

"Sister?"

A bitter smile curved her lips.

"I was an only child," she continued. "My mother is already dead. So tell me... where did I get a mother and a sister from?"

Hua Mingrong’s face twisted with rage. "You—!"

But Hua Jing didn’t bother listening anymore. She turned, grabbed Fu Jingrong’s hand, and headed straight into the police station.

This case concerned her mother.

She was the one who reported Chen Li.

She was the one who submitted the evidence.

Of course, she had to be there.

Hua Mingrong stood frozen for a moment before hurriedly following them inside.

The moment he stepped through the doors, he heard hysterical sobbing.

Chen Li’s voice.

She had noticed him.

"Husband! Husband!" she cried desperately. "You have to get me out of here! I didn’t do anything! They framed me!"
