Chapter 382: *A family matter*

In one of the Sect Sun pavilions, after another long day of training in the gravity room and then fighting in the dungeons, Ashton was completely exhausted.

Nolan, after taking him back to their new home, told him to get some rest and that he needed to attend the meeting to finish planning tomorrow’s attack.

Nolan had told him that he didn’t need to be there and that no one would blame him for not attending. He had told him that he would represent him and tell him everything he needed to know when he got home, and that the most important thing now was that he rested because he could see how exhausted he was.

Colin had made them train hard, and with Yelena, thanks to his wise advice, their combined attack had become more fluid and much more effective.

Now they never missed their target, and they were able to use it much faster than before, which was a good thing for tomorrow.

To his surprise, Nolan had cooked for him before he left and made him promise to eat before he went to wash and go to bed. After kissing him tenderly, he had told him that he would be back as soon as he could, and curiously, he didn’t leave by opening a teleportation portal in their living room but went outside instead.

Ashton, after watching him cook and taking care of him, still felt like he was dreaming. Ever since that night they had spent together, and after Nolan found out he was his soul mate, they had spent a lot of time together and had also shared the same bed since then.

Ashton had not returned to his family, but he knew that his parents had never liked the Lans; his family had always been envious of theirs, and they would never accept that he married Nolan.

But his family couldn’t force him to marry anyone, and once he and Nolan shared the mark of the Union, his family couldn’t separate them.

This made him nervous, and he wondered when Nolan would finally decide to make love to him and exchange their blood.

They had slept at his father’s house recently, so he could understand why he hadn’t tried anything, but was he waiting for them to finally be at home, or should he tell him that he was ready?

Ashton sighed then. He had no idea when Nolan would be home tonight, and after his dinner, the fatigue was almost making his head spin. He finally took a quick shower and put on only underwear to go to bed, and once under the blanket, he fell asleep immediately.

Nolan, who before leaving had set up a force field around their pavilion just in case Ashton’s family tried to kidnap him, swore in the middle of the meeting when he felt several people trying to break through it.

Nolan immediately apologized to Kerry and told him that he had to go and that he would be back as soon as he could. Kerry said to him that he could go and that he didn’t have to worry about it because his father was there and he could finish setting things up with him.

Nolan, having received Kerry’s agreement, was already starting to leave, but then he was stopped by his father, who told him, "If it’s Ashton who is in danger, don’t go alone; it’s a family matter... I’m staying here, go with your brothers and show them that it’s better not to mess with the Lan family."

Nolan was then immediately joined by Kelan, Alan, and Erik, and he smiled as he opened a teleportation portal, "Let’s go show my in-laws that my little rabbit has already chosen his side and the family he wants to live with."

Alan then asked him curiously, "How did he get the ridiculous nickname you gave him?"

Nolan then said to him, "Later, my force field is about to give way; let’s go."

Caleb then called Kelan before he left and said to him, "Contact me if you need backup and I’ll come right away."

Kelan smiled at him and nodded before going through the teleportation portal to follow his brothers. When Caleb saw Dilan raise an eyebrow, he said to him, "You’re the one who said this was a family matter, and I’m part of that family now."

Dilan then said to him, "Not yet. Do I need to remind you that you have not yet married my son?"

Caleb shrugged and said to him, "Alan hasn’t married Erik yet either, and Nolan doesn’t share the mark of Union with Ashton yet... But I will. I will marry Kelan, and I have a feeling that my general will give me his approval easier than expected. Kelan has made a very good impression on him."

Kerry then coughed to remind them where they were and said, semi-amused, semi-serious, "Guys, if we could get back to the plan, I’m sure nothing will happen to them since they are all four very strong."

While this short discussion had lightened the mood and made everyone smile, on the other side of the teleportation portal, Nolan was finally not dealing with his in-laws, at least not directly, as they had hired mercenaries to do the job for them.

Nolan then said to them, feeling really pissed off: "Honestly, you’re only 8 mercenaries. I’m super offended here; did they really think that would be enough to overpower me?"

He looked at his brothers and asked them, "Do I look that weak that they only hired 8 mercenaries?"

Kelan then said to him, while patting his shoulder just to annoy their opponents, "Don’t blame them too much; they have never seen you fighting on the border against the demon generals, that’s all."

Erik then asked him, "Do you want me to go check on Ashton, or do you want us to give them the scare of their lives?"

Nolan’s smile widened, and he said to his twin brother, "You’ve never seen me use this ability before, right?"

He then turned to Erik and said to him, "My dear brother-in-law, let’s scare the crap out of them."
