Chapter 1344: Chapter 1344: Defeat and Death
Black Shark was seething with rage, killing intent boiling over as he glared at the five people in front of him.
Whether it was Ye Fan’s group of four or General Hawan, they had all become targets of Black Shark’s furious stare.
"General Hawan, you’d better give me an explanation. Who the hell are these people?" Black Shark roared, unable to restrain his anger. "Even if they’re your friends, even if I did mistake these three women, just assuming they were the women you called over, fine, I’ll apologize, no big deal. But that doesn’t mean they can just beat me up."
"If you don’t give me an explanation, I’ll never let them go. This doesn’t end unless one of us is dead." Black Shark was truly burning with fury and killing intent.
If it weren’t for Hawan’s sake, he would have already struck. The only reason he’d held back was to save Hawan’s face.
"..." The four bodyguards in the distance had a bitter look on their faces, wanting to speak but swallowing it back. Then, helpless, they all turned around together, saying nothing, refusing to watch this heart-wrenching scene. They just couldn’t understand it. At a time like this, how could Black Shark still be acting this stupid?
"Sigh!" General Hawan let out a sigh, then glanced at Ye Fan and the others. Seeing that all of them looked utterly indifferent, he could only say, "Captain Black Shark, they really are from the Peng Bird organization. They’re here to kill you."
He understood that Ye Fan and the others wanted to toy with Black Shark, and speaking up now meant risking their displeasure. But since he had tricked Black Shark into coming here to die to save his own life, he couldn’t just stand by and watch.
Seeing Black Shark so furious yet forcing himself to endure, he couldn’t bear it anymore and exposed Ye Fan and the others’ identities.
Since Black Shark was doomed anyway, he might as well tear everything open and let Black Shark die a little more straightforwardly.
Watching Black Shark being played like this, General Hawan felt a twinge of guilt.
Whether it was for the sake of the Poison Dragon Mercenary Corps or his personal relationship with Black Shark, he couldn’t stay cold and detached.
The reason Black Shark was enduring to this extent was because he trusted him. Hawan naturally had to give something back.
"They’re with Peng Bird?" When Black Shark heard this, he staggered back two steps, his face full of shock and disbelief. Then he let out a disbelieving laugh. "General Hawan, what kind of joke is that? How could Peng Bird’s people possibly be here? How could they be from Peng Bird? This isn’t funny at all. I don’t feel even a bit of surprise, only terror."
After thinking for a moment, he felt it was simply too absurd, so he naturally refused to believe it.
"Captain Black Shark, things have come to this. Do I still have any reason to lie to you?" General Hawan said with shame, "They captured me. They wanted to use my life to trade for yours, so I called you out here. We may have a connection, but we only just met. Whatever ties I had with Hawk were completely spent the moment I saved you. I was dragged into this mess by you people. To save myself, I can only abandon you. Even if Hawk finds out, he can’t blame me."
"Despicable. Shameless!" Black Shark glared furiously at Hawan. Seeing how grave Hawan looked, if he still doubted the identities of these four, then he really would be an utter idiot.
He had never imagined Peng Bird’s group would play it like this—actually daring to make a move on General Hawan, then using him as bait to lure Black Shark out. That was truly brazen to the extreme.
"Saving you was already the utmost kindness I could show. I didn’t even blame Hawk for dragging me into this flood; that’s already me being generous. And you still dare to slander me?" General Hawan said angrily. "You brought this danger onto me. Using your death to wash away my bad luck—you should be satisfied. Stop spouting nonsense and blaming me. At the very least, I’ll see to your corpse."
"Didn’t expect this... never thought it’d be like this." Black Shark stopped blaming Hawan. He looked at Ye Fan and the others, his face full of desolation. "In the end, I actually walked right into the trap myself. Impressive trick."
As he spoke, Black Shark was already gathering his strength, fully prepared to strike.
"I want to see for myself just how capable you really are." Black Shark stared at the four enemies, provoking them. "Come on, make your move. Your close-combat skills are strong, but I’m not weak either. In the jungle, among those seven people, four of them were you, right?"
Zhang Lu, Yang Shu, and Shen Tingting looked at Ye Fan, seeking his opinion.
"Slaughter him. We don’t have time to waste. Finish this fast." Ye Fan ordered.
The three women nodded, then charged at Black Shark. They had no intention of clearing up any of his doubts. They had only one objective: kill the target. Everything else was irrelevant.
As soon as the fight began, Black Shark was completely suppressed.
Watching this, General Hawan sighed helplessly. "Each of these three women is at least on par with Black Shark. If it were one-on-one, he could still hold out for a while. But looking at him now, he won’t be able to struggle for long before he’s defeated and killed."
"General Hawan, let me drink to you." Ye Fan raised his glass and said lazily.
"Pl-please, please, let me drink... drink to you." General Hawan stammered a little, not even sure what kind of expression he should be wearing. In his heart he grumbled: your people are fighting for their lives, and you’ve still got the mood to drink? Your heart is really big, isn’t it?
Complaints like that could only stay in his heart; he didn’t dare say them out loud.
The situation was crystal clear. Black Shark was like a trapped beast making its final struggle; he wouldn’t last long.
Ye Fan’s confidence—this blatant disregard for Black Shark—made Hawan feel extremely vexed and unwilling.
On the surface, he could only flatter him, holding his glass and smiling along.
Before Hawan even swallowed his sip of wine, his hand trembled, the glass shaking, nearly slipping from his grip. Because, within his line of sight, Black Shark had been sent flying.
Black Shark had no power to fight back. In the hands of Zhang Lu, Yang Shu, and Shen Tingting, he was getting pummeled nonstop, peril at every turn.
Hawan couldn’t help but watch. He wanted Black Shark dead, yet seeing Black Shark struggle again and again, only to inch closer to death, was still a torment to witness.
"Mr. Peng Bird, with your reputation, there’s no need to torture a mere captain of the Poison Dragon Mercenary Corps. Just give him a quick death." General Hawan said to Ye Fan.
After observing for a while, he had concluded that Ye Fan must be Peng Bird himself, and the others were Peng Bird’s associates.
"If Black Shark wants to resist, then let him die slowly. If he doesn’t resist and just waits for the execution, then of course he’ll die quickly and feel less pain." Ye Fan said carelessly. "Honestly, this is a rare good show. General Hawan, you might as well enjoy it."
"Mr. Peng Bird, your hobbies are really... unique." General Hawan’s mouth twitched.
In that agonizing wait, Black Shark finally collapsed to the ground and died.
"I’m not willing... I refuse to die like this..." Black Shark’s final roar still echoed faintly in the air.
