Chapter 361: STORYTIME
Jude stared at the twins as they played. Mostly Luca playing as he tries to make John join him. After several minutes of frowning nonstop, John finally decided to play with Luca by stepping on the water that would come to the shore.
All of a sudden, Luca splashed water on John and giggled but he saw the frown on the latter’s face.
John intended to do the same thing but Luca started running about, trying to avoid the water that John wanted to splash on him.
"I’m going to catch you," John said, running after Luca.
Jude witnessed how happy and playful they were with each other and couldn’t bring herself to do all the things that Adrain was telling her to do.
As if her thoughts were being read, a call came through her phone. She saw the name and looked around to see if anyone was too close to hear her words. She glanced at the kids, they were close but not close enough to hear anything that she would say. Also, they were busy splashing water on each other.
Picking up the call, she answered,
"Hello?"
"Do you have the kids with you right now?" Adrain went straight to business immediately.
Luca laughed so loudly that it grabbed Jude’s attention to where he was. Adrain also heard the laughter and continued,
"If you are the only one with them, bring them to me in the next hour. I’m giving you just an hour and if you fail to do as I say, then it’s bye-bye to your daughter."
Jude was about to plead again but Adrain quickly hung up on the call without waiting for her to speak.
Glancing at the kids and the beach house where both Ethan and Erika were, Jude wondered if this was the great time to take the children away.
If she did this, her daughter would be safe but then she would have to sacrifice the boys. If she didn’t and told Erika and Ethan about what Adrain was planning, she could lose her daughter forever.
As Jude continued to analyze the outcome of her actions, she decided she was going to take the kids. It’s either her daughter or the children of her boss.
Wiping away her tears, she walked toward the boys who were playing and asked them, "Do you want to take a walk around the shore?"
Luca’s eyes sparkled and immediately nodded vigorously. "I want to take a walk around the shore," he squealed like a girl which somewhat annoyed John.
"Are you a girl? Why did you scream like that?" John questioned him but without waiting for his answer, he turned to Jude and replied. "I think it would be better to ask Mom and Dad if we could take a walk around the shore."
Jude’s heart skipped a beat at that realization. Glancing at the beach house, she nodded. "Let’s go ask them."
’I hope they will agree,’ she hoped in her mind as she walked them toward the house.
"Mom!" Luca squealed again which annoyed John nonstop as he glared at his little brother. Hugging Erika’s waist, Luca asked, "Mom, we want to take a walk around the shore. Please say yes, please say yes." He pouted like a kid he was.
"You both want to walk around the ocean?" Erika rephrased their question to properly understand what they were talking about and Luca nodded his head vigorously in answer. Erika glanced at John and he gave a subtle nod. "Alright, wait for your dad to finish taking his shower and we can go there together," Erika suggested and Jude felt her heart drop in her stomach.
She was about to interrupt but Luca whined. "But I want to go now, mommy. Dad takes years in the bathroom. By the time he’s done bathing, it could be next year already."
Erika laughed at her son’s joke and nodded.
"Okay, you can go ahead with Jude. I still need to do something over here and after that, me and your dad can tag along later, hmm?"
"Okay mum," Luca squealed again, nearly bursting John’s eardrums.
"Mom, can you please tell Luca to stop that? He’s not a girl."
"I will scream however I want," Luca snorted and walked towards Jude.
"Jude, you remember what you have to do right? Don’t take your eyes off them and please don’t let them argue," she reminded Jude of all the things she needed to remember while walking the boys.
This wasn’t the first time that Jude was taking them both for a walk and Erika trusted that she would bring back her children in one piece.
"Yes, mam. I remember everything clearly," Jude replied.
"Bye kids," Erika waved the boys goodbye and they waved back and walked out of the door to take a walk around the ocean.
"Jude, can you please tell us a story?" Luca requested as they strolled while his eyes were on the ocean that creaked waves now and then. "Wow."
"It isn’t bedtime yet and you want to hear a story?" John questioned and Luca happily nodded.
"Jude rarely talks so to not make this walk too boring, she should tell us a story."
"Alright, I will tell you a story," Jude agreed. Luca was about to squeal for the nth time but a glare from John made him pause his actions.
"Once upon a time, there were these two brothers, they loved each other but also fought each other a lot of times but no amount of fights and arguments could make them hate each other. And then one day, there was this big old man that wanted to separate the brothers but nothing he did worked. So one day, he asked some people to take the boys away and have them beaten up," she paused.
"Did they die?" Luca curiously.
"I have no idea," she replied since she didn’t know if they would be alive after she took them away from their parents.
"Those boys sound just like us," John suddenly said and Jude’s heart skipped a beat.
