Chapter 262: HANGED TO DEATH

"Ahhh!" Adrain winced in pain as he quickly released Erika’s hand to tend to his and Erika immediately took the opportunity to get as far away as possible from him. "You dare to stab me?" He questioned her, trying to hold back the pain but it was too unbearable for him and he slumped on his knees with blood dripping out of his stabbed hands.

"Don’t you ever think that you can do whatever you want with me Adrian because I’m not your toy," Erika spat in disgust.

Mary and Juliet arrived inside the living only to find Adrian begging the ants on the ground to make him stop feeling the unbearable pain he was feeling. His hand had already gone numb and paralyzed, he couldn’t move it anymore.

Mary saw the knife that was in Erika’s hands and anger clouded her mind. "How dare you stab Adrain Erika? He is your husband-to-be."

Erika scoffed as soon as she heard Mary. "Do you mean to say this filthy, no good piece of shit you call your stepson is my husband? You must be kidding me, Mary," Erika hissed. Erika turned and was about to leave but Mary stopped her.

Without wasting a second, Mary squatted to Adrian’s level, snatched the gun from his hand, and pointed it at Erika. "Dare to run away and I will shoot you," she threatened but unfortunately for her, Erika didn’t flinch because of Mary’s hand that shook.

"Are you sure that you want to kill me in front of Adrian? Do you know what he will do to you once you do that? He will end your life for killing me, Mary? Are you ready to risk that?" Erika questioned Mary.

"Will you shut up?" Juliet snapped at Erika. "Stop trying to manipulate my mother, you bitch!" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Manipulate her? I’m not trying to manipulate her," Erika answered, trying to feign innocence but of course, she knew what she was doing. She glanced at Adrain who was still trying to balance his breathing because she had made sure to stab his hand deeply, making sure that the sharp end of the knife stuck out from his flesh. From the looks of things it is going to take a while before Adrain will be able to recover from that pain and that was more than enough time for her to leave from here and find out who were the people that were attacking Adrain’s men. She had a thin hope that it was Ethan who had come to rescue her.

Not wanting to waste any more time there speaking with these delusional people in front of her, Erika said, "If you don’t believe me then try to shoot me, Mary." With that, Erika left with Iza who tried as much as possible to not make a single sound.

Things were starting to become dangerous but she had sworn to stay by Erika’s side until she successfully helped her to escape from her boss’s grasp.

Looking back, Iza found Mary’s and Juliet’s faces looking ugly due to the amount of anger they felt towards Erika for not taking them seriously.

She watched as Mary’s fingers went to the trigger and her eyes widened in surprise.

"Mam Erika," Iza called out as she immediately shielded Erika’s body with hers right before Mari fired the bullet.

Iza gasped when she felt the piercing object cut through her skin and dive into her body system.

Erika was completely flabbergasted when she saw the smoke that came out of the gun that Mary was holding. She looked down at Iza who had already fallen and her eyes attempted to shut down but Erika didn’t want to let that happen.

She quickly squatted down to the girl’s level and hugged her close, hoping she wouldn’t close her eyes but the girl’s breathing had already slowed down.

"Mom, you killed the maid. You were supposed to kill Erika and not the maid." Juliet’s voice echoed inside the living room that had turned empty after the other maids had left to protect themselves. It was only at that moment that Mary realized that she would be charged with not only two murders now but three instead.

"I-it was just a m-mistake," her voice cracked and the gun slipped out of her fingers.

Erika didn’t pay any heed to them and only focused her attention on Iza who was fighting to stay alive at the moment.

"Please don’t die on me, Iza. You have to stay awake for me please," Erika cried as she hugged the girl very close to her. Her hands mistakenly touched the hot blood that oozed out of Iza’s back and Erika’s eyes widened in shock. Quickly, she tore out of her white dress and placed the fabric on the open wound.

"I-I’m sorry mam," Iza apologized as she coughed out blood.

"You can’t do this," Erika argued. "Remember that you have to leave this place with me and you must come with me, alive."

Suddenly, Erika heard the laughter of a particular person in the room and her eyes immediately turned red from anger.

"Are you seriously crying because of a maid?" Juliet mocked her. "You never miss a chance to baffle me, Erika. You have done a lot of things so I shouldn’t be surprised that you are crying because of a maid at all," she added.

Mary tried as much as possible to follow her daughter to mock Erika but she couldn’t bring herself to. She had just killed someone again and Erika had borne witness to it. If she’s ever caught by the police again, she will be hanged to death.

Erika was about to throw her knife towards Juliet to shut the girl up from talking any further but the cries of a baby interrupted her actions. Instinctively, she looked at the room, where the sound was coming from.

’That’s Felicia’s baby,’ she thought to herself.

Looking back at Iza, she noticed that the girl’s eyes had already closed and the white fabric that she had put under her had already soaked in blood.
