Chapter 345: 345/I will make you pay the price
Chapter 345
Julie’s point of view
The blood froze in my veins with absolute terror and panic, and I rushed with entirely naked, trembling feet toward the door, gripping with a spasm and panic upon the metal handle to prevent him from pushing and entering. I shouted with panting breaths, attempting to fake my tone and exhibit calmness:
"Steve... I am entirely naked right now and altering my clothes! Do not enter in any form or shape!!"
Steve stopped at the threshold, and his voice emerged tight with questioning and doubt:
"What indeed occurred, girl?! I heard a resounding, powerful sound like an impact and shattering coming from your room, and also a strange, muffled cry reached me seconds ago! What is this?"
I swallowed my saliva with a burning dryness restricting my throat, looking with terror at the body of Jake cast on the ground with his motionless, naked corpse. I said with an agitation I attempted with all the effort I was granted to conceal:
"I... I am well, Steve, do not worry... I merely tripped and fell from the wooden chair by mistake while arranging the room."
He asked with persistence from behind the wood without moving:
"Were you harmed in any form?! The sound of the impact was terrifying... let me enter to reassure myself of you personally."
I shook my head in definitive negation despite his inability to see me from behind the wood, and said with a hasty sharpness to distance him:
"No, Steve... I told you that I am well... nothing bad has certainly occurred to me, I am completely well and healthy."
Steve muttered with an anxiety that did not vanish easily from his tone, tracking in a firm, perplexed tone:
"Fine... don something with speed, Julie, and open... I want to enter right now to oversee you and reassure myself of your safety and your body from fracture."
I gripped the metal handle with tightness until my knuckles whitened from the tension, and shouted in a tone filled with anger to make him retreat:
"No! I told you that I am well and healthy already, Steve, do not exaggerate the matter, for God’s sake, and magnify trivial subjects without a cause... Go!"
A brief, heavy silence prevailed in which my brother sighed with a lack of resourcefulness and surrender, then said in a hesitant voice carrying another questioning:
"Fine, fine, as you wish, Julie... I will not press upon you, but do you know where Jake resides right now? I searched for him and did not find him."
I looked with widened eyes filled with gratification, spite, and terror together at the unconscious Jake, residing beneath my feet like a humiliated, naked corpse on the cold floor of the room, and I said:
"No... I have not witnessed him anywhere since the cancellation of the cursed gathering yesterday... I am not interested in his matter."
Steve responded with obvious perplexity while moving in the corridor with hesitant paces:
"This is truly suspicious and occupies my mind... He is not residing even in his room; rather, his bedding is completely arranged and clean as we left it! Where did he depart at this early time?"
I distorted my lips with extreme disgust and loathing from his cursed mention, saying in a raised voice to end the cursed dialogue and expel him by any excuse:
"Steve... I am not Jake’s mother in any form to track his paces and calculate his breaths! I truly do not care for his matter."
Steve said with frustration and surrender to my stubbornness:
"Fine, Julie, I will call his mobile phone right now to see where he disappeared at this early hour of the morning."
Damn it... damn it and curse this stupidity and coincidence! Certainly his cursed phone is here inside my room among his clothes and will ring with a raised voice, exposing everything and making my brother know! My chest constricted with fatal, hysterical terror, and I ran toward the pile of his clothes cast on the ground with a crazy, stormy impulse.
I began to search with convulsed, trembling fingers and with a hysterical speed inside the deep pockets of his cast jackets. Come on... come on, for the sake of hell, where is this cursed, filthy phone?! Faster!
I found it finally in the pocket of his black leather jacket. I pulled it with a running, sudden movement, and pressed with terrified fingers, as if I were dismantling a ticking time bomb, upon the side screen button to place it on silent mode instantly without delay to muffle the sound. In that exact, cursed second, the screen lit up indeed, displaying a shocking appearance: the name and number of "Steve" calling without a sound, with a weak vibration that I miracles-fully muffled with my hand.
I captured a long, panting breath while I almost fainted from the terror, then heard the sound of Steve’s paces moving once more and distancing from my door. He shouted in a raised voice to bid me farewell:
"Julie... I am departing to work right now and will not be late; breakfast is ready and placed over the table in the kitchen."
I said with a faint relief and a raised, high voice for it to reach him with clarity:
"Thank you, Steve... go in peace and take care of yourself on the way."
Steve stopped for final seconds at the door, saying with a final persistence and stubbornness that aroused my terror once more:
"Have you donned your clothes already now, Julie? Can I enter for a fleeting, swift second to reassure myself of you before my departure? I want to see you."
My entire jaw convulsed from his stubbornness and intervention, and I shouted with a hasty oppression and an angry voice to expel him:
"I told you for the thousandth time that I am still entirely naked without clothes! And I told you that I am well, go instantly and do not be late for your work!"
Steve said with a lack of resourcefulness and disappointment from my method:
"Fine, fine... I am departing then, Julie, take care of yourself."
With the passage of counted, heavy moments, the familiar sound of the outer door of the house being closed and locked with power and tightness reached my ears, and I knew that Steve had indeed departed far away and vacated the place, leaving me by myself with my monster.
I breathed a sigh of relief with power and the trapped hot air in my chest emerged. I felt my breaths return to my throbbing chest in succession after I had escaped by a miracle from this hellish dilemma... I turned around with my entire naked body very slowly and with silent paces like a fierce, injured serpent.
I fixed my hateful looks toward the body of Jake, lying without awareness or movement on the cold floor, and ground my teeth with violence:
"I will hold you accountable for everything you performed to my body and to me tonight without awareness and exploiting my drunkenness... I will make you regret the day you were born, you base, despicable scoundrel and filthy animal!"
