Chapter 602: *That was not enough for him*
Helena passed through the vortex as well, and Chris then said to Julian when he saw him tense up, "Don’t worry, you are strong enough to face the creatures that are inside purple dungeons. Plus, we have Iris and Helena with us, so nothing wrong can happen... As for Yelena... if it gets out of hand, Iris will call Miguel to deal with it... Julian, just relax and try to enjoy yourself."
Julian then said to him, feeling a little frustrated, "I already told you, I don’t really like to fight. What I like is finding new ways to use spiritual energy and create new spells. But Yelena was right; it’s a good way to test them out..."
Julian sighed then and said, "So you find me boring too, right? I’m your teacher, but I don’t even have any experience in purple dungeons... I never went to fight at the border either..."
But Chris cut him off and told him, "You fought during the only battle that mattered for us, for our world... I was there, and I saw you using your ice spikes to kill the men with the black symbols on their foreheads; you were amazing."
Chris then said before crossing the purple vortex, "It doesn’t matter if you like fighting or not; you are here because you are worried about one of your students, and your dedication as a teacher is truly remarkable. You are forcing yourself to do something you don’t want to just to make sure she will be okay... Boring... I don’t know who told you that, but believe me, there is nothing boring about you."
Julian felt his heartbeat racing as he watched Chris disappear inside the dungeon.
He had to place his hand on his heart for it to calm down, and he couldn’t believe his own reaction. It had been so long since the last time his body reacted to someone that he had almost forgotten this kind of feeling.
Chris certainly knew how to choose his words to manage to touch him in a way no one had ever done before... But hey, he was still one of his students, so he had to pull himself together and not forget why he had come here in the first place, and it wasn’t by staying outside this dungeon that he was going to be able to help Yelena... if he could, of course.
As he had seen everyone else draw their weapons before passing through the vortex, he did the same as them, except that he didn’t have one, so instead, he created an ice sword and finally joined the others.
Contrary to the blue dungeon, they were already attacked right from the start. But as he had taken his time to join them, there were not many creatures left to kill.
So he chose to join Iris and Helena, who were looking after Yelena, Zak, and Chris.
As he watched them fighting orcs, a pale blue glow appeared in his eyes when he saw that an orc was about to attack Chris from behind, and as it was in his blind spot, there was no chance that Chris had noticed it.
The orc was instantly killed by an ice spike that sank into his skull, and it happened just before Chris’s sword slashed through him after he turned when he sensed the threat coming from behind.
He’d been fighting in the purple dungeons for so long that his instincts had been sharpened, but he was still surprised to see the ice spike stuck in this orc’s skull.
He quickly turned his head towards Julian, who had remained close to Iris and Helena, and he told himself once again that this professor was really not ordinary, and that he was far more talented than any Mage he had been used to seeing until recently.
Chris had an affinity with the water and lightning elements, which gave him a great advantage over the other Mages, as there were only two in the entire academy who possessed the lightning element.
He therefore had early access to a great deal of knowledge that some Mages, even at the end of their apprenticeship, did not have the leisure to study.
But that was not enough for him; Chris wanted to become stronger to be worthy of serving their future King because, for him, the King his parents served had always been an imposter.
Since he had entered the school at the same time as Nolan, they had both quickly become friends. Nolan taught him the art of fighting, and they got into the habit of protecting each other in the purple dungeons.
When Nolan thought he was ready, he took him to the border to see what was really going on there. It was there that he developed an affinity with the light element when one of the soldiers was dying in front of them after protecting him and Nolan, and at that time, they had no more high-grade healing potions with them that could have helped this soldier.
Chris knew that this power existed, and after several failures to save this soldier, he had finally managed to see these green particles that were capable not only of healing serious wounds but also of healing wounds caused by the element of darkness.
That day, he managed to save the life of that soldier and many others, but after that, since he had pushed his limits too far, he stayed in a coma for four days.
Chris then stopped thinking about the past when he saw that two orcs were heading towards him, one from his left side and the other coming straight at him. He then looked at Julian and nodded in the direction of the orc that was coming straight at him; he was sure that he got his message.
So he dashed toward the one who came from his left side, and after parrying his axe strike, he pierced his chest with his sword and then beheaded him.
