Chapter 45: Chapter 45: White-haired Goblin

"Die! You green-skinned bastards!"

Gray stepped forward and thrust!

His Longsword flashed like a sliver of silver light, piercing straight through the heart of the goblin in front. A one-hit kill!

"ROAR!"

Gak also launched an attack. He raised his Broad Axe and brought it down in a heavy vertical chop!

"SQUELCH!"

The goblin before Gak stood no chance against such a blow; it was cleaved in two from head to toe.

Foul blood sprayed out, spilling guts and intestines all over the ground.

"WAAAAAAAH!"

The last remaining goblin was scared witless. It turned and fled into the cave, shrieking an alarm.

Soon, a commotion erupted from within the cave. The ground trembled faintly as a horde of enemies surged forward!

"GAA WAKAKA! GAA WAKAKA!"

(Enemies have appeared! Enemies have appeared!)

The first wave of goblins charged out of the cave—at least a dozen of them.

They brandished rusted weapons, stolen or looted from the human world, and let out threatening howls at Marcus and his companions. A cacophony of monstrous shrieks filled the air.

"GAA GAA!"

"JIGURUWAA!"

"WAKAKA!"

(Foolish humans! You dare come to our doorstep!) 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

(Kill them!)

(More fresh human meat for the tasting!)

"THUD... THUD..."

Besides these short goblins, even heavier footsteps echoed from inside the cave.

Two exceptionally tall goblins emerged as well!

[Tier Twenty-Eight]: Beastman Goblin

Individual Threat Rating: [Difficulty]

Appearance:

Compared to regular goblins, Beastman Goblins are much larger, usually around two meters tall, with a more savage appearance.

Habits:

No different from ordinary goblins, but Beastman Goblins are usually the overlords of their communities, holding a superior status.

Special Abilities:

They possess sturdy muscles, and both their speed and Power far exceed those of ordinary goblins.

Core Weaknesses:

No particular weaknesses are known. Beastman Goblins are simply creatures of flesh and blood and can be killed through conventional means.

Association Notes:

A challenging foe. Remember to wear your best Armor when fighting one. Brute force is the Beastman Goblin’s greatest threat.

Both Beastman Goblins towered over Marcus, but they still weren’t as tall as Gak.

One of the Beastman Goblins was haphazardly decked out in iron pauldrons and a Chest Armor, and it carried a Wolf Fang Club studded with iron nails—clearly loot stripped from dead Adventurers.

The other Beastman Goblin’s weapon was a Two-Handed Giant Axe, which looked very intimidating.

In a one-on-one fight, Marcus and Gak might not have been too afraid.

But now they were surrounded by more than a dozen ordinary goblins. With these green-skinned bastards harassing them from the side, the situation was completely different.

A sudden slash or a thrown rock to the head would be a major distraction.

"UWAAA!!"

One of the Beastman Goblins roared at the sky.

(Kill all these humans!!)

A great green tide immediately closed in, completely surrounding Marcus and his two companions.

Marcus adjusted his breathing, placed his One-Handed Shield before him, and took his usual position at the front of the three-man squad.

"Remember our tactics!"

"Got it!"

The goblin with the Giant Axe charged forward and brought it down in a crushing blow!

Marcus raised his Shield to block.

"CLANG!"

The axe blade bit several centimeters into the surface of the One-Handed Shield, the impact making Marcus’s left arm go numb.

The Beastman Goblin tried to pull back its Giant Axe, but the blade was stuck in the Shield and it couldn’t be pulled out right away.

So it kicked the Shield, using the force to yank the Giant Axe free.

Marcus was sent stumbling back several steps before he steadied himself.

Meanwhile, Gak was also clashing head-on with a Beastman Goblin.

He swung the heavy Broad Axe with ferocious power. A Vortex Slash carved a deep gash into the Beastman Goblin’s Chest Armor, almost taking its head clean off.

But Gak didn’t have a chance to press his advantage, because several smaller goblins were already lurking nearby, preparing a sneak attack.

To be safe, Gak could only fall back.

Gray, on the other hand, was responsible for clearing out the ordinary goblins on the flanks to secure the team’s rear.

In the shadows of the bushes, Valles and Zelir both held their breath, watching the battle nervously.

Although Marcus’s team of three coordinated seamlessly, the situation was inevitably tipping in the goblins’ favor. After all, they were outnumbered and had to constantly be on guard for sneak attacks.

Marcus and his men were constrained in their fighting, unable to go all out. They faced one close call after another, nearly getting hit several times.

However, the three of them still followed the plan, retreating step by step to lure the goblins toward the bushes where Valles and Zelir were hiding.

"Steady, steady..."

Valles placed a hand on Zelir’s shoulder. "The target hasn’t appeared yet. Don’t spook them."

Zelir nodded silently, his mind racing.

’Where’s the White-haired Goblin? It’s about time... Shouldn’t it have shown up by now?’

As if in response to Zelir’s anticipation, several more figures appeared in the shadows at the cave’s entrance!

The information from the commission stated that this Goblin Community had three Beastman Goblins. Now, the third one had finally appeared!

Its equipment was the best; its Armor and weapon were new, not rusted like the other goblins’, and it was also the most powerfully built!

Beside this last Beastman Goblin was another goblin.

It was as small and scrawny as a regular goblin, with a hunched back, but its eyes were filled with cunning and shrewdness. On top of its head was a distinctive tuft of long white hair.

The White-haired Goblin!

Adventurer’s Association Universal Monster Atlas

[Tier Thirty-Seven]: White-haired Goblin

Individual Threat Rating: [Difficulty]

Appearance:

A rare mutant among goblins. Its most prominent feature is the tuft of white hair growing on its head.

Habits:

No different from ordinary goblins, but their status within the tribe is even higher than that of Beastman Goblins. They are usually the leaders.

Special Abilities:

White-haired Goblins have the ability to cast Magic. Moreover, the Magic mastered by each White-haired Goblin differs, which is what makes them so tricky.

However, based on current data, no White-haired Goblin has ever cast Magic above a Level Three Single-Layer Spell Structure.

Core Weaknesses:

Even though a White-haired Goblin can use Magic, its Constitution is no different from an ordinary goblin’s and it can be easily slain.

Association Notes:

When dealing with a tribe that has a White-haired Goblin, a swift kill is paramount!

The team must concentrate its strength to eliminate the White-haired Goblin as quickly as possible. Otherwise, the squad will be constantly harassed by Magic, and the goblins’ morale will remain high.
