Chapter 395: 395. The massage
"I see. So you successfully stole one of your husband’s dolls for me, huh?"
Loona nodded. "Yes..... He brought with him a box full of them. I stole one when he was in the bathroom, and made sure to close and tap the box as it was. Let me get it."
She reached beneath her bed and pulled it out.
"It’s impressive that you managed to steal one after watching your husband appear out of nowhere with an entire box of those dolls."
Loona lowered her gaze.
She had never been as terrified as she was the previous night. By all rights, she should have screamed, frozen in place, or completely lost her mind when Josh appeared out of thin air. Yet one thought kept her anchored through it all—she couldn’t afford to fail Asher.
She didn’t want to disappoint him.
An overwhelming urge compelled her to carry out his orders without hesitation. Even though the unknown filled her with fear, the thought of disappointing him frightened her even more.
A faint smile curved her lips as she placed the purple, grinning Labubu doll into his hands.
Asher took the fluffy creature into his hands, inspecting its bizarre, mischievous expression with a deep frown.
"This is it? The doll manufactured by my brother’s company?" he muttered, turning it over.
Loona nodded eagerly. "Yep! That’s ’Sad Mat’s’ bestselling product. Sales have been skyrocketing every single week. The trick is that they ship them out as blind boxes—customers have no idea what color they’re getting until they open it. It drives them crazy with curiosity, so they just keep buying until they have the whole collection."
"I see. Smart strategy," Asher murmured, studying the plush toy. It really did look like a smiling little devil.
But as his fingers pressed into its plush stomach, he felt something dense and unyielding hidden beneath the stuffing. His brow furrowed deeper. He pressed again, confirming the shape.
"What’s wrong?" Loona asked, catching the sudden shift in his expression.
Asher didn’t answer. He parted the thick, fluffy faux fur on the doll’s back, searching until his fingertips brushed against a tiny, concealed zipper. It was expertly hidden, designed to look like a quirky little secret pocket for Labubu collectors.
He pulled the zipper down. Buried deep within the polyester stuffing was a small, clear packet of white powder.
"What is this?" he whispered, pulling the baggie out and tossing it onto the bed. He unsealed the edge, and the truth hit him like a physical blow. "Drugs?!"
Loona leaned in, her eyes widening. "Those are... drugs?" She had never seen them in real life before.
Asher stood frozen, his mind reeling. "These Labubus ship with drugs? What the hell?" He couldn’t make sense of it. "Do the customers know? Is that why they pay such exorbitant prices for them?"
No, that couldn’t be right. The realization corrected him just as quickly as the thought arose. Labubu fans were mainstream collectors—mostly ordinary people, not addicts. If the company were blindly sending narcotics to unsuspecting households, they would have been exposed and ruined long ago. This was a highly targeted, disguised distribution network.
His mind raced. ’Akira... what on earth are you doing?’
Asher’s background as a doctor before he passed away made him grow a resentment toward his brother. He knew the devastation of narcotics all too well. The initial high was a trap; the addiction was a death sentence. In the ER, he had treated countless addicts who had mutilated themselves, or wandered blindly into traffic because their brains were entirely hijacked by chemicals. Drugs were humanity’s greatest, most insidious enemy.
And now, his own brother was the one supplying this poison to the world.
Asher clenched his fists, a heavy tremble rolling through his shoulders. He had always idolized Akira. After their parents died in that mysterious, horrific car fire, Akira had stepped up. He had worked tirelessly to fund Asher’s medical school tuition, acting as the protective, reliable older brother.
’When I graduated, when I got married... he helped us out so much financially. Was all of that... drug money?’ The thought made his blood run cold.
Initially, he had expected to find something far more experimental in the dolls—perhaps the P-series serums Mr. Zero used for muscle enhancement, or the mysterious formula Josh was tracking. Not this. Not street drugs.
Loona watched him, her initial shock morphing into deep worry as Asher’s face drained of all color. The tables had completely turned; he looked just as pale and shaken as she had been only minutes prior.
"Are you okay, Master?" she murmured, gently cupping his cheeks. The title master slipped out her mouth instinctively, but in his moment of vulnerability, it felt entirely right.
"Yeah... I’m fine," he lied, his voice strained.
Loona remembered his earlier promise. He had teased that if she successfully stole the doll and followed his instructions, he would reward her with one of his signature massages—the kind that ended in "happy accidents." She had been looking forward to it the whole past days, even buying scented massage oils in anticipation. But looking at him now, it was clear Asher was the one who needed to escape his own head.
"Come on. Follow me to the dining room," she said softly, guiding him to his feet.
Asher followed her like a ghost, completely trapped in a tailspin of unanswered questions.
When they reached the living space, she pointed toward the table. "Take off your clothes, wrap a towel around yourself, and lie down right there while I get everything ready."
"Take off my clothes? For what exactly?" He asked, taken aback. Was she horny? Did she want them to have sex right then and there?
"I want to give you a massage. Your shoulders are tense." She exhaled slowly. "You deserve it."
Asher tried to protest, stammering that he was supposed to be the one taking care of her, but Loona gave him a firm look that brooked no argument.
Defeated and exhausted, he did exactly as he was told.
