Chapter 331: OUTING
The next day, Erika woke up due to the tap that was softly being placed on her leg as the person tried to wake her up.
"Wake up dear, it’s time for breakfast," said Beatrice as she tried to wake Erika up. "Come on now." She continued to tap on Erika’s foot, not knowing that the latter had already woken up.
"I’m awake," Erika said, caressing her palm on John whom she had arranged to sleep very close to her, along with his brother Luca.
"That’s good, that’s good. I’ve already made your bath. If you want, I can help you change the diapers of the babies while you take a nice long morning bath to get your day started." Beatrice smiled as she spoke but Erika stared at her with an expression that didn’t have anything written on it. It looked as if she was bored with the words that Beatrice was spewing but the old lady didn’t mind one bit and continued to spew more words. "Come one now," she urged Erika to get down from the bed.
"I will change the diapers of the babies myself," Erika declared and she watched as Beatrice’s smile faltered before it grew back on her face.
"You know you don’t have to do that especially while I’m here," said Beatrice as she continued to try to convince Erika to let her do the diaper changing.
"I can do them myself," Erika declared once more and took her stance.
Beatrice sighed with shoulders dropped in disappointment. "Fine, if you say so. I will get the diapers." With that, Beatrice walked out of the room to bring the diapers.
Erika stepped down from the bed and walked towards the bathroom to brush her teeth. By the time she was down, she heard the door of the room open and Beatrice walked inside.
"Thank you," Erika mumbled towards Beatrice and the old lady nodded her head in acknowledgment.
’She doesn’t want me to come close to her children because she doesn’t trust me but at the same time, she appreciates my help," Beatrice thought to herself with a smile as she watched Erika wait up Luca first and the baby woke, his blue eyes staring back at his mother who pecked his cheeks a good morning and he giggled in response.
After changing his diaper, Erika moved towards John who stared at her with his pitch-black eyes.
Erika threw the diapers in the bin after she was done and put them in their stroller before heading to the bathroom where she took her shower.
"She’s so funny," Beatrice commented when she heard the shower starting to run.

"Here, I made you more soup. I noticed that you liked the one that I made for you the previous day so I made it again," said Beatrice, pushing the bowl of soup towards Erika who was seated on the dining table with Viper across from her. "You can only eat soft foods for now since that’s what the doctor prescribed for you," she added.
"Where’s he?" Erika questioned. Instantly, viper’s hand stiffened and so did his whole body.
Beatrice stared at Viper but since his back was facing her, she couldn’t see his expression and he couldn’t see hers.
Erika glanced between the both of them, noting down how they’d suddenly gone quiet at the mention of the doctor that they said had treated her.
"Where’s the doctor?" Erika repeated the question and they both snapped out of their frozen state and pretended like nothing had just occurred.
"We aren’t sure. He’s probably at his hospital, treating patients and all that," Beatrice replied, putting another spoon of soup in Erika’s place as she urged him to eat.
Erika didn’t do so immediately. She stared at Viper, waiting for him to speak. He hadn’t spoken to her since he arrived at the table and not like she was dying to hear anything from him, she was just waiting for the perfect chance when he would talk to her and she would request to go out with him.
Erika has never been in Boston before. She had never stepped foot into the town before.
She wasn’t sure if she could escape but she knew she had to try something.
"Are you enjoying your meal?" Viper asked her, giving her the opportunity that she’d been waiting for.
"Yes, I am," Erika replied, looking up to glance at Beatrice before she smiled.
"Do you want to go to the park later today? Let’s say after you are done with your meal. The babies have been cooped up inside the house for a while now. I think it would be a good idea if we took them out or something so that they can feel the fresh air. What do you say?" He asked her.
Now, Erika was the shocked one. This was the opportunity that she’d been waiting for but she knew that Viper was the one offering it, she didn’t know if she would be glad about it. But either way, he was right about the babies. They needed fresh air.
"Yeah, sure. I think that’s a good idea," Erika replied with a smile.
"I’m going to get you both some bottled water in case you get thirsty on the way there and some food too, in case you get hung—" Beatrice said quickly.
"You can get us bottled water only," said Viper, curtly cutting her off.
’Asshole,’ Beatrice thought to herself.
"What if Erika gets hungry on the way there, hmm? What are you going to get her? I don’t think that fast food sellers will have any soft foods that she can consume," Beatrice fought back, not wanting to be dismissed so easily.
Erika glanced between the both of them and had to cut in between.
"You can get me water only. I think it would be weird to carry food and with this big bowl of soup, I don’t think I will get hungry anytime soon," she assured.
"Okay," Beatrice smiled at Erika and walked right into the kitchen to grab the bottled water.
