Chapter 269: I Don’t Know If He Is Lucky Or Unlucky
While Leone was resting in Yuni’s loving embrace, Hassan made his way to the highest peak of Grimjaw Mountain.
"Sorry, Astravor. Is it okay if I stay here for a while?" Hassan asked. "I need to talk to Leone’s mother without disturbing anyone."
The Gryphon gave the man a brief nod before lowering its head to rest. Since the assassin asked it nicely, it had no reason to deny his request.
Hassan then activated his own obsidian crystal so he could report unfiltered information to Helen. Leone didn’t need to hear this conversation, which was why he deliberately found a secluded place.
"Tell me more about the war between the Aslan Tribe and the Darkmane Tribe," Helen said as soon as the connection was established. "Also, are you sure we won’t need to send 2, 3, and 4 to assist my son?"
The assassin didn’t hold anything back, telling Helen everything that had gone down between the Aslan Tribe and the Darkmane Tribe.
Of course, this included their operation that burned Darkmane City to the ground, which made Helen chuckle.
"You did well, Hassan." Helen smiled. "I wish I could have seen it myself. Still, since Otto was with you, how come Troy is still alive? Why is my son not ordering his assassination?"
"I don’t know what the Young Master is thinking, My Lady," Hassan replied. "However, if you give me the order, I will eliminate the Darkmane Tribe’s chieftain without fail."
Helen pondered for a while before shaking her head. "Leone might have his own plans for Troy. If we eliminate him, we might just indirectly ruin my son’s strategy. As much as I hate to let him go, I will leave this matter up to Leone’s judgment."
Hassan nodded. "My Lady, you have records of the strength of the Monster King that leads the monster stampede for every generation, right? How strong is this monster?"
"While the race of the Monster King changes with each generation, their strength is more or less equivalent to that of an Elder Dragon," Helen replied. "If a monster of that strength endangers my son, you must prioritize Leone’s safety above anyone else. Do I make myself clear, Hassan?"
"Understood, My Lady."
"Oh, right. One more thing. You can summon your subordinates tomorrow night. I will give them something that might help Leone survive this calamity."
Hassan scratched his head at those words. He was genuinely reluctant to summon his subordinates to the Aslan Tribe.
Truth be told, since the first day he had started serving Helen, the most peaceful period he’d ever exceed was by Leone’s side, away from his subordinates.
They were so obnoxious that when his Mistress asked him and his comrades who among them were willing to find Leone in the Borderlands, Hassan didn’t hesitate to volunteer for the job.
After all, that was the only way he could "officially" ditch his subordinates without receiving any complaints.
"Ugh... just thinking about them coming here is already giving me a headache, My Lady," Hassan confessed.
Helen chuckled at her subordinates’ hardship. "Don’t worry. They are good girls at heart. As long as you praise them, they will behave... probably."
A profound silence descended upon the peak as neither Hassan nor Helen spoke.
However, seeing that this would be a waste of time and resources after activating the obsidian crystal, the two returned to discussing how the Frontera Family could actively help Leone in building his kingdom.
"Tell me, Hassan," Helen said in a serious tone. "What does my son need the most right now? Is it weapons? Armors? Or does he need people?"
"None of those, My Lady," Hassan answered. "The Young Master can build a fortress in less than ten minutes. He doesn’t need weapons and armors because he can make them just as easily."
"So, resources then?" Helen arched an eyebrow. "Mithril, Adamantine, Magic Crystals, and other consumables right?"
Since Helen was now aware of Daedalus’ existence, she had no reason to doubt Hassan’s report.
"That’s right, My Lady." Hassan nodded. "As long as the Young Master has enough resources, he can probably build or make anything."
"He can build anything... Wait, that’s it!" Helen suddenly had a flash of inspiration. "Hassan, Leone might be able to pull off what we’ve been trying to do for the past two decades."
For a brief moment, the assassin didn’t understand what his Mistress was talking about. Though, when she showed him a sealed scroll, he immediately understood what Helen wished to confirm.
