Chapter 74: A Strange Appetite
Since he was now capable of controlling it, there was no reason to waste such an advantage.
The sense of security this place provided far surpassed anything his previous home could offer.
After deciding on the room, Joo Joowon withdrew the Spider Web Launcher and headed downstairs once again.
As long as the web strands fired by the Spider Web Launcher were not destroyed, they could be collected and reused.
The launcher had three firing ports, each corresponding to a different type of web.
The webs stored inside were not infinite in quantity, but they could be replenished.
This was also the reason Joo Joowon was able to manipulate the webs throughout the Spider Chimera’s nest.
This was originally a form of control possessed by the "king" of a species over members of the same race whose life rank was lower than its own.
After returning home, Joo Joowon wrapped all the belongings he intended to bring with him in spider silk.
One reason was to train himself until using the webs became as natural as using his own hands.
The other reason was simply that it made carrying things much easier.
His Strength was already far from weak.
He could lift a sofa with ease, but no matter how strong a person was, there was still a limit to how much two hands could carry.
The webs were simply far more convenient.
Byeol looked completely confused as he watched Joo Joowon busily moving back and forth.
Moving house was a distant memory for the little cat and he had absolutely no idea what Joo Joowon was doing.
After making several trips back and forth, there was no trace of daylight left outside.
While stroking Byeol’s soft white fur, Joo Joowon finally took out the card and activated it on him.
The card immediately shattered into countless specks of light and dispersed into the air.
At the same time, an intense white glow erupted from Byeol’s body, as though he were about to evolve.
A look of shock instantly appeared on Byeol’s fluffy little face.
His pupils trembled violently as his entire body was gradually swallowed by the white light.
When the light finally faded enough to reveal him again, Byeol’s body... had not changed at all.
His expression... was still one of pure shock.
Very soon, the glow dimmed completely, leaving behind a Byeol who appeared exactly the same as before standing in front of Joo Joowon.
"Emmmm..."
Joo Joowon reached out and lifted Byeol up.
The cat dangled in the air, soft and squishy as ever.
"Why didn’t your size increase at all?" Joo Joowon scratched his head in confusion.
Logically speaking, a cat’s Physique should not be anywhere near as high as a human’s, right?
And Byeol was still so small to begin with.
After gaining additional Physique, the changes should have been fairly obvious, shouldn’t they?
Especially since Byeol was a white cat!
What was a white cat?
A princess in the eyes of humans, but near the bottom of the food chain in the cat world.
Their fighting ability was unimpressive and they were not particularly favored during mating season.
Not to mention that Byeol had been born with a naturally small frame.
When Joo Joowon took him to the pet hospital for a checkup, the vet had even said that his time as a stray and his habit of eating random things had caused some stomach problems.
So how could there be absolutely no changes at all?
Could it simply be too dark to notice anything?
With that thought in mind, Joo Joowon picked up the flashlight and carefully examined Byeol from head to toe.
Unfortunately, Joo Joowon had already raised Byeol to have smooth and glossy fur long before the apocalypse began.
No matter how carefully he looked now, he simply could not find anything unusual.
Instead, all the fussing and poking around began to annoy Byeol.
The little cat could not help letting out a somewhat low and dissatisfied meow.
Joo Joowon moved the flashlight farther away and could only guess that perhaps the Life Essence was simply too low in quality to produce any noticeable changes.
Besides, it had originally been leftovers used by an Elite monster.
The improvement probably was not that significant to begin with.
After rubbing Byeol’s head, Joo Joowon decided it was time to rest.
The power had already gone out and it was no longer possible to hunt zombies at night even if he wanted to.
The conditions simply did not allow it.
The only option was to sleep and recover his energy.
After tidying everything up, Joo Joowon lay down in his new bedroom to sleep.
Since he was not actually sleepy, he equipped Mind’s Eye and tried to adapt to a method of sleeping with one eye open and one eye closed.
A lone wolf had to learn how to stay alert to possible dangers even while sleeping.

Joo Joowon was currently locked in a battle of wits with Mind’s Eye, which stubbornly refused to obey him properly.
He was already beginning to grasp the feeling of sleeping with his eyes open when the crunching sounds around him stimulated what little drowsiness he had managed to gather.
After enduring it for a while, he sat up and decided to move Byeol’s food bowl into the living room.
The moment he sat up, Joo Joowon suddenly froze.
Byeol’s food bowl was already in the living room!
Then who was eating?
The Spider Web Launcher, which never left his side, activated instantly.
It silently moved toward the source of the sound and launched its attack in an instant.
Bang!
The sound of glass falling to the floor echoed through the room, followed immediately by a panicked and frightened cat cry.
"Byeol?"
Joo Joowon grabbed his phone, which still had a little battery remaining, and turned on the flashlight.
There was Byeol, tightly wrapped in spider silk, his cat eyes opened so wide that his ears had completely flattened against his head and could not even be seen from the front.
