Chapter 11: Relaunch Math
The lender gave Ryan and Mika seventy-two hours to cure the club’s defaults, which meant every dollar they had recovered now belonged to a night that did not exist yet.
The acceleration letter arrived the morning after his rank adjustment.
It used bold deadlines while avoiding the failed inspection, the damaged recovery tool, plus any detail that might make the lender look responsible.
"They want the full balance by Monday," Mika said, spreading the pages across the bar, "I can offer a throne, several broken glasses, and a risk consultant whose market price recently reached E-rank, though your resale value drops once they notice the brace."
"The throne belongs to your sponsor," Ryan replied, watching her left hand stay flat against her ribs, "the consultant has a fractured wrist, so we cure the default instead."
Her loan defined default through lost combat income, falling occupancy, plus unsafe operations.
A documented relaunch could cure all three while increasing the lender’s prize.
Ryan worked through the loan package overnight, while Mika rebuilt the club’s actual operating model beside him.
Staff costs, rental equipment, security, plus an output budget for her lightning display consumed nearly everything available.
’A profitable night was apparently a medical procedure with receipts,’ Ryan thought, marking another line, ’the club just needed to survive it.’
Ryan made every expense an argument that morning.
He restored photographed décor after Mika proved its value, while she cut a guest performer who consumed their repair margin.
"We can sell enough tickets," she said, turning her booking history toward him, "keeping people inside after they see the missing audio rig requires more than confidence, since nobody pays premium prices to admire clean rectangles where equipment used to stand."
"The cure needs one profitable night with verified occupancy," he said, circling the threshold, "it does not need the old club, only receipts the lender cannot reinterpret on Monday."
"People paid for the old club," Mika said, tapping the missing equipment list with one nail, "I need them to believe the replacement costs more."
The disagreement ended when a financing schedule revealed Mika’s loan inside the lender’s borrowing base.
Ryan mapped the club from collectible debt to supporting collateral, then read the same paragraph again.
’There you are,’ he thought, following the cross-reference with his pen, ’the part they expected nobody in a nightclub to notice.’
Three amendments completed the structure before noon. A defective pledged loan could trigger facility review, while proven predatory terms placed the lender itself at risk.
Ryan arranged the cure across the sound-booth wall like Opening Position rendered in paper.
Occupancy held the center, hunter income guarded one flank, while safety records plus settled receipts denied every retreat.
Each document carried a second witness and an independent timestamp.
Ryan wrote those requirements on cards, then handed them to staff members who had expected a party meeting instead of a paper-based siege.
"You turned opening night into a spear formation with alcohol," Mika said, assigning two staff members to shadow every count, "which is deeply unromantic and annoyingly difficult to repossess."
"The alcohol is doing most of the work," Ryan replied, checking the bar’s payment terminals.
By noon, the relaunch had become a trap whose weapons looked like ordinary records until somebody crossed the line.
Mika kept moving labels between ticket tiers, then stole Ryan’s pen when he tried to add a fourth verification column.
"They used your loan as collateral," he said, moving the schedule between them, "if we cure every default before proving the acceleration defective, their own creditor can challenge the facility, and this club becomes the smallest problem in their building."
Mika read the cross-reference twice, then ran her nail down the clause. "Can we use it now?" she asked.
"We cannot do it safely," he said, sealing the schedule beneath the working budget, "if we threaten them while our loan remains in default, they litigate until the club runs out of cash, so we cure first and make their paper dangerous after they commit."
"So we spend everything on a relaunch," she said, turning the checklist toward herself, "then let them arrive confident and watch their own bank repossess the lender."
"That is the order," Ryan said.
"Which means I sell a room built from missing equipment," she went on, unimpressed, "while you keep the threat shut until they commit in front of witnesses."
"Then neither of us panics where customers can see it," Ryan added.
"I was going to say that part," she said, sounding robbed.
"That is the less dramatic version," Ryan replied, watching her decide whether to be offended.
