Chapter 98: BRUISE ATTENDER
Felix sized the man up before looking away, sighing. "Why am I meeting peasants today?" He mumbled to himself. The man felt embarrassed and he got up to leave. "Idiot", he spat.
Monica arrived at the bar with a scarf and sunglasses to hide her face. When she saw the shameless men and women doing naughty things, she regretted ever stepping foot into the bar.
She was about to turn and leave but halted her steps when she noticed a familiar figure, laying like a dead body. "Felix?" She muttered under her breath.
She quickly ran to him, trying to shake him back to life but there was no response from him. "Felix!" She screamed his name, hoping that would work and luckily for her, it did.
Felix squinted his eyes as he tried to recognize the person in front of him. "Monica? Do you have a twin sister?" He asked her without thinking, making her frown in confusion.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" She questioned him as she tried to make him sit up but he was too heavy for her to move. She smelt the heavy stench of alcohol when she moved closer to him, making her crunch her nose is disgust. "Are you drunk?" She asked.
Half awake and half asleep, Felix replied, "Who says am drunk? As far as I know, am far from being drunk."
Monica placed her hands on her hips, tired. A bartender arrived with another glass of alcohol and was intending to offer it to Felix but Monica stopped him,
"Can’t you see he’s already drunk? Take that away", she ordered but instead of the bartender taking the glass back, he placed it on the table and left. "Didn’t he understand my English?" She wondered.
Felix sprang up, reaching for the glass but Monica was quick to pull it towards her, "No more drinks for you tonight. You’ve had enough", she placed the glass at another table and returned back to Felix who didn’t seem pleased.
"But that was my first glass", he whined. He attempted standing up but dizziness hit him and he fell back down on the seat.
Monica reached out to help him but he swatted her hands away, abruptly.
"Don’t you dare touch me, go back to your boyfriend. The one you chose, the one you love", he said with pain etched in his words.
He attempted lifting himself again until he stood up and started finding his way out. Monica stood, staring at him with shock and pity for she had caused him to drink so much.
Upon realizing that Felix shouldn’t drive whilst drunk, she quickly went after him.
Outside, even though the moon had risen, kissing the earth with its moonlight, letting everyone know it was nighttime and everyone should retire for the day, more people poured inside the bar.
Felix brought his car keys so as to find his car before Monica walked up to him asking,
"What are you doing?"
Felix sighed before replying to her, "Can’t you see? I’m trying to find my car".
Monica stared at him before looking back at the car that was winking at them due to the numerous times he had been pressing the remote.
"Give me that!" Monica snatched the remote from him and led him towards the car with him throwing tantrums all the way, making people stare at them with an odd look. She opened the passenger’s seat and tried leading him in but he wouldn’t bulge. "What is it?" she asked.
"I want to drive", he demanded.
"Are you planning on killing someone tonight?" She asked him. When she felt him relax his muscles, she grabbed the opportunity and pushed him inside the car and locked the door Incase he decides to come down.
"Hey!"
Monica ran to the other side, opened the door and locked it afterwards.
"So where am I taking you?" She asked Felix who was boring his eyes at her.
"Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be with your boyfriend since you left with him in the first place? Wouldn’t he start looking for you?" He questioned her without rest.
Monica also had the same question in her head but she tried not to think too much about it.
"I’m helping you and as for the other two questions, we will have to wait and see", she replied which earned her a frown from him. She ignored his stares and ignited the car engine and started driving. Since Felix wouldn’t tell her the location of his hotel that he had booked, she simply took him to hers. Monica hoped and prayed that Jake wasn’t in the room, that would only escalate things.
The elevator dinged before it’s doors spread open and the both of them walked out until they arrived in front of the room.
Monica inserted her card key in its hole and a green light was seen. She placed one of her hands on Felix’s waist and used another to grab the one on her shoulders and they entered the room.
Everything she had left behind earlier was still intact which meant that Jake had not returned yet.
She carefully assisted Felix in laying on the bed and the drunk man didn’t object this time. She removed her jacket before throwing away the cotton swabs that had been on the ground.
Monica tore another one and applied spirits on it before leaning forward to tend to Felix’s bruises. As soon as the swab made contact with his fresh bruise, he grimaced in pain, trying to muffle his words of objection by clamping his mouth shut.
Monica noticed all of his actions and smiled. "Did that hurt?" she asked so as to annoy him.
Felix opened his eyes to glare at her for asking such a stupid question when the answer was already written on his face.
"It doesn’t. In fact, I think I loved it, can you press harder?" He replied with a tone of sarcasm.
Monica did as she was instructed and applied pressure in her hands.
"AHH! What was that for?" He questioned Monica who was trying to hard to not laugh out. "You did it on purpose right?" He added.
