Chapter 617: Chapter 617: Don’t Ask for Trouble!
Although this wasn’t the Su Mansion, he was used to being arrogant and domineering. He always acted like he was number one and heaven was number two. He didn’t respect the heavens, let alone other people.
"That’s the guy!" Suddenly, Driver Jiang spotted Yang Qi walking toward the hotel and couldn’t help but shout.
Gu Lingshan turned to look at Yang Qi.
He’s handsome enough, but his clothes are unbelievably tacky. To think he’d actually wear a tracksuit to a reception like this. It fits him, sure, but it’s completely out of place. And it’s not even an international brand—just some domestic sportswear that probably costs a few hundred yuan at most. How dare a pauper like that hit my car and my driver? He’s simply courting death!
Gu Lingshan was about to march over and hold Yang Qi accountable.
At that moment, the hotel manager emerged with a smile. "Young Master Gu, why are you standing outside? You’re the man of the hour today; you’ve booked the entire hotel. Everyone feels awkward without you. Besides, President Li from the Qifei Group has already arrived. She’s absolutely stunning—she must have dressed up especially for you."
Hearing this, Gu Lingshan’s interest was piqued. Just as he was turning to go inside, Yang Qi walked right up to them.
Gu Lingshan shot the manager a look. "I didn’t invite *that* person. Didn’t I book out the entire hotel today? How did he get in?"
The manager glanced at Yang Qi, finding him vaguely familiar but unable to quite place him. He walked over and asked, "Sir, you don’t have an invitation, do you?"
If this manager knew Yang Qi’s identity, he wouldn’t have dared to stop him even if he had a hundred times more courage. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t know. The previous manager had been promoted for his "brave conduct" after a group of wastrels beat him so badly he was hospitalized. This man was his replacement. Though he had seen Yang Qi once or twice, he had no idea who he was. Right now, all he wanted was to curry favor with Gu Lingshan, so he naturally followed his orders.
"No," Yang Qi said flatly.
"If you don’t have an invitation, you can’t go inside. Young Master Gu has booked this place for today. If you want to dine, come back tomorrow!" the manager said haughtily, his head held high.
Gu Lingshan smirked at this, and Driver Jiang did the same.
A dog trying to get in without its master? Dream on.
"By the way, Manager Liao, this kid hit my car and my driver. Have security hold him for me. I’ll deal with him after the reception," Gu Lingshan said with a smile.
"No problem!" Manager Liao agreed instantly and called the security department.
He turned to Yang Qi and said smugly, "Kid, you could have offended anyone, but you chose Young Master Gu. You’re really asking for it. Stand right here and don’t move, or I’ll call the police."
Then, he turned back to Gu Lingshan with utmost respect. "Young Master Gu, please go inside. I’ll handle things out here!"
"So, you think you can’t afford to offend him, but you can afford to offend me? Is that it?" Yang Qi asked, a small smile playing on his lips. "I might not have an invitation, but my boss does. I’m her bodyguard and part-time driver! If you won’t let me in, then he can’t go in either," he said, pointing at Driver Jiang.
"Who do you think you are? How can you compare to him? He’s Young Master Gu’s driver!" Manager Liao snapped impatiently. "And what are you? Daring to threaten me? To tell me what to do?"
Gu Lingshan chuckled, clearly pleased with how the situation was being handled. He looked at Yang Qi and sneered, "Kid, I’ll take care of you when I come out!"
Driver Jiang was also unbearably smug, as if he’d just received the emperor’s favor and was now flaunting it before a concubine banished to the Cold Palace.
"If he can go in, so can I," Yang Qi said, looking Manager Liao in the eye. "You can’t just break your own rules, can you?"
"Shut up! Keep blabbering and see if I don’t take care of you!" Manager Liao roared.
SLAP!
A cold glint flashed in Yang Qi’s eyes. His hand shot out and struck Manager Liao across the face, sending the man spinning on the spot three full times. A welt instantly rose on his cheek.
"You were given a chance and you spat on it," Yang Qi said coldly. "When I choose to be reasonable, you should listen. Because when I’m not, you won’t be able to handle the consequences."
Everyone nearby froze. Even Gu Lingshan was stunned. This driver has some serious nerve, actually daring to get physical.
Driver Jiang was so scared he nearly collapsed to his knees.
"You... You hit me?" Manager Liao stammered, dazed for a long moment. He couldn’t accept it. He’d been hit? In his own hotel?
"Consider getting hit a light punishment. Remember this lesson and stop asking for trouble." Yang Qi gave Manager Liao a disdainful look, then stepped into the hotel. Although Manager Liao wanted to stop him, he was trembling too much in fear to move.
All he could do was pull out his phone and call the head of security, urging him to hurry over.
Soon, the head of security personally rushed over with a group of men. "Liao, what happened?" he asked.
Manager Liao’s voice was frigid. "Someone’s causing trouble at Young Master Gu’s reception. He doesn’t have an invitation but forced his way in. The guy’s wearing a white tracksuit, so he’s easy to spot. Catch him, break all his limbs, and cripple him. Then hand him over to Young Master Gu for disposal."
"Son of a bitch!" the security head snarled. "Doesn’t he know our hotel is under the Star Shining Society’s protection? To think someone would still dare cause trouble here! Manager Liao, just point him out. We’ll teach him a lesson for you."
Under the aegis of the Star Shining Society, anyone who dared to make a scene could not be let off lightly.
By now, Gu Lingshan and his driver had already gone inside, leaving the matter for Manager Liao to handle. He had more important things to attend to.
Yang Qi was looking for Li Qingyan when Manager Liao suddenly charged over with his group of men.
"You brat, stop right there! You dare hit me? You must be tired of living!" Manager Liao pounced like a rabid dog.
With more than a dozen security guards backing me, I’m not afraid anymore. A worthless driver dared to hit me? And even lecture me? Teach me how to behave? How outrageous! What a disgrace! An absolute humiliation!
Manager Liao grabbed Yang Qi and bellowed, "Kid, you think it’s over just because you hit me? Today, I’m going to cripple you! I’ll break all your limbs and hand you over to Young Master Gu!"
Yang Qi’s gaze turned icy again, now laced with a hint of killing intent.
I was already holding back. As a Cultivator, mere mortals are becoming increasingly insignificant in my eyes, so I can’t be bothered with them. But that doesn’t mean I’ll let them do as they please.
As he met Yang Qi’s eyes, Manager Liao’s hand instinctively let go. In that instant, it was as if he saw a vision of hell on earth, a mountain of corpses in a sea of blood, the very gates of the underworld swinging open before him.
A bone-deep chill washed over him. He felt as if he were about to die.
GULP!
He swallowed hard, forcing himself to calm down. He didn’t understand why he was so terrified; it was completely baffling.
"Quick, over here! This is the guy!" Manager Liao yelled to his men. "He even dared to glare at me! I don’t care if you’re a retired special forces soldier, you’re getting your limbs broken today!"
