Chapter 61: *A true genius*

Kevin still had another question for him, so he asked curiously, "Teacher Julian, during my test to be recruited by the Sun Sect, I injured my hand, and Alan treated me. A green light appeared, and my wound disappeared immediately. How did he do that?"

Julian smiled and replied, "Ah, Alan! Well, besides the particles of the five elements found in spiritual energy, there are other particles as well. Alan used the particles of light, which are of this color and are used to regenerate the cells of the human body."

Kevin looked at him, dumbfounded. "There are other particles within the spiritual energy? What are they?"

Julian laughed again; Kevin was genuinely very curious, and his thirst for knowledge was evident. He eagerly answered Kevin’s question, "There are only two other known types: the particles of light and the particles of darkness. However, very few mages are capable of using them, as it consumes a lot of Soul Force."

Kevin smiled, delighted at this discovery. He had received all the answers he wanted, so he asked, "Teacher Julian, I’ve used up most of my Soul Force reserve. Can I meditate to recover some of it?"

Julian nodded and said, "No worries, Kevin. The spells classes are there to guide you and provide examples, but ultimately, only you can create them and find the spells that suit you the best. The blade you created was really impressive."

Kevin scratched the back of his head, feeling a little embarrassed by his teacher’s compliment, and thanked him again before sitting cross-legged and pulling his hood over his head to meditate.

Julian returned to his tasks, and before starting his meditation, Kevin checked the time on the main menu of the System. It was almost 10 AM, so he could meditate for an hour and then try to create another spell afterward. Perfect.

Kevin entered a state of deep concentration because he wanted to absorb as many particles as possible. He had realized that the more focused he was, the more elemental particles he could gather.

When the familiar messages appeared to notify him that he had just finished his hour of meditation, he immediately closed them and exited his meditative state. His Soul Force points were at their peak again, and he decided to try to create a defense spell. Now that he had perfect control over his blade, he wanted to experiment with something new.

Rather than creating a large shield that could potentially protect him from powerful strikes, he opted to create smaller shields, slightly larger than his hands. This approach would allow him to maneuver and position them over any part of his body that might be targeted, aligning better with his aggressive fighting style, as he wasn’t the type to wait for an attack.

So, he began to create two discs with the spiritual energy, one in front of each of his hands. Once he stabilized their shape and they turned a milky color, he used his mind to maneuver them around his body. Oddly enough, he found it very easy to move them as he wished.

Julian had just seen what Kevin had done. Almost all the students were now resting to recover some of their Soul Force, so he was free to observe him. Julian barely had time to hide his astonishment when Kevin approached him, wondering what this genius might ask him this time—because without a doubt, Kevin was a true genius.

Kevin didn’t waste any time and asked immediately, "Teacher Julian, is it normal for me to find it really easy to move both of my shields at the same time?"

Julian was rendered speechless; he hadn’t expected this kind of question. Kevin didn’t seem to want to draw attention to himself; he looked genuinely disturbed by this discovery.

He regained his senses quickly and told him, "Kevin, to create two shields at the same time, even though they’re small, your concentration has to be very high. Concentration is key to controlling spells, and the more stable the spiritual energy you use is, the easier it will be for you to maneuver them."

Kevin nodded and reiterated, "So to have better control over my spells, I need high concentration and first to stabilize the spiritual energy, correct?"

Julian nodded. "That’s right; your shields were perfectly stabilized, and you seem to have good concentration. That’s why it feels easy to you."

Kevin asked again curiously, "Can we change the shape of a spell once it is created?"

Julian shook his head. "No, you can’t. You have to disperse or cast your spell before you can create another one. However, nothing prevents you from creating many small spells. For example, instead of creating a single blade, you can create as many as you want at the same time, as long as you can control them all."

Kevin’s eyes widened; he hadn’t thought of that possibility. His attacking power could improve considerably thanks to that! "Thank you very much, Teacher Julian, for all your advice."

Julian waved his hand, saying, "No matter what, I’m here for that. Don’t hesitate if you have any more questions."

Kevin nodded and thanked him again. Once the teacher left, Kevin immediately tried to practice what he had just learned. He concentrated and created the first blade of spiritual energy, then created another one, and yet another. He felt that this was the maximum he could control at the same time.

These blades were nothing like the balls of spiritual energy he had used yesterday to craft his potions; it required significantly more concentration to control them. Once he was sure he had them completely under control, he threw them with his mind against the dummy.

All three blades landed simultaneously on the dummy’s head, and as a result of the impact from the three spiritual energy blades, he beheaded it. More accurately, the dummy’s head exploded from the force of the attack, scattering debris everywhere in the classroom and startling all the students who were resting to regenerate their Soul Force reserves.

Kevin scratched the back of his head; he hadn’t anticipated that the dummy’s head would explode from the impact of his spells, after all, they were only basic spells.