"Right... I believe that if the Young Master is able to obtain classified blueprints, even the projects that both the Radiant Empire and the Kingdom of Britannia thought of as impossible might become possible through the Young Master’s powers."
"Very well." The smile on Helen’s face widened. "I will give my son plenty of blueprints he can play around with. This shall be my belated birthday gift to him. Since it will take some time to copy them, summon your subordinates an hour before midnight. I will have them take the blueprints as well."
Hassan could already see it. If Leone could really build anything, then wouldn’t he be the perfect man to test those blueprints? After all, weren’t they rejected because they consumed too much time and resources to build?
They were projects that would take decades of trial and error to make. But with Daedalus’ help, the process could be sped up drastically without too much effort.
"My Lady, are you sure about this?" Hassan asked calmly. "If the Young Master is really able to pull this off... then he will become the target of the Kingdom of Britannia."
"Hassan, what they don’t know won’t hurt them," Helen replied in a teasing tone. "Plus, by the time they know of it, Leone would no longer need to fear them. By then, he would already have the strength to defend himself."
"But what if they target the Frontera Viscounty instead?" Hassan inquired cautiously.
Helen didn’t give him any answer. She simply smiled.
A smile that made Hassan feel a chill running down his spine.
"We’ll cross that bridge when we get there, Hassan," Helen replied. "But you have to remember this. Do I look like a pushover?"
"No, My Lady." Hassan shook his head. "I apologize for my words earlier."
"No need to apologize." Helen leaned on the chair. "My son doesn’t need to fight our battles, Hassan. He already has a lot on his plate. Also, if something really happens to us, then I am confident that I can take my family and escape."
"You’re right, My Lady." Hassan nodded. "And when the Young Master hears about it, that will be the day the Kingdom of Britannia will know true fear."
Helen chuckled. "My son did promise that he would return, right? He would return with power, wealth, and an army so vast that the ground would tremble under their feet. Just thinking about that moment makes me proud that I gave birth to my little herbivore."
"My Lady, about the Radiant Empire..." Hassan wasn’t able to finish whatever he was going to say due to the coldness that he saw in his Mistress’ gaze.
"Don’t worry about them, Hassan," Helen stated. "The only thing you need to worry about is keeping my son safe. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, My Lady." Hassan no longer mentioned the Radiant Empire and told his Mistress about the current state of the Borderlands.
When the communication was finally cut off, Helen heaved a deep sigh before leaning on her chair.
Marco, who was seated across from her, stood up from his chair and went to massage his wife’s back.
Helen allowed him to listen to her discussion with Hassan. Anyway, the two of them never kept important secrets that concerned their family from each other.
"You did well, my love," Marco said. "Don’t worry. Leone might not be as strong as his brothers, but he has an uncanny ability when it comes to ’Lucky Encounters’. Isn’t Daedalus proof that our son’s unusual luck is working to his favor?"
"Indeed." Helen smirked. "Unfortunately, his luck doesn’t work the way he wants to. Sometimes, I don’t know if he is lucky or unlucky."
"Of course he’s lucky," Marco replied. "After all, he inherited that luck from me."
"You?" Helen arched an eyebrow. "How can you say that you are lucky? Your luck has never been good, you know?"
"Didn’t I tell you?" Marco said as he continued to massage his wife’s shoulder. "Leone inherited my luck. Otherwise, how could I have married such a beautiful and exceptional woman like you? It’s all thanks to my luck."
"Oh, you~" Helen couldn’t help but smile because she couldn’t possibly say that she fell in love with Marco because he was charming despite his rough exterior.
"My love, I was thinking... Maybe Leone will be happier when he returns to find out that he has another little brother or little sister," Marco said softly. "Plus, I’m sure Elizabeth will be happy to take care of a younger sibling since she is the youngest right now."
"Give me half an hour." Helen lightly patted her husband’s hand. "I’ll pass my orders to the Numbers before I return to our room. You better be prepared because you’re not getting any sleep tonight."
"Challenge accepted," Marco replied before kissing the back of his wife’s hand.
Looking at Helen’s face that was filled with affection, he once again affirmed that he was the luckiest man in the world to have married the priceless gem of the Radiant Empire.