The interface reacted before he finished assembling the evidence file.
It attempted to classify the lender through a function Ryan had never seen.
[Hostile Quest Entity Detected]
[Quest Resolution Function: Unavailable]
[Adaptive Counterparty Review Initiated]
The failed hero category collapsed into language suited to the financial position Ryan had uncovered.
[Distressed Opportunity Detected]
[Counterparty: Overleveraged]
[Potential Return: Acquisition / Settlement / Leverage]
Infinite capital remained unavailable for the relaunch. The system recognised the lender as a future opportunity, then offered zero dollars toward surviving the weekend.
’It could identify an overleveraged counterparty,’ Ryan thought, staring at the empty funding line, ’the rent still remained between us and Friday.’
Mika launched the event page before sunrise, naming the ticket tiers Minimum Payment, Grace Period, plus Forgiven.
Grace Period sold out first, though Forgiven passed it after the internet began debating whether the names were branding or a public request for help.
The sales page became free advertising once regulars shared purchase confirmations beside the repossession footage.
{minimum payment secured, financially responsible behavior begins at midnight}
Mika’s phone refreshed before she could answer the first comment.
{bought grace period because forgiveness sounded suspiciously affordable}
Mika answered only the performance question, promising a controlled appearance without letting anyone price how badly the club needed the room full.
{is the lightning set confirmed or are we paying to watch the accountant calculate}
Staff turned ticket sales into a section contest before lunch.
Ryan replaced discounts with post-event referral credit, prompting his banking app to create a savings goal without permission.
[Goal: Everything]
[Time Remaining: 72 Hours]
"That is the first honest recommendation it has made," Mika said, approving equipment rentals with her thumb.
The auction-house organizer accepted a premium table after Ryan reminded him that Mika had converted his failed security into the most shared clip of the preview.
Three collectors followed, bringing enough spending power to cure the combat-income condition before the doors opened.
’The internet had funded the evidence chain,’ Ryan thought, counting reservations on the bar mat, ’which was a sentence he would never put in a report.’
Preparation consumed the club through the next day, with every missing asset becoming a decision the staff had to price.
They rehearsed entry counts while Mika rebuilt the room around borrowed equipment.
A power rig arrived with a technician who described its condition as probably fine, then asked where the emergency cutoff lived.
Ryan checked the maintenance sticker while the man examined the rig as if it had personally betrayed him.
"You said it would be fine on the phone," Ryan said, holding the sticker beneath the booth light.
"I said it should be fine," the technician replied, opening the panel, "now that I have met it, keep my number nearby, avoid loading every circuit together, and do not interpret any new sound as encouragement."
Ryan confirmed each major reservation himself before checking the changing cure model.
He balanced the organizer’s table demand, two security requests, plus one team’s question about Mika against the changing cure model.
He wrote Mika’s output budget on paper inside the sound booth where both could see it during the event.
One opening arc, three controlled lighting sequences, plus enough reserve to protect the room if the lender sent muscle.
"The crowd will ask for an encore," Mika said, reading the limit with her mouth pulled to one side.
"Then they can purchase tickets for the next one," Ryan replied.
"You are volunteering to tell a full nightclub that its favorite part is over," she said, folding the paper once, "is that the speech you give when you want people to invite you back?"
"I have experience delivering unpopular financial information," he told her, checking the reserve again.
The lender officer accepted with Asset Inspection as his plus-one.
His arrival unsettled staff until Ryan assigned them the table directly facing the sound booth, where every cured condition would become visible before the officer understood he was documenting his own defeat.
Mika thanked him for his continued partnership before pinning the acceptance beside four empty cure boxes that tomorrow night had to fill before the lender acted.
Ryan sealed the cross-default evidence behind the cure it needed to protect. Mika taped a note beneath the checklist before leaving the booth.
{one night, spend everything, collect it back with interest}
Ryan read the note twice, then put the pen on top of it so nobody could move it by accident.
