Chapter 89: SMOOTH DINNER WITH IN LAWS
Mrs Anderson shook her head in disappointment after her husband ran away. "Am so sorry dear, you are a visitor and I invited you for dinner, you don’t need to do that", Mrs Anderson apologized to Erika. She got ready to call a servant to take the role but Erika stopped her.
"It’s okay aunt. I would also like to learn your ways of cooking. You see, whenever Ethan cooks I just want to bite my fingers. I asked him where he got his talent from and he said it’s from you", Erika said to the woman and she laughed.
"I could teach you if you want", she offered and Erika immediately nodded her head. The both of them continued their chopping, dicing and cutting of their ingredients.
Meanwhile, at the garden of the mansion. Mr Anderson favorite place in the mansion, both he and Ethan were talking seriously.
"So she really did that?" Mr Anderson asked with a perplexed.
Ethan had just informed him about what Jasmine had done to Erika a year back. He has also exposed to his father, Mr Davis motives for wanting both he and Jasmine to get married.
"Yes Dad, so please can you not interact with that family ever again?" Ethan requested from his father. "I wouldn’t want them to start getting any more ideas than they already have".
"Definitely. I still can’t believe that Jasper would be that wicked. We were very good friends back in our days. Me, Jasper and James. We were the most powerful Js in our college but who would have thought that he was only pretending to be a friend so that he can steal all of my properties?" Mr Anderson said in a regretful tone. Friends can turn into enemies at some point in life especially when money is involved, Mr Anderson thought to himself.
Ethan felt bad for his dad. He didn’t want to tell him before but he had to because they have gone desperate and could possibly reach any measure to achieve their goal.
"Am sorry about that dad".
"It’s okay son. But what are you going to do with Jasmine. It’s seems like she would be out for Erika now", he reminded.
"I have thought about that and am going to hire body guards who would follow Erika secretly wherever she goes, just to be safe", Ethan replied.
"That is good", Mr Anderson sighed.
Ethan knew he had to put Erika’s safety first and that was what he was going to do. Jasmine has been his childhood friend but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t get rid of her if she harms his woman.
"Erika, you are here!" Cassandra exclaimed happily. She quickly rushed to hug her. Mrs Anderson stared at them lovingly. It hasn’t been long since they got to know about Erika but it seemed that Cassandra has gotten attached to the girl.
"Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I would have gotten ready so that we could hang out, with Monica of course", Casey whined.
"Sorry to burst your bubble but Erika is here to have dinner with us all and not to go shopping with you", Mrs Anderson corrected her daughter.
"Mum, we are not going shopping. I just said hang out". Resisting the urge to stomp her feet, she let out a breath in a huff and turned away.
Mrs Anderson shook her head while watching her daughter’s childish attitude.
"We would definitely hang out one time and you could join too aunt", Erika invited the old woman who quickly shook her head.
"It’s a young girls thing, you three go ahead. Am too old for that anyway", the woman politely rejected the invitation. "And you..." she pointed at Cassandra who was now taking a bite from an apple. "Come here and help us", she ordered with a stern look.
Cassandra dropped the apple in a flash and she started chopping as well.
"But mom, we have servants who can do this right? Why do we have to do it?" Cassandra asked with a frown. If there were servants in the house then they should definitely be doing what they are doing now.
"It’s because, my future daughter in law is going to be having dinner with us and I want everything to be perfect", Mrs Anderson explained. Erika blushed when the woman called her future daughter in law.
"But mom, if you wanted everything to be perfect, why are you making your future daughter to partake in the preparation?" Cassandra asked with a confused look.
"It’s that father of yours", Mrs Anderson sighed. "He was supposed to be here".
Cassandra could feel that her mother was quite annoyed with her father’s attitude so she didn’t ask any more questions so as to not aggravate her anger.
With the three of them in the kitchen, the meal was ready 20minutes earlier. Mrs Anderson called the servants to come help her serve it on the table. Mr Anderson and Ethan arrived at the dining table too and everyone sat down to eat.
Things were not as awkward as when Ethan came to Erika’s home when she had been discharged from the hospital. Erika perfectly fitted into the family’s conversations. Mrs Anderson took care of Erika by adding healthy food on her plate and Ethan got jealous. He started adding food on her plate as well, almost stuffing her with food.
They continued until they were done with their dinner. After some more time passed, Ethan and Erika thanked them goodnight and left.
"They are very warming people", Erika complimented after they got to Ethan’s house.
"They sure are. So when do you plan to go back to California?" Ethan asked her after the climbed on the bed.
"How about tomorrow, after my hang out with Monica and Cassandra. Urgh....am really tired of traveling back and forth", she complained with a sigh.
"If you want I can ask Felix to appoint someone there so that you can avoid that".
"But what if the person is not trust worthy? You know what the former CEO there did right? What if another person does it?" She asked.
"You are right about that but you would only know when you try them out", he offered.
"I will give it some thoughts", she replied. She didn’t want to go through the same thing when she had first taken her place their as their new CEO but she would give it a try. She snuggled more beside Ethan who hugged her with his big hands on her tiny waist.
