Chapter 198: Chapter 198: He Doesn’t Want to Live Like Before Anymore

"What did you do to me!" Long Yun’s face was ugly as he roared toward Ren Fengxiang’s position.

He struggled to stand up, only to find that both his legs and waist felt powerless—he could only lie on the ground.

In that instant, he understood what Ren Fengxiang meant by those words.

He hadn’t been the right person to guard the door before, but now, he’s perfect for it.

Now, he could only move on all fours, crawling on the ground like a dog.

Leng Feng looked at Long Yun sprawled on the floor, eyes complicated.

He finally understood why Jiang Che had Long Yun fill out a file, granting him the power of rebirth.

Just a moment ago, he still hadn’t figured out why.

Because, as Jiang Che said, reviving a high-tier human consumed an enormous amount of energy.

No one, except Ren Fengxiang, could tolerate such humiliation and do everything possible to survive. That was the reason they admired Ren Fengxiang.

No one wanted to cross him—a man that cruel to himself would be even more ruthless to others.

So, if Long Yun could never recover, all he’d have left was revenge, and the option to die.

But now, just the temptation of rebirth made all Long Yun’s schemes evaporate.

Long Yun stared at the file in Jiang Che’s hand, not knowing why he’d signed his own name—his mind had gone blank in that instant, filled only with the thought of being reborn.

Everything happened as if driven by some unseen force.

Revenge was impossible; dying and coming back would only mean being reborn to his current state—condemned to remain a dog in the dungeon.

Ren Fengxiang ignored him. The look he gave Long Yun held not a trace of sympathy.

He turned to the gathered crowd. "I heard someone’s got their eye on my brother’s dungeon, thinking of trying to kill him and claim it for themselves."

He pulled out his phone, glancing at the group chat and what everyone had been saying.

He read it out, word by word.

Jiang Che stood nearby; the first time he heard those words, his expression changed for just a split second before settling back into calm.

His gaze was downcast, his eyes bleak; no one could guess what he was thinking.

The others looked unhappy—these had all been speculations about Jiang Che’s newly created dungeon.

They believed no one would snitch, no one would ever contact Jiang Che.

After reading a few random lines, Ren Fengxiang put his phone away.

"What you said—I think it’s fair," he said.

"Try, if you want to. If you can kill him, the dungeon’s yours."

"A dungeon with a master does have a chance of failing to be devoured," Jiang Che added.

He wasn’t lying. If dungeons with lords could still be devoured so easily, the lords of the Evil Spirit Realm would have started butchering each other long ago.

Ren Fengxiang nodded as well. "I don’t think my brother was lying. If anyone wants to try, go ahead."

"In the past, the two of us were just meat on the chopping block in the hospital, to be carved up at will."

This was what he and Jiang Che had agreed upon back when they left that room.

No matter what, he’d deal with Long Yun, giving everyone a memory they’d never forget.

He didn’t want to repeat the old days.

He knew these people feared him.

It was exactly because of his ruthlessness that they were afraid.

And Jiang Che—he would keep Long Yun trapped in the dungeon forever.

No more vengeance allowed; die and be reborn, and you’ll still stay here—a guard dog at the entrance.

Anyone planning to make a move, before entering the dungeon, would see the dog at the door.

Since ancient times, dogs were raised to guard the house, to warn off those with ill intent.

Now, Long Yun served that very purpose.

"If you want to try in the future, go ahead."

"But this time, we won’t be anybody’s prey again." He turned to look at the Red Pearl Mental Hospital behind him.

It still looked familiar. When he left, this was how Red Pearl Mental Hospital appeared; now he was back, nothing had changed.

Only their roles had changed. Now, they would never again let themselves be controlled or slaughtered as before.

"Bro, how exactly was this dungeon created?" He paid no attention to Long Yun writhing on the ground. Long Yun, furious, tried to charge at the pair, only to find he could never leave the area near the gate.

Jiang Che had drawn boundaries for him; he could only move within that space, unable to escape.

"Same as I said before: set the anchor point, begin fixing the dungeon stage, and if your willpower has its own direction, just follow your consciousness through," Jiang Che hadn’t lied to anyone earlier.

Ren Fengxiang stepped into the Dark Forest, his awareness beginning to sink.

He had no intention of planting his anchor somewhere far away; he chose to place his dungeon right next to Jiang Che’s.

The crowd felt Ren Fengxiang’s aura change; it was exactly as Jiang Che had described. The steps, the motions—perfectly identical, not a single move wasted.

Long Yun knelt on the ground, eyes brimming with hatred and despair.

He tried everything to stand, but to no avail.

The Dragon Cloud Tower crew rushed forward, targeting the file in Jiang Che’s hands, hoping to snatch it away.

But just as they moved, a blood-red crystal appeared in front of them, accompanied by a floating white spirit body.

They were sent to the original entrance location.

The dungeon’s minimap generated in front of the Dragon Cloud Tower lackeys, and, with the prompts in their minds, they instantly understood the rules of Jiang Che’s dungeon.

Collect all the blood-colored crystals and reach the exit—then you clear the stage.

The dungeon was huge. They stood at the exit—meaning they’d need to run a full loop through the dungeon and return here to succeed.

In Long Yun’s mind, a mission appeared: stop the intruders inside the dungeon.

And the moment he was trapped here, he became one of the dungeon’s checkpoints.

Only, his checkpoint was relatively free—he could choose whether or not to intercept them.

The faces of the intruders dragged into the dungeon were grim; naturally, they appeared on the map too. Their boss was on it as well—

But listed as a mini-boss for the checkpoint.

As the Dragon Cloud Tower group was pulled into the dungeon, the live-stream began too.

Leng Feng paused, as if he finally understood where all the various evil spirits in the dungeon came from.

"So, all those evil spirits—can they all be reborn in dungeons?" he asked, face dark. Up till now, countless humans had died in dungeons; if all could be reborn, what did all those killings even mean?

Jiang Che shook his head. "No."

"Each dungeon’s auxiliary features are set by the lord’s intent."

"My dungeon’s checkpoint is simple. Functions are basic. This one ability, you could say, is a trade-off for overall strength." After creating the dungeon, Jiang Che had learned a lot about dungeon mechanics.

Most lords wouldn’t unify their whole dungeon into a single stage like he did.

Normally, they’d let evil spirits roam and slaughter within a region as they pleased.

"Also, if the dungeon doesn’t accumulate enough life energy, it can’t revive indefinitely."

"For them, this function is kind of pointless—after all, they can always recruit more underlings."
