Chapter 67: The New Weapon

Seeing that he would not be able to take advantage of the deal, HighlyCultured could not help feeling somewhat disappointed.

Over the past two days, he had relied on the information he know from his previous life to stockpile quite a few valuable items using relatively cheap supplies.

At the end of the day, trading required both parties to agree willingly.

He had never deliberately forced prices down.

At most, he had simply been lucky enough to pick up bargains.

Still, failing to grab another bargain did not bother HighlyCultured much.

After thinking for a moment, he then replied.

[ @HighlyCultured: How about five hundred copper coins? ]

For the foreseeable future, Apocalypse Coins held very little value to him.

There was currently nothing in the game shop that he urgently needed.

As for certain supplies, looting them for free was often more practical than purchasing them from the system store.

Joo Joowon glanced at his own amount of copper coins and fell silent.

[ @Ashfall: One silver coin. ]

[ @HighlyCultured: That’s too much. Do you really think a rare grade item is worth only one silver coin? ]

Joo Joowon could only think to himself:

I don’t even know what silver coins are actually useful for yet. How would I know whether it’s worth it or not?

He also had no idea whether rare grade equipment only dropped from Lord Rank Bosses.

After all, when he killed the Chimera Zombie before, every piece of equipment that dropped from it had only been common grade equipment.

That meant even if Elite monsters were capable of dropping rare grade equipment, the drop rate was probably extremely low.

As a result, high quality equipment at this stage of the game existed in a state where demand far exceeded supply.

Even if he chose not to buy it, the other party only needed to wait a little longer.

Sooner or later, some large organization would be able to gather two silver coins and purchase the equipment instead.

Although Joo Joowon was not in any hurry, after some back and forth bargaining with the other party, they quickly settled on a final price of 700 copper coins, successfully completing the trade.

Judging by how quickly the other party had accepted the deal, Joo Joowon had the vague feeling that he might have lost out a little.

Still, in the early stages of the apocalypse, value could not be measured that way.

Just like in the middle of a desert, if someone offered a bottle of water and a bar of gold, the water would still be the more valuable item.

Because of that, Joo Joowon did not dwell on it.

The only thing that struck him as strange was that after the trade was completed, the other party did not immediately close the window.

Instead, HighlyCultured sent him several rather odd messages.

After translating the meaning behind them, it was basically said that they were just conducting business fairly.

All trades were voluntary and mutually agreed upon.

They had never intended to cheat him or take advantage of him.

Joo Joowon stared blankly at the messages.

"Huh? What else was it supposed to be?"

Separated by screens, the two of them did not even know each other’s genders, let alone anything else.

Naturally, nobody would willingly give up their own interests simply because the other person happened to be famous.

At the end of the day, who cared who the other party was?

It was not as if they could climb through the network cable and cause trouble for him in person.

The only things worth caring about were the benefits that actually ended up in his own hands.

Could it be that the other party was worried he would start some kind of public drama and label them a profiteering merchant?

Joo Joowon could not care less about what sort of image he held in the other person’s eyes.

Without wasting another second, he immediately extracted the Weapon Card and, without the slightest hesitation, selected his weapon of choice.

Compound Crossbow.

When it came to balancing portability and lethality, the compound crossbow had already reached the limits of what a cold weapon could achieve.

It was also the weapon Joo Joowon was currently most comfortable using.

Switching to another weapon would only force him to spend time relearning everything from the beginning.

The gains simply were not worth the cost.

Although Weapon Cards were also capable of producing firearms, the truth was that many firearms were no easier to master than cold weapons.

Because of that, he had no interest in gambling on an unfamiliar gun.

The moment he confirmed his choice, a compound crossbow wrapped in a sphere of green light slowly floated before him.

...

[ Compound Repeating Crossbow ]

[ Grade ]: Rare

[ Durability ]: 2/2

[ Equipment Slot ]: Weapon

[ Equipment Bonuses ]: Upon hitting a target, there is a 20% chance to immobilize the target for 2 seconds. Agility +1

[ Equipment Requirement ]: Mental Power attribute not lower than 10 points

...

Joo Joowon’s eyes lit up when he saw the equipment bonus, but the excitement quickly turned into a headache.

In his opinion, the ability to immobilize a target after hitting it was an exceptionally valuable effect.

It greatly increased the chances of landing follow up attacks, and two seconds was already enough time to accomplish a great many things.

More importantly, the effect came with no listed restrictions.

That meant there was a good chance it could work even against Boss monsters.

Although a 20% activation rate was not particularly high, Joo Joowon did not consider himself unlucky enough to qualify as one of those cursed players who never triggered anything.

Surely, over the course of an entire battle, the effect would activate at least once.

Unfortunately, the crossbow required specially crafted bolts.

That was where the real problem began.

Fortunately, the crossbow came with a starter quiver that included thirty bolts.

Otherwise, Joo Joowon felt like he might genuinely have collapsed on the spot.

He picked up one of the bolts and examined it carefully.
