Chapter 41: Survival Without Morals
Sooner or later, independent players would still learn these things regardless.
His existence was not irreplaceable to the player base.
Besides, the internet had always been a place where people vented their emotions.
Many things people did not dare say or do in reality would instead be unleashed online without restraint.
Because of that, Joo Joowon did not even bother remembering their usernames.
After all, they could not actually threaten him, and paying attention to them would only irritate himself.
Why bother?
Joo Joowon also had no intention of explaining himself.
Sometimes, the more someone tried explaining, the more suspicious they appeared.
If others misunderstood him, then so be it.
He exited the marketplace page containing his own listed item and began casually browsing through the marketplace instead.
After an entire day of development and spreading information, Joo Joowon did not feel that the number of players had decreased at all.
New products were being listed on the marketplace almost nonstop every moment.
While reading through various player comments, he noticed that some players had already begun going outside to hunt zombies.
Many of them were exchanging experiences and survival tips in the comment sections.
One particular organizer claimed to be a member of the special forces and was voluntarily teaching players how to kill zombies efficiently while conserving stamina.
Some groups had also started recruiting members.
They claimed to already be clearing nearby zombies and welcomed nearby players to seek refuge with them.
[ Unite together and resist this apocalypse game as one. ]
None of this had much to do with Joo Joowon.
He casually glanced through it before leaving the pages behind and continuing to search for items he actually needed.
Joo Joowon searched for several specific items.
Unbranded lighter fluid, white liquor, red wine glass bottles, and oak corks.
These were all raw materials used for making Molotov cocktails.
Joo Joowon’s chemistry grades had never been especially good, nor had he ever been interested in scientific experiments.
Fortunately, his former chemistry teacher had been the type who loved hands on experiments and often dragged students along to participate.
Sometimes, once the teacher became too enthusiastic during lessons, he would start explaining how to create surprisingly destructive weapons using extremely cheap materials.
Because of that, even after graduating many years ago, Joo Joowon still remembered several formulas clearly.
The Molotov cocktail was one of them.
The low production cost had simply left too deep an impression on him.
The process itself was straightforward.
Mix poor quality lighter fluid or gasoline together with white liquor or alcohol above ninety five percent concentration at a ratio of one to two.
Pour the mixture into a glass bottle or soy sauce bottle and shake it evenly.
When using it, simply stuff tissue paper into the opening, light it with a lighter, and throw it.
If someone wanted even greater destructive power, they could also mix in heating powder from self heating hotpot packs, sugar, and egg whites.
Then they could cut up ping pong balls and add the pieces to increase adhesion.
After all those additions, the resulting flames would become so intense that surviving them would practically require refusing an invitation from the King of Hell himself.
Of course, before the apocalypse happened, Joo Joowon had never actually made one personally.
Because of that, he had no idea whether this method truly worked in practice.
Fortunately, players were throwing all kinds of random items onto the marketplace simply for the sake of communication and trading.
As a result, all these strange materials could easily be purchased there.
Still, Joo Joowon did not immediately rush to buy them.
First, he had never tested the method before and could not confirm whether it was truly effective.
Second, he worried about accidentally failing the proportions even if the method worked.
What if he ended up blowing himself up instead?
After thinking it over, he typed the words "homemade" into the search bar and began searching.
Joo Joowon had never believed himself to be particularly special.
There were simply too many intelligent people in this world.
If raw materials already existed, then perhaps some naturally talented or interested individuals had already succeeded in creating similar weapons ahead of time.
And if nothing appeared in the search results, then it would not be too late for him to gather materials and attempt making them himself afterward.
Inside a certain factory warehouse, a group of young thugs sat gathered together.
The muscular man covered in tattoos sitting at the head of the group narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
"That Ashfall guy definitely has a team backing him."
"Boss, why do you say that?"
"Are you an idiot? How could one person possibly reach over ten attribute points by the second day? And that information about Dead Man Treasure Chests too. Do you really think an ordinary survivor could know things like that? Ashfall definitely has a specialized team collecting information about all the new changes happening after the apocalypse!"
The tattooed man with a buzz cut had long since given up hope regarding his subordinates’ intelligence.
A cruel grin slowly spread across his face afterward.
"But he did point out a perfect path for us. Aren’t there still plenty of living people left inside the factory? Before, I thought keeping them alive was just wasting food supplies, but throwing them out could’ve caused a riot. Now it’s perfect. We can fatten them up first, then kill them later."
"K-Kill people? A-Are we really going to do that?"
Several dyed haired punks were visibly startled by their boss’s words.
Before the apocalypse, they had merely been ordinary street hooligans at most.
The worst things they had done were causing disturbances and getting thrown into detention centers for minor offenses.
Hearing their boss casually talk about murder genuinely frightened them.
Back then, they had acknowledged him as their boss precisely because he had gone to prison before, making him seem incredibly badass in their eyes.
But this was way too vicious!
