Chapter 258: Facing the Demon King Rigal’s Fortress (P1)
Almost exactly ten minutes had passed since Karol and Ivis flew off toward the dark snowy horizon.
Both of them had the vital intention of implementing the wide magical barrier that would completely seal off the annoying telepathy of the demons and dragons in the war zone.
The immense group that Queen Ophelia had behind her was truly intimidating.
It was made up of nine Infernal-rank demons, elite warriors with murderous auras, and at least eighty Principality-rank demons ready for the massacre.
Right now, Ivis should already be in her exact position above the enemy fortress.
And most likely, the darkness dragon named Janina would already be on her own hunting duties in the shadows; however, Ryan decided not to ask about her.
In the cold and rocky place of the cliff, Ryan, his main assault group, and his entire army of elves and beastmen patiently waited for the attack signal.
Beatrice, who until now had remained quiet and highly observant, approached Ophelia’s imposing figure with calm steps.
The demon spy looked at the queen and asked with curiosity.
"Lady Ophelia, are that huge-breasted woman named Roky and the other demon really blood sisters?" she said in a soft tone, staring intently at the two women.
After all, their appearances, attitudes, and facial expressions were completely different.
"I am Roxy!" the demon girl grumbled immediately, overhearing the conversation and crossing her arms with a clear pout of indignation upon hearing her name mispronounced again.
To which Mirian also intervened quickly from behind, taking a step forward with a mocking smile on her face.
"Yes, I also find it hard to believe they share blood," the blonde archer said. "Especially because of the huge difference in their tits."
And to emphasize her crude comment, Mirian made a quick gesture with both hands in the air, reflecting the totally unequal size between the two demon women’s breasts.
Ophelia found the matter highly amusing, letting out a light laugh before explaining the situation.
The demon queen clarified that no, they were not blood sisters at all, but Roxy respects her a lot as a true older sister, even though both warriors hold exactly the same military rank in her army.
Ryan observed everyone present interacting from his position, keeping his hands hidden in the pockets of his dark trench coat.
’Everyone is very calm, even though many will probably die, after all, it is a demon king who we will face.’ Ryan took his hand out of his pocket and looked at it for a moment.
’Even I am far too calm. Is this because I trust in my current power?’ He raised his face, staring intently at Ophelia.
’Or maybe it is that I trust that Ophelia will not lose against the demon king Rigal.’
He did not know for sure if that strange sense of calm was because he blindly trusted his new physical capabilities. But he could not allow himself to feel doubts, and upon realizing that no one around him seemed to feel any doubt or fear, he smiled slightly.
"Ah! Brother, look closely, it is that human," a childish voice said suddenly.
Ryan immediately turned around upon hearing the surprising call.
He saw two demons walking toward the main group. Both had an extremely similar physical appearance, almost identical.
Ryan had already seen them before guarding the throne room in Ophelia’s grand castle during his first visit.
"Sister, if it is that mysterious human, then he really came to fight," one of the twins said, looking at Ophelia and his sister beside her.
"I told you clearly that he would," the other twin replied with a wide, arrogant smile.
"That is not true, I was the one who said he would come," the first one retorted, starting a small and useless argument between them.
Ophelia took a step forward, cutting off the newcomers’ loud chatter with her demon queen presence.
"The twins have returned," Ophelia announced with a calm voice.
The demon queen advanced toward them with elegant steps. "Did you do everything I asked?"
"Yes, My Lady," both twins said in unison, bowing deeply in respect toward their ruler, losing all their relaxed attitude.
"Who are those two?" Mirian asked, tilting her head and readying her bow out of pure instinct upon seeing the new, dangerous demons.
"I had already seen them before in Ophelia’s castle," Ryan replied, calming the tense archer with a simple wave of his hand.
"Yes, that is very true," Ophelia said with a slight smile on her face. "But their main duty is not to guard my castle. Normally they are Roky’s relief in the great tower of Armenes."
"My Lady, you are going to call me that too..." Roxy grumbled, lowering her head in a massive, dramatic depression upon hearing that even her queen was getting her name wrong on purpose to annoy her.
"Ha ha ha." Ophelia let out a wide, genuine laugh, greatly enjoying making her loud subordinate suffer a bit.
The hundreds of villa soldiers formed around them, both the skilled elves and the sturdy demi-humans, quickly noticed the highly relaxed atmosphere in the vanguard.
They began to comment among themselves in very low voices, feeling their own nerves disappear completely.
They murmured that they had a lot of confidence in their leader, Ryan, and in their new, lethal demon allies.
Many of them said that never in their long lives would they see such a strange situation. A peaceful and cooperative military alliance between races that were supposed to hate each other to death was something simply impossible to believe until today.
Irina, the beautiful elven princess, took a step forward from the side of her wyvern, drawing the queen’s attention very timidly.
"I was always very curious to know why that place has that specific name," she murmured in a highly respectful tone.
"What did you say, elf?" Ophelia replied, turning her heavy gaze toward her.
Irina brought both hands to her chest feeling intensely watched by one of the strongest beings in the world, feeling an immense invisible pressure.
"I mean, the famous tower of Armenes..." Irina swallowed hard and continued. "Armenes is the capital city of the holy knights and the church. So, why does a demonic watchtower still have that holy name?"
