Chapter 66: SUSPECTS
"I can still say your exact words last night if you want", Ethan continued.
Erika immediately kept mute because she knew he was telling the truth.
"Here, let me help you wash up", he offered as he carried her into the bathroom. "Can you stand?" He asked her and she nodded in response. He dropped her. "Go for warm water instead", he added and left.
"Are you not going to wash me like you did last night?" Erika questioned him curiously.
Ethan chuckled, "If I wash you like I did last night, you are only going to feel more sore than you already are".
Erika didn’t need to be told twice to understand what he meant. She blushed red and looked away to not meet his burning gaze, she was still naked after all.
Ethan left after that, he checked his phone only to see messages and missed calls from Mr Davis. "It seems that I have to black list him as well," Ethan said to himself.
He ignored the messages and went to the bathroom of the guest room to take his own shower. By the time he was done, Erika was opening the bath room door so he went to her quickly to help her.
"Can you walk now?"he asked when he carried her.
"It’s better now, the warm water helped a lot", she replied before something came into her mind next. "Ethan, I don’t have any clothes to wear".
"Don’t worry, I already have that figured out", he said and carried her to the guest room’s closet. "Here, you can pick any clothes you want".
Erika was surprised to see female clothes all arranged in the closet. She didn’t want to suspect anything and like Ethan read her mind, he explained,
"These are Cassandra’s clothes, she kept them here Incase she comes over so she won’t need to be carrying her bag all the time. I figured that you two have the same figure so some of the clothes should fit".
Cassandra was 5’10inches, while Erika was 5’11 inches. They were almost the same height and weighed almost the same kilos. Erika took out some tops and jeans to try on and they suited her perfectly well.
"Thank you, Ethan", she thanked Ethan.
"You are welcome", he replied. "Wait for me while I go get dressed so that we can leave", and he left.
Erika went back to his room to take the tray and went to go wash them. She also admired the interior decorations of the house. By the time she was done, Ethan was ready and they left the house. He first dropped her at her brothers mansion and left.
Erika first met her mother and father who were acting all lovey dovey in the living room. She didn’t want to disturb them so she sneaked pass and directly went to Michael’s room. As we walked, she didn’t sight any servant around at all. They must have vanished so as to not disturb the old couple. She knocked first before entering.
When she entered, she saw Felix and Daniel were also there and they seem to be talking about a serious matter. "You guys look busy, I will come back later", she said and was about to leave but they stopped her.
"No, its no problem", Daniel assured.
"Alright," She said. "Michael, can we talk now?"
Michael nodded and the two brothers were about to leave too but Erika stopped them. "You guys should stay, I would also need your opinion on this matter". The both of them sat back down and waited for one of them to start.
"So you were asking about an undiscoverable poison?" Michael asked and the other two brothers head turned to look at Erika.
"Are you planning on poisoning Adrain and Felicia?" Daniel asked bluntly without thinking.
"I wish but that is not my plan for them. Am asking about it because grandma Elizabeth is dead and the butler said that the doctor could not find out the main cause of her death", Erika explained.
The three brothers were surprised to hear that grandma Elizabeth was dead. They heard from Erika that only she and the Butler treated her right. They all wished for her soul to Rest In Peace.
"What kind of symptoms were she showing?" Michael inquired.
"Well, Uncle David said she had loss of appetite so with the lack of nutrients, she turned skinny. He also mentioned that she would feel dizzy now and then. Got tired quickly and had constant headache", she replied.
Michael thought for a moment before he replied,
"Those symptoms are very common in all kinds of sickness and it would be hard to pinpoint exactly what caused all of these. Did he say something else?" He asked to get more information.
"Oh yes, I remember. He also said that she was vomiting blood", she replied.
This got not only Michael but Daniel and Felix to frown. An old woman vomiting blood all of a sudden.
"That is serious", Daniel commented.
"Very serious", Michael agreed. "You said the woman was healthy when you left their mansion right?" He asked Erika and she nodded. "I don’t think it’s possible for her to fall sick and die just like that a year later".
"And then the sickness could not be discovered. Something is not right", Felix said this time.
Erika was glad that she was not the only who was overthinking things. "So does that mean that someone killed her?" She asked.
"Could be", Michael said. "But we can’t be sure until we see an autopsy report and find evidence too".
"What are you thinking of?" Felix asked Erika. "Do you have an idea of who could have done this?"
"Well, I can’t be sure of anything until something is found. But I am suspecting two members of the Hart family", she replied.
"Who are they?" Michael asked. In all his years of experience as a doctor, he had nearly never encountered a case where the patients sickness could not be found out.
"Adam and Mary".
