Chapter 2816: Chapter 939: Monster and Savior (2)

"Let him wait!"

Triss waved her hand dominantly, then gave Murphy a sultry expression that made his kidneys ache, but Murphy had his own ideas. He reached out, and the small square pendant that had been removed earlier was grabbed by the Psychic Hand and solemnly placed around Triss’s neck.

Just like putting a bell on a personal golden cat.

Sure enough, as soon as the Desire Valve was put on, Triss immediately regained clarity from her desire drive, glared at Murphy, and then got up to find clothes but embarrassingly discovered that all her clothes had been destroyed in the recent outburst.

Fortunately, Murphy was prepared, took a long dress from the psychic package, and handed it to his Old Cutie, completing the change amidst her complaints about the outdated style.

Once the refreshed duo left the room, they followed the nearby Vampire Attendant to visit the Elder, who patiently awaited the arrival of the Duke and Lord in his room.

He seemed to have guessed what these esteemed guests were going to inquire about and had prepared beforehand.

When Triss and Murphy entered the room full of various scrolls, what greeted them was a very abstract Crimson Shrine placed beside the Vampire Elder’s desk.

The thing was hardly a Thing of Faith, as its shape roughly resembled a vampire with wings spread, devoid of a face or any meticulous decorations, which clearly indicated two things.

First, this Vampire Elder’s craftsmanship is rather lacking.

Daring to carve a shrine like this, aren’t you afraid of descending punishment for "Blasphemy" from the one you worship?

Second, this Vampire Elder probably never witnessed the true form of the entity he worships, otherwise, there wouldn’t be a blank face.

In the realm of faith, a shrine deity lacking facial features is a terrible mistake.

"I must confess to you, Your Grace."

The Vampire Elder bowed humbly and said to Triss:

"I know this seriously violates our millennial tradition as vampires, even unforgivable rebellion. I thought about hiding the secret of myself and this city from you, but after much thought, I decided to tell you everything that has happened in the past nine months.

As well as the secret destined to be significant to all vampires.

That is, we finally received the attention of a Divine Spirit, and our Midnight Mother is not a mere illusion, but a real and great existence. The city’s survival through nine months of calamity owes entirely to Her protection."

"Neither I nor Earl Morphy will blame you for this, Elder Hillier."

Triss said in a deep voice:

"We also have enough time to hear this bizarre story, but before you begin, I must correct two of your mistakes: First, it is not the Midnight Mother that vampires talk about, or at least not as you imagine that existence.

Second, it is not a god.

At this stage, you can only regard it as a monstrous deity.

While you share your story with us, I’ll also share one about its birth and current situation."

"May your will be strong enough, Elder Hillier."

Murphy said:

"May the truth not scare you."

From their stern warnings, the Vampire Elder sensed the severity of the issue.

But even with mental preparation, upon hearing the "god" he worshipped for months was a monstrous creation by Salockdale, sacrificing his entire lineage, Elder Hillier was almost struck with a heart attack.

He is very old, but not every old vampire is as knowledgeable as Triss. Hillier, despite not being a fringe figure like Murphy in the past Blood Vulture Clan, wasn’t held in much esteem either.

His knowledge was insufficient to quickly accept this brutal truth; he needed time to convince himself. Throughout the process, the Elder also recounted Cardman City’s experiences over the past nine months to Murphy and Triss.

Overall, it wasn’t as thrilling and perilous as they imagined. Compared to the upheavals in Transylvania during these nine months, Cardman City’s tale seemed dull, but the danger within was equally perilous as what transpired in the real world.

"The hardest phase was our first two months being thrown into the Star Realm. The city outskirts were shattered, and each day, unlucky souls fell into the Star Realm with the crumbling city boundaries. Back then, many thought the city wouldn’t last another month, and soon a serious chaos erupted amid an unexpected conflict."

Elder Hillier sighed:

"The vampires were somewhat lucky; we were few, controlling the life-saving Nocturne Enchantment, isolating inner city chaos. However, the information brought back by the Blood Servants sent to observe conditions made us Midnight loved ones feel deeply disturbed.

The humans outside went mad!

Under oppression of despair, they began slaughtering one another. When the city fell into the Star Realm, there were 130,000 people here, and all the lives lost were casualties of that three-day chaos."
